PARIS, MAY 07, (DNA) – Centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron has decisively won the French presidential election, projected results say. Mr Macron defeated far-right candidate Marine Le Pen by about 65% to 35% to become, at 39, the country’s youngest president, the results show. If confirmed, he will also become the first president from outside the two traditional main parties since the modern republic’s foundation in 1958.
Renowned French chefs visit Pakistan

Hillary blames Putin, FBI chief for election loss

First of May is an annual public holiday that combines spring revelry and marches of the labor movement. At the water front in central Helsinki, a late-19th-century statue depicting a woman “Havis Amanda” was topped with a Finnish white-black student cap, as previous years. First of May has been a legally mandated public holiday in Finland since 1944, but the current type of observation dates back to the early 1900s.
South Africa’s Phosa Accepts Nomination to Run for ANC President
CAPE TOWN, APR 30, (DNA) – South African businessman Mathews Phosa said he accepted a nomination to stand as president of the ruling African National Congress. Phosa will challenge Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, a former chairwoman of the African Union Commission, who are seen as the frontrunners to succeed President Jacob Zuma as the party’s leader at a conference in December. Dlamini-Zuma is the president’s ex-wife.

China launches its first homegrown aircraft carrier
BEIJING, APR 26, (DNA) – The first aircraft carrier designed and built in China was launched Wednesday amid streamers and champagne. The as-yet unnamed vessel is China’s second aircraft carrier. Early on Wednesday morning it was towed from Dalian Shipyard, Liaoning, to a nearby wharf, China’s Ministry of National Defense said.
France’s Macron appears set for Elysee in runoff with Le Pen
PARIS, APR 24, (DNA) – Centrist Emmanuel Macron took a big step towards the French presidency on Sunday by winning the first round of voting and qualifying for a May 7 runoff alongside far-right leader Marine Le Pen.Though Macron, 39, is a comparative political novice who has never held elected office, new opinion polls on Sunday had him easily winning the final clash against the 48-year-old Le Pen.
