Shireen Mazari says govt committed to protect basic rights of workers

ISLAMABAD, MAY 01 (DNA) – Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen M Mazari has said that we are committed to ensure the basic rights to all our citizens especially the rights of deprived segment and workers.She expressed these views in a message on the occasion of ‘Labour Day’ on Wednesday. Dr Mazari said that today is the day to not just honour our workers but to also realise how far we have to go to give them their right to health, education and basic security of work plus a rational minimum wage.

Naruhito becomes Japan’s new emperor

Three soldiers embrace martyrdom in Waziristan attack

WAZIRISTAN (DNA) – Three soldiers of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom on Wednesday when around 60 to 70 terrorists opened fire at them near Alwara area of Waziristan, according to Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, thedirector general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).Soldiers, including Lance naik Ali, Nazir and Sepoy Imdad Ullah were working on fencing the border with Afghanistan.According to details, army responded effectively and killed many terrorists.

Govt delays hike in prices of petroleum products

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Government on Tuesday delayed the decision to hike the prices of petroleum products.Addressing a press conference in Islamabad after federal cabinet meeting, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting, Firdous Ashiq Awan said that Prime Minister Imran Khan sent the matter to Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).She said that the federal cabinet felicitated Prime Minister Imran Khan on his successful China visit during which various agreements had been signed.

IMF bailout package: Pakistan’s economic policies to be reviewed today

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Wednesday are scheduled to hold another meeting in Islamabad where the proposed three-year bailout package and the state’s economic policies will be discussed. The proposed bailout package is expected to be around $8 billion.The fresh round of talks will focus on the tax amnesty scheme by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), privatisation programme, power and gas tariffs, and the government’s economic policies.
