Sri Lankan envoy hosts reception for his Cricket team

Abid Ali wins hearts on social media with debut ton

RAWALPINDI: Netizen showered praise on Pakistani batsman Abid Ali, on Sunday, after the opener made history by becoming the only male cricketer to score a century on both Test and ODI debuts.

Abid finished with 109 not out and Babar Azam was unbeaten on 102 as Pakistan scored 252-2 in reply to Sri Lanka´s first innings total of 308-6 declared.

Abid’s century is a breath of fresh air for millions of cricket fans around the globe, especially those from Pakistan haven’t witnessed an opening batsman perform consistently since the last decade or so.

China suspends planned tariffs on US goods

SHANGHAI: China has suspended additional tariffs on some US goods that were meant to be implemented on December 15, the State Council’s customs tariff commission said on Sunday, after the world’s two largest economies agreed a “phase one” trade deal on Friday.

The deal, rumors and leaks over which have gyrated world markets for months, reduces some US tariffs in exchange for what US officials said would be a big jump in Chinese purchases of American farm products and other goods.

Uzbekistan keen to benefit from Pakistan’s democratic experiences: Ambassador Furqat

ISLAMABAD, DEC 15 (DNA) : Pakistan is one of the biggest democracies in the region therefore Uzbekistan would like to benefit from Pakistan’s experiences as part of Tashkent’s desire to strengthen friendly and brotherly relations with Islamabad.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqat Sidikov expressed these views while speaking during a reception he hosted for the Pakistani delegation heading to Uzbekistan for observing the upcoming parliamentary and local govt elections.

Ambassador Furqat Sidikov also briefed the members of the delegation about various dimensions and dynamics of the elections.

Azerbaijan embassy pays respects to Heydar Aliyev  

ISLAMABAD, DEC 12 (DNA) – Ambassador of Azerbaijan Ali Alizada along with his embassy staff paid homage to the great leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev during a ceremony, on Thursday.

Minister says Armenia in economic impasse due to its destructive policy

Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov has said Armenia has driven itself into the transport and economic impasse with its destructive policy.“The Azerbaijani side prefers constructive approach. We know that the destructive approach is simpler, and, unfortunately, the results of this destructive policy are visible in the neighboring country, which is isolated from a great number of projects and has driven itself into the transport and economic impasse, and, apparently, doesn’t want to get out of it,” Jabbarov said.
