MQM requests SHC to declare resigned seats of PTI vacant

KARACHI, March 30 (DNA): Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday filed a petition in Sindh High Court (SHC) to declare the seats of resigned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members as vacant.According to details, the petition submitted by MQM leader Shahid Sheikh stated that it is unconstitutional not to accept the resignations of four members of PTI as they do not came to the assembly afterwards.

Moreover, it also stated that speaker Sindh assembly and Election Commission (EC) is being subject of breaching the constitution by doing so therefore, by-election should be conducted by vacating the seats of PTI members.

The petitioner also requested to direct the speaker Sindh Assembly to accept the resignations.

The resigned PTI members include Syed Hafeezuddin, Khurram Sher Zaman, Samar Ali Khan and Seema Zia.
