According to the provisional data, deputies to the Legislative Chamber were elected in 128 out of 150 constituencies. Yestreday were announced the preliminary results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.Today, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov at a press briefing announced the results:

Japan, Pakistan ink MOC for “specified skilled workers”

ISLAMABAD, DEC 23 (DNA) – The Government of Japan today signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Government of Pakistan regarding the “Specified Skilled Workers” which aims to pave the way for skilled Pakistani workers to get employment opportunities in Japan under this cooperation framework after passing the required examination.Pakistan is among the top ten countries where Japan is looking to hire skilled human resource during the second phase of this policy.

Nasimi, whose real name was Syed Ali Imadaddin, was born in 1369 in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan. Following the execution of his teacher, Fazlullah Naimi, he left Shamakhi and went to Baghdad, where he began to spread Hurufism. NA committee on science to discuss sea intrusion

ISLAMABAD, DEC 23 – The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science and Technology will meet on Tuesday to discuss amendments to a bill titled National Institute of Oceanography, 2019.The National Institute of Oceanography has faced continuous challenges to stop sea intrusion and erosion caused not just by rising sea levels, but also the phenomenon of sediment starvation — a situation when rivers carry minimal debris to delta areas.During a meeting of the Senate on the issue in March this year, it was noted that of the 16 creeks of Indus Delta, only one, Khobar Creek, now transfers water from the main river to the sea.

Pakistan bag victory against Sri Lanka in first home Test series in a decade

KARACHI, DEC 23 – Pakistan on Monday won the two-match Test series 1-0 against Sri Lanka after winning the second Test at Karachi’s National Stadium by 263 runs.Chasing 476 for victory, Sri Lanka were all out for 212 with Oshada Fernando top-scoring for them with a gutsy 102, while Naseem Shah claimed 5-31 for the hosts. Speaking at the post-match ceremony, skipper Azhar Ali noted Shah’s balling performance.Ali said that his own century was “long due”, adding that he hoped he could continue the performance. He said that it was advantageous particularly for batsmen to play Test series on home grounds.

Uzbek president, others cast vote in parliamentary polls

TASHKENT, DEC 22 (DNA) Hundreds of Uzbek people on Sunday thronged to polling stations to cast their votes in parliamentary and local government elections.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also cast his vote along with family.

The Uzbek Central Election Commission had made elaborate arrangements in order to facilitate people so that they could exercise their right in a free and fair manner.

International observers who came to Uzbekistan from various countries also visited polling stations and witnessed the polling process.

KARACHI  – Pakistan have set a record in its Test history after four of its top-order batsmen struck back-to-back centuries in the second and final test against Sri Lanka in Karachi before declaring their second innings at 555 runs for the loss of three wickets.On Sunday, Skipper Azhar Ali struck his 16th Test hundred, but fell at 118 runs from 157 balls with 13 impressive boundaries until Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella made a successful stump-out off spinner Lasith Embuldeniya.Azam reached 100 not out on the stroke of lunch for his fourth three-figure Test score as Pakistan stood at a mammoth 555-3 at the interval.

ISLAMABAD – Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Sunday has said those who used ‘parchi’ to come into power are calling Imran Khan as ‘selected Prime Minister’.Addressing party coordinators in Sialkot, the special assistant advised Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to first act on democratic rules in his party.Bilawal Bhutto should appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and present the money trail, she stated.

Uzbek citizens in Pakistan cast their votes

ISLAMABAD, DEC 22 (DNA) Uzbek nationals living in Pakistan cast their votes in parliamentary and local govt elections at polling stations established at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov and other embassy staff also cast their votes.

The polling started from 8 a.m and voting process began with the participation of citizens of Uzbek republic permanently residing in Pakistan.

TASHKENT, DEC 21 (DNA) – The international observers and organizations have reposed complete confidence in the arrangements made by the Central Election Commissioner of Uzbekistan, as Uzbek people are set to go to polls on Sunday.

The Uzbek authorities arranged a special briefing for the visiting foreign delegations including media people. The briefing which was given by the Chairman of Central Election Commission was followed by input from the Chairman of the Constitutional Court and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
