Heavy kids who normalize weight in childhood can avoid extra diabetes risk
NEW YORK, APR 05 (DNA) – Although being overweight as a child increases the risk of type 2 diabetes in adulthood, a new study shows that the extra risk disappears if that excess weight is lost by age 13 and kept off in early adulthood. “Until our study came along, it was known that weight reduction in adulthood could reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes,” coauthor Dr. Jennifer Baker said in an interview.

Nine die in hotel collapse in central India
NEW DELHI, APR 01 (DNA) – Nine people died when a four-storey hotel collapsed late Saturday in Indore, a city in India’s central state of Madhya Pradesh. Ten people were rescued and rushed to hospitals, while more people were feared trapped under the debris of the hotel, the report said. The identities of the deceased are not yet known.
