Seeks CJP  help in

 registration of FIR

WAZIRABAD:— Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Thursday addressed the long march participants via video link and invited the nation to come to Rawalpindi against the sitting thug rulers. He said he and his party respected Pakistan Army and he cannot even think to fight with his own army.

Former Prime Minister appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial to take action on the matter of the firing incident as the nation is looking up to him.

Imran Khan requested the CJP that he should have to see four things including 1) What happened to Azam Swati and Arshad Sharif, 2) How a post-mortem report of Arshad Sharif came to the TV anchor, 3) How the boy was used to Wazirabad firing incident, and 4) Who was the other shooter at the spot.

Imran Khan said though they have a government in Punjab but the police were being controlled from somewhere else so how to trust them? He said Pakistan is going to be a banana republic that has no justice there either and this is the reason that the people have lost faith in institutions.

The PTI chairman said the assassination attack on him was a ‘Cover up’ plan which was made two months ago in September and he also knew very well about the people behind this conspiracy.

Former premier Imran Khan said the conspirators had made a plan to kill him with some false allegations of religious blasphemy and the shooting killer was taught like a parrot about his statement after firing on him.

PTI Chairman said the opponents have oppressed him and his workers like terrorists and Pakistan Television (PTV) is playing the video to provoke the masses against him. He lauded Ibtisam for his courageous action against the shooter as well as he promised that his party, the PTI will be responsible for the care of assassinated Moazzam’s children.

Imran said the thieves have no relation with the religion and only care about concealing their theft.  He said no action was taken over torture on PTI leader Shahbaz Gill and Senator Azam Swati, adding that whatever is happening in the country is bringing bad name to the country across the world.

The former PM while raising question on presence of pictures of slain journalist Arshad Sharif said that his mother is not being provided the postmortem report despite repeated demands. Slamming the PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Imran said that efforts underway to ensure the return of Nawaz, adding that he [Nawaz] is fond of playing with his own umpires.

Continuing to take a swipe at the government, Imran said that rules are delaying the elections as they are feared of his [Imran’s] increasing popularity. Saying that he merely wants the transparent elections, Imran added that the conduction of transparent elections is the only solution to all the problems, which the country is facing.

Earlier, expressing his thoughts, while meeting with a delegation of journalists in Zaman Park, Imran Khan on Thursday lambasted the incumbent government, said he is not desperate to  speed up the tempo of his long march, but that the rulers in Islamabad are.

Imran said that the leaders opposed the EVMs because they knew that he [Imran] will defeat them. “If I had to approach the establishment for help, so why I talked about the EVMs. I don’t need the support of the establishment, but the PML-N and PPP do, added the former premier.

Slamming the PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Imran said that efforts underway to ensure the return of Nawaz, adding that he [Nawaz] is fond of playing in the presence of his own umpires.

Continuing to take a swipe at the government, Imran said that rules are delaying the elections as they are feared of his [Imran’s] increasing popularity. Saying that he merely wants the transparent elections, Imran added that the conduction of transparent elections is the only solution to all the problems, which the country is facing.

Political uncertainty deepens as long march resumes

Political uncertainty deepens as long march resumes

Ansar M Bhatti

ISLAMABAD: Political uncertainty continues to grip the country amidst PTI Chief Imran Khan’s recent Tweet that he will take more names who according to him are involved in attack on him. At one point it seemed as if things have settled down with regards to registration of FIR against three persons including the Prime Minister and the Interior Minister and an army officer however after his new Tweet things appear to have turned even more complicated. The scope and ambit of the fight is now likely to be broadened, which means future of politics in Pakistan may become bleak.

The long march has started again albeit Imran Khan not leading it because of injuries but he promised his supporters that he will be with them when the march reaches Rawalpindi. Sources believe, the PTI may not enter Islamabad before the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammed Bin Salman who is expected to arrive on November 21. If so happens, it would of course be a good omen with regard to relations between the PTI and Saudi Arabia. As mentioned in an earlier piece, during PTI government Saudis chose to keep a distance from Imran Khan for a variety of reasons. Anyhow, it is a good opportunity for the PTI to mend its fences with the Kingdom by allowing smooth happening of the Crown Prince visit. During PTI famous 120 dharna, during the Nawaz Sharif regime, the party was severely grilled for hampering visit of the then Chinese president Xi therefore it is expected that the party may not repeat the same mistake. Like Saudi Arabia, China also happens to be a friend that has always stood with Pakistan whenever Islamabad needed it.

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Nawaz Sharif in London few days ago. It was a closed-door meeting however sources privy to the development revealed that future political scenario as well appointment of the new army chief were the topics, which came under discussion during the meeting. Sources claim, the PML N leaders decided to stick to the principle of seniority in the appointment of the army chief, which means Lt. General Asim Munir stands bright chances or at least the PML N camp wants him to be the new army chief. As media reports suggest, PTI and especially Imran Khan may not be comfortable with this appointment albeit he has announced that he and his party had nothing to do with the appointment of the chief but we all know this statement is just for public consumption.

When it comes to appointment of the army chief one thing needs to be kept in consideration that by and large a person who is never discussed for the post but he is still in the queue, is often picked up for the job. General Waheed Kakar, General Jehangir Karamt, General Asif Nawaz, General Musharraf, General Kayani, General Raheel Sharif and General Qamar Javed Bajwa were all less discussed when the appointment was to be made but then we saw them rising to the coveted slot. In present case the President of NDU Lt. General Nauman may prove a dark horse. Despite being in the list of probables for the job he is least discussed.

We have to keep in mind that PTI Chairman Imran Khan wanted General Bajwa to continue till the time of next elections. He had made this announcement publicly during a rally in Faisalabad. Nevertheless, the incumbent has expressed his willingness to doff off uniform at the stipulated time i.e November 29, 2002 but things may take dramatic turn if the long march poses threats to the federal government and consequently emergency is imposed in Punjab and KP provinces.

As regards the holding of elections or at least announcement of the date for the fresh elections as demanded by PTI, it seems uncertain that the PML N and its allied parties would prefer to go to elections at this time. It was also unanimous view during the London meeting that PML N especially cannot afford elections at this particular juncture when wind is already blowing in favour of the PTI. The option of continuing with the government is also difficult because the PML N and its allied parties had not been able to perform well.  The ruling parties however are of the view it is better to continue with the government no matter how bad is this option, rather than announcing fresh elections and consequently paving the way for the PTI to take over for next five years.

The PTI instead wants removal of this government sooner rather than later. Even if the government is sent packing as a result of PTI long march or any other reasons, immediate elections may not be possible. Analysts believe, allowing PTI to have two-thirds majority in the elections may not augur well for the future of the country, especially keeping in view the past performance of the party. The only viable option to stop PTI from getting absolute majority happens to be creation of a level playing field in which PML N leader Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz will have equal chances of contesting the upcoming elections. This is a preposition at present and needs to be fined tuned before it comes into practice.

The corps commanders met on November 9, 2022 though no formal communiqué was issued about this meeting. As per media reports, the commanders sought to adopt a wait and see policy regarding present happenings in the country. Meanwhile the defence secretary is on leave and a summary for the appointment of the new army chief can only be moved when the defence secretary returns to Pakistan. He is expected to rejoin after November 20, which means the process may start in the third week of November.

Taliban ban women from parks and funfairs

Taliban ban women from

parks and funfairs

Kabul, The Taliban have banned Afghan women from entering the capital’s public parks and funfairs, just months after ordering access to be segregated by gender.

The new rule, introduced this week, further squeezes women out of an ever-shrinking public space that already sees them banned from traveling without a male escort and forced to wear a hijab or burqa whenever out of the home.

Schools for teenage girls have also been shut for over a year across most of the country.

“For the past 15 months, we tried our best to arrange and sort it out — and even specified the days,” said Mohammad Akif Sadeq Mohajir, spokesman for the Ministry for the Prevention of Vice and Promotion of Virtue.

“But still, in some places — in fact, we must say in many places — the rules were violated,” he told AFP late Wednesday.

“There was mixing (of men and women), hijab was not observed, that’s why the decision has been taken for now.”

The news was met with dismay by women and park operators — who invested heavily in developing the facilities.

“There are no schools, no work… we should at least have a place to have fun,” said one mother, who asked to be identified only as Wahida, as she watched her children play in a park through the window of an adjoining restaurant.

“We are just bored and fed up with being at home all day, our minds are tired,” she told AFP.

At the next table, Raihana, 21, who is studying Islamic law at university, shared her disappointment after arriving at the park to spend the day with her sisters.

“We were very excited… we are tired of staying at home,” she said.

“Obviously, in Islam, it is allowed to go out and visit parks. When you have no freedom in your own country, then what does it mean to live here?”

                   – ‘Idle attractions’ –

A few kilometers away, the Ferris wheel and most of the other rides in Zazai Park — which offers a spectacular view of the city — have ground to a sudden halt because of a lack of business.

Before this week’s ban, it could accommodate hundreds of visitors on days when women brought their children for family gatherings.

On Fridays and public holidays, even more would flock to the park — one of the few attractions in the city.

On Wednesday, only a handful of men wandered nonchalantly through the complex.

Habib Jan Zazai, co-developer of the complex, fears he may have to close down a business that he has poured $11 million into, and which employs more than 250 people.

“Without women, the children will not come alone,” he told AFP.

He warned such edicts would discourage investment by foreigners or Afghans living abroad, as well as impact revenue collection.

“A government is run by taxes. If an investor is not paying tax, then how can they run?”

Mohammad Tamim, 20, sipping tea in the park during a visit from Kandahar, where he teaches at a madrassa, called the ban “bad news”.

“Every human psychologically needs to be entertained,” he said.

Captain Kane Williamson brushes off latest New Zealand World Cup failure

SYDNEY: Kane Williamson tried to play down concerns that New Zealand seem incapable of winning a global limited-overs title after they again failed to go the distance at the T20 World Cup on Wednesday.

The Black Caps have long been a force in white-ball cricket, but they have yet to turn it into any silverware despite coming agonisingly close in recent years.

They fell at the last hurdle to Australia in the T20 World Cup in 2021, which followed final defeats in the 50-over World Cup in both 2015 and 2019.

Despite being favoured to make Sunday’s decider in Melbourne, they crashed by seven wickets to Pakistan in the tournament’s first semi-final in Sydney.

“We want to achieve something every tournament,” said Williamson, whose team will head home as Pakistan prepare for a final against either India or England in Melbourne on Sunday

“To me, it comes down to the cricket and that’s where our focus is, the environment, how well we’re tracking and there’s been a lot of good stuff.”

Williamson denied time was running out for his team and this group of players to win a global white-ball trophy.

“I mean guys get older and that’s the nature of the sport,” he said.

“We have a bit of time. We have another one (World Cup) next year,” he said, referring to the 50-over World Cup in India, to be played in 12 months’ time.

New Zealand scored 200-3 on the Sydney Cricket Ground wicket when they crushed Australia by 89 runs to open their T20 World Cup campaign on October 22.

But they never looked like matching that against Pakistan, whose fielding and disciplined bowling restricted them to 152-4.

The New Zealand attack was then unable to shackle Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam, who shared in a 105-run partnership in 12.4 overs to set their team on the road to victory.

Williamson, who scored 46, admitted it was disappointing, but claimed there were positives.

“I think we have played in a number of finals and put in good performances, enough to win. And we got met by a side that played a little bit better or was equal. And we accept that,” he said.

“The frustrating part of today is that we were not quite on top of our game. We fought hard and showed some good characteristics that are important to our team. But it wasn’t to be.

“Having said that, we know the fickle nature of T20 cricket.”

He said Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah should be ashamed of his statements, adding that if any officer tries to covertly pressurize the investigation of this incident, will also be exposed, while the time of governor rule in the province is over, now only people s will rule.

Doors open for talks

On Tuesday, Imran Khan in a series of Tweets said that for the future of Pakistan, the doors of PTI are open to all democratic loving forces to join our struggle for Justice.

The former prime minister wrote that his lawyers will give his position on the issue of the farcical FIR. Imran Khan said, “All my life I dreamt of seeing my country as a prospering welfare state & my struggle throughout has been to make this dream a reality for my nation.”

The PTI chairman also wrote, “Today the nation has awakened, understood & risen in support of my message of justice, freedom & national sovereignty. When we are so close to our goal no fear or threat of death can stop my struggle.”

“Our peaceful protests & dialogue are only for Pakistan s Haqeeqi Azadi.”

“For the future of Pakistan the doors of PTI are open to all democratic loving forces to join our struggle for Justice, rule of law & freedom from foreign subservience – our goal of Haqeeqi Azadi,” he added.

Meeting with journalists

On the other hand, talking to journalists at Zaman Park, the former premier had announced to challenge the First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Wazirabad police assassination bid.

Imran Khan said he knew that he would be shot, and in this regard, a video had been recorded in which he mentioned the names of the people who were behind the attack, adding that a plot was made to kill him in the same way that Punjab Governor Salman Taseer was assassinated by using extremism.

Imran Khan went on to say that accused Naveed’s statement was based on lies adding that Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) chief Saad Rizivi has also denied any contact with accused Naveed. “I have no issue with the army, we have only differences over the accountability process,” Imran added.

In response to another question, he said that a coalition government should never be formed, otherwise there will always be blackmail. “f there is a two-thirds majority, the prime minister is strong and can perform better,” said Imran Khan.

FIR lodged

Previously, a case of attack Imran Khan during the long march has been registered in Wazirabad city police station.

According to details, the FIR has been registered by sub-inspector Aamir Shahzad on Monday night. The case of firing on former Prime Minister Imran Khan was registered under the provisions of murder, attempted murder and anti-terrorism, while only Naveed, the man who was arrested on the spot, has been named as an accused in the case.

A PTI supporter named Muazzam who was involved in the march, died of gunshot wounds, while chairman PTI was injured on the container. The FIR also mentioned 11 known and some unknown injured.

It further stated that a PTI worker tried to catch the accused Naveed, and so he could not fire any further due to being held by the worker. After the tragic incident, Imran Khan left for Lahore for proper treatment after receiving medical aid.

On the other hand, the Long March attack took place in Wazirabad, which is a part of Gujarat division. The Chief Minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had issued a notification to make Wazirabad a district and add it to Gujarat Division.

According to the FIR registered by the police, the incident of firing on Imran Khan and other leaders during the long march took place in Gujranwala. In this regard the sources said that, the investigation may be affected due to the change of district, however, the police termed it as a clerical error and said that it will be rectified.

PAF remembers ‘poet of the East’ Allama Iqbal, releases documentary

ISLAMABAD, NOV 09 (DNA) — The Directorate General of Public Relations of the Pakistan Air Force on Wednesday released a short documentary video paying tribute to the poet of the East, Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal on the occasion of his birth anniversary.

The short documentary highlighted that Iqbal’s poetry has depth of thought and insight. The creation of the motherland had been accomplished by his intellectual efforts, it added.

By terming the young generation as Shaheen (Eagle), Iqbal wanted to inculcate in them a lofty idea, passion for action, wide vision and boldness, and also wanted to fully fulfill their curiosity.

According to Iqbal the Shaheen’s life is self-deprecating, curious in its nature and swooping in its habit. “He is the only ruler of vast space who loves the skies and heights,” the documentary mentioned the vision of Iqbal for youth as Shaheen.

The documentary renewed the pledge that every Shaheen of Pakistan Air Force was always ready to protect the motherland and would not spare any sacrifice if required. =DNA

Allama Iqbal and Karl Marx

Dr. Muhammad Akram Zaheer

PhD Political Science

Inclusiveism is an approach of several to understanding different ideologies. Inclusivists hold many beliefs as true and accommodate with their own philosophy. Accommdativism isa doctrine that refers to appropriateness, conformances and reconcilementin socio-political and theological attitudes.According to Dr Muhammad Asim, “Accomodationism” means to accommodate distinct religious identities by government in a structural framework with regard to providing fundamental human rights, religious expressions and particular facilities”.Accommodativismis observed in the social behavior when an individual reconciles himself with the belief of other’sparticularly for the endurance of economy and politics.

“Inclusive Accomodativism means to seek similar traits between socio-political and/or cultural segments, market economies and religious/sectarian fractions by avoiding differences (even major or minor) just to avail Dr. Muhammad Asim’s 3Ps (peace, progress and prosperity) Model, structural functionalism and cosmopolitanism”. AllamaIqbal was also prominent philosopherwho experienced such approach.  He inhaled different ideologies and transmitted its intellectual development through his poetry. The Muslim community of sub-continent was and now is much impressed by hisacomodativeism approach andlyrical message to the Muslim Umah.

However, some are very confused by its philosophical thoughts because he himself was impressed by a number of personalities and philosophies that left a deep impact on him but it seems that he could not totally followed them.

One of them was Karl Marx whose socialist ideas were interpreted into action in 1917 by Lenin. Iqbal was greatly impressed by the Marxian thought and in his later poems, published posthumously in his last collection ‘Armughan-e-Hejaz’, he described Socialism as the next greatest threat to all evils of the world.

Even though he partially subscribed to the Marxian ideology, he had objections to its doubt, on the one hand, and its continuation of statehood on the other. Nevertheless, his sympathies with the peasants and workers and inclination towards Lenin and Marx were distinctive.

AllamaIqbal has written these and similar verses in praise of Karl Marx and Lenin. This is a tribute of approval on his part, as well as an indicator of the fact that, despite reaching the climax of intellectual thought, establishing a rationalistic system, and writing a book destined to cure human ills and misery, Marx is a Moses without divine. He leads and is a Christ who was not crucified in a divine cause. While these verses show extreme approval of Marx, on the one hand, they also expose his deprivation of visionaryexposé and his lack of insight into spiritual values and ecstasy.

Marx has been called a materialist, that is, one who was devoid of the exhilarating and life-giving revelations brought by Hazrat-i-Jibreel. Marx assumed that materialistic equality was the solution for human ills. Allah says that the roots of his (Marx’s) imagination have not penetrated the depths of his heart, but are only floating in the most basic existence, and although his sympathy for humanity may give the impression that the heart of a believer, his insight, being deprived of divine revelation, the system produced by him through the innovations of his intellect is not beneficial. To be deprived of divine revelation is nothing more than the spikes of an unbelieving mind.

Consequently, Iqbal has said that the problem would not be solved with the control of the government by the proletariat. On the contrary, the bourgeoisie would parade with the mantle of the proletariat, because the true revolution is more a change of the basic sentiments of the heart than of the material resources and conditions, and so on.

Human nature loves extremism. It deviates between extremes rather than expanding. Iqbal was once fascinated by the Western system and later by communism. Very few people accept the positive aspects of these two as the lost heritage of the believers and reject the negative aspects because of their harmful effects. Iqbal praised the sentiments of human sympathy in Communism, Marx and Lenin and acknowledged their struggle to smash the idol of capitalism.

What attracted Iqbal the most was the nectar, which in the communist capitalist system proved to be the cancer of the idea of a national organization based on color, language and race and gave birth to a new concept of national ideology in Europe.  Islam bases its own nationalism.  This harmony of thought between the two created a soft spot for sharing in Iqbal’s conscience.

In other words, Iqbal happily saw the achievements of communism against capitalism as preparing the ground for Islamic revival. At the very beginning of the communist trial time, when he may perhaps was seeing the future of human between the two extremes of communism and capitalism from which the human race would benefit.

Though today when we study him after 80 years, he still remains worth-while because his imbalances philosophy is still persist. Although Subcontinent is free from imperialist rule, still faces the challenge of the dominating self of the West. The laziness of the centuries still to be broken and the passion for progress, devotion to ideal and dedication to action are yet to be acquired.
