UAE charity sends 175 Pakistanis for Hajj

ISLAMABAD, AUG 05 (DNA) –The charity of United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan has sent 175 deserving intending pilgrims from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia for performance of Hajj.Second Secretary of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Islamabad, Rashid Abdulrahman Al-Zamar Al Ali saw the Hajis off at the airport.Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Aid Pilgrims chose 175 Pakistanis to perform Hajj this year.

OGRA bans use of CNG in public service vehicles

ISLAMABAD, AUG 05 (DNA) – OGRA has imposed a ban on the use of CNG in PSV’s (public service vehicles) keeping in view the safety of public life and property.All stakeholders are expected to comply with the decision in its letter and spirit.The school vans which are private vehicles are not allowed using CNG as fuel and cylinders installed therein to ensure safety of innocent children in pursuance of Sindh Government notification as well as Honourable Sindh High Court Order dated 19-6-2019 in Constitutional petition No. C.P. Nos.D-7529/2018, 280&597/2019 wherein the Honourable court has directed that the District implementation committees shall perform their responsibilities diligently in accordance with the terms of reference mentioned in the notification to avoid any untoward incident / accidents.

Japan extends grant to UNIDO to support Pakistan agri sector

ISLAMABAD, AUG 5 (DNA) – The Government of Japan on Monday announced grant aid worth around 560 million Japanese Yen (5.2 million USD) to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to support Agri-Food and Agro-Industry Development in Pakistan’s Province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.Notes to this effect were signed and exchanged between Kuninori Matsuda, Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan and Ms. Nadia Aftab, Country Representative of UNIDO.A Grant Agreement on the details of implementation of the project was signed and exchanged between Shigeki Furuta, Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Ms. Nadia Aftab in the presence of Sahibzada Muhammad Mehboob Sultan, Federal Minister for Ministry of National Food Security and Research.

Apart from external factors, various internal factors have also contributed towards Pakistan’s skewed image both at home and abroad. Let us begin with the role of Ministry of Foreign Affairs with regard to projection of soft image of country and its handling of foreign missions based in Islamabad or in other cities of Pakistan. During past few years, especially when a junior officer was elevated to the post of Foreign Secretary, things went topsy-turvy at the Ministry. This development not only impacted badly upon the internal working but it also contributed towards straining of relations with various foreign missions – whose biggest complaint was non-addressal of even their petty issues.

Where we stand on the rights of the child

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention signifies the fact that respect for human rights begins with the way a community treats its children.Children’s rights cannot be separated from human rights because children are the future generation.
