CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS OF EXTREMISM IN PAK P-2

By: Mustansar Klasra

Extremism is a perplexing marvel, in spite of the fact that its multifaceted nature is difficult to see. Most essentially, it can be characterized as exercises of a character far expelled from the customary. These days, the term is for the most part utilized as a part of a political or religious sense, for a philosophy that is considered to be far outside the standarddispositions of society. But radicalism can, for instance, additionally be implied in a financial sense. It is a basic issue confronted by Pakistani society today prompting social, financial, social, political turmoil and helpful emergencies.

Whither MQM? By Ansar Mahmood Bhatti

Let me borrow few lines from my April 2016 editorial, “As regards the future of MQM many analysts believe, this party has little political future in the coming days. The minus one formula seems to have worked at last in eliminating any future role of Altaf Hussain in Pakistan’s politics and the MQM will gradually be obviated from the political scene”.

After almost four months, my prediction seems to have transpired into reality as Altaf Hussain appears to have been ‘abandoned’ by his own party, though there are still doubts whether Farooq Sattar shall be able to run the party matters on his own. The MQM constitution says Altaf Hussain is the supreme leader of the party and no decision can be made without his nod. The real test therefore for Farooq Sattar and his colleagues is to alter the MQM constitution with a view to eliminating any future role of Altaf Hussain for good.

Now when you are about to end your tenure in Pakistan, how would you sum up your seven and half years stay in Pakistan?

Pakistan is a wonderful country and people here are very caring and hospitable. Pakistan is so rich in natural as well other resources, therefore, you do not need to go to any country for help. As I always said that I am confident if these resources are exploited and utilized judiciously, Pakistan’s economy would surely see tremendous improvement.

Politics of alliances by Ansar Mahmood Bhatti

Analysis: Imran Khan’s U-turn or a new game plan!!

The political weather of Pakistan starts to heat up as Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) have girded upon their loins against the incumbent government. But this time their strategy appears to be different. They do not want to dislodge the government rather they are looking for some arrangement for an in-house change. Although both PTI and PAT will launch their movements separately, yet are expected to join hands at the end of the day as they did during their previous dharna. The previous attempt proved barren as they could not succeed to dislodge the government despite the fact that they enjoyed sizeable support from masses and ‘powers that be’.

TURKEY Coup attempt was not action of Turkish armed forces: Ambassador

ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin giving a briefing about attempted coup. DNA

ISLAMABD, (DNA) – Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin has said the coup attempt of July 15 was not an action of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) as an institution. The fact that the number of military personnel detained after the coup attempt amounts to less than one percent of the strength of the TAF is a clear demonstration of this.
The ambassador further said, the High Command of TAF and the majority of the army declared their opposition to the attempt from the beginning. Chief of General Staff and some high-rank commanders were taken hostage by the plotters. Other high-ranking commanders appeared on TV and declared that TAF was not behind the coup attempt.
The coup attempt was a criminalact against Turkey’s constitutional order and organized by the members of Fethullah Gülen Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) infiltrated into the TAF overdecades.

Our Destiny and National Interests are linked” – Mullah Omar General Mirza Aslam Beg

In 2001, when America devastated Afghanistan by launching the “shock and awe crusade,” Mullah Omar sent the message to Pakistan: “You have joined our enemy in their war on us, yet we regard you as our friend, because our national interests and destiny are linked.” These words have a deep meaning and need to be analyzed in depth, to formulate our national security policies, in this period of crises. In order to determine the policy framework, we have to find answer to the simple question: “Having supported the Afghan War of Liberation against the Soviet invasion, why America turned its guns on their old allies and continues to punish them even now by denying them the right to sovereignty over Afghanistan.” The reasons are:

UK divorces EU: what next? by Ansar Mahmood Bhatti

Analysis: Imran Khan’s U-turn or a new game plan!!

In an unprecedented move witnessed in the history of the European Union, the UK has voted by 52% to 48% to leave the European Union after 43 years in an historic referendum. London and Scotland voted strongly to stay in the EU however the rest of the regions decided to finally divorce the EU. The low turnout was witnessed in those areas where campaigners for No vote succeeded. The decision thus dealt a severe blow to the EU project as a whole. The British prime minister had to call it a day as he had no locus standi to remain glued to the power after a defeat in the referendum. The vote jolted financial markets the world, sending the U.K. currency tumbling to its lowest level since 1985.

ANSAR MAHMOOD BHATTI
Mr. Ahmed Saleem, High Commissioner of Maldives talked exclusively to Centreline and Diplomatic News Agency (DNA) ahead of the Maldives national day to be celebrated in July. Mr. Ahmed Saleem has also served as the Secretary General of SAARC. Being a top SAARC diplomatic Mr. Saleem has a comprehensive understanding of the region. He talked about various regional as well global issues during the interview. Here is the text of his interview.
Let us begin with bilateral relations between Pakistan and Maldives. How would you describe these relations?
From a political perspective, Pakistan and the Maldives have excellent brotherly relations. However, there is work to be done in many fields to fully tap the potential. Economic, education and cultural relations need further improvement. This is underway and it is progressing. Cultural exchange programs, engaging both the countries through tourism, are in progress. Maldives having some history and experience in the field of tourism and hospitality, we could perhaps share that experience through exchange programs. Pakistan, with its greenery, hills, valleys and the mountain range, acquires its beauty for tourist attraction. Hence, I believe with the sharing of information and experiences in this vital field, this area could be enhanced. I see bright future for even a stronger relationship between our two brotherly countries.
