LONDON (DNA) – Switzerland, which promotes equality at home and in the workplace, has been ranked the best country for women’s rights, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said in a report on Friday.Denmark, Sweden, France and Portugal were the next best-performing countries, according to an index that ranked 120 nations on how they tackled discrimination against women through their laws and political reforms.Meanwhile, Guinea, Jordan, Iran, Pakistan and Yemen came out at the bottom of the OECD’s Social Institutions and Gender Index, released to mark International Women’s Day.
Pakistan to unmask India’s LoC violations at PUIC in Morocco
(DNA) – Pakistan will strongly raise the issue of gross violations of the Line of Control (LoC) by India at the forum of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States (PUIC), which is holding its preliminary session from March 10 to 14 in Rabat, Morocco.National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser has nominated a parliamentary delegation, led by Chairman of Kashmir Committee Syed Fakhar Imam, for participation in the 14th plenary session of the PUIC.The delegation is tasked to effectively convey Pakistan’s point of view to the 54-member PUIC forum about the continued violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by India, which has pushed the entire region to simmering tensions with a possibility of war between nuclear-armed rivals.
Samjhauta Express blast: NIA court to announce verdict today
PANCHKULA (DNA) – Twelve years after improvised explosive devices (IEDs) rocked the Samjhauta Express — the India-Pakistan peace train — a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Panchkula on Monday is likely to deliver the verdict in the case.According to NIA investigations, the act that killed 68 persons, including most of them Pakistani nationals, was committed using IEDs and inflammable substances, which caused blasts and fire in two carriages of the train while it was passing through Diwani village near Panipat in Haryana on the night of February 18, 2007.The train was moving towards Attari, the last station on the Indian side.
Government wants to put opposition in jail: Khurshid Shah

Court indicts Pervaiz Ashraf, Babar Awan, others in Nandipur power plant case
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Accountability court on Monday has indicted seven accused including former Prime Minister (PM) Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Babar Awan in Nandipur Power Plant reference.
The other accused included former law secretary Riaz Kiyani, Masood Chishti, ex-consultant Shumaila Mahmood, former joint secretary Riaz Mahmood and ex-secretary Shahid Rafique.

South Korea and China using ‘Artificial Rain’ to wash away air pollution
(DNA) – Air pollution has become a major problem no matter where you live, and it can get particularly bad in Seoul, the capital of South Korea – and so the government authorities are taking drastic action to try and deal with the smog that settles over the city.The latest plan from President Moon Jae-in is to create artificial rain showers to effectively wash the air pollution out of the sky. It’s a strategy we have seen before, but there is still no solid evidence that it actually works.The idea is called cloud seeding: specific chemicals are released into the air, usually by planes, with the intention of encouraging water droplets to form. The rain that is created then attracts and pulls polluting aerosol particles out of the sky as it falls.
