Ambassador France Gives Special Message to Centreline & DNA

Mr. Philippe Thiebaud, Ambassador of France to Pakistan is a career diplomat. He presented his credentials to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on December 22, 2011. He issued a special message to Centreline and Diplomatic News Agency (DNA) on the occasion of French national day. Here is the text of the message.

 Diplomatic News Agency (DNA)

It is my pleasure to share few words in the “Centreline” on the occasion of the National Day of France. Bastille Day on the 14th of July embodies the spirit of the French Revolution and the universal motto that defined the French people’s values: Liberty, Equality, Fraternity. Celebrating this day in Pakistan is an opportunity to remind ourselves of the importance of those principles as France places them at the heart of the French-Pakistani collaboration.

The France-Pakistan bilateral relationship is rich and diversified. It encompasses the economic and agriculture sector, with more than 185 companies having joined the Pakistan-France Business Alliance and 40 businesses affiliated with French companies developing their activities on the Pakistani soil.

It also covers the education and science fields, with a focus on need-based higher education scholarships, and the energy and water and sanitation sectors, towards which the French Development Agency, AFD, dedicates most of its funds and initiatives in agreement with the Pakistani government. In the past year, I have had the pleasure to travel across the breathtaking Pakistani landscape and witness the dynamism of the French-Pakistani friendship.

2013 is an important year in the history of Pakistan, not only did an elected Parliament peacefully transferred power to a newly democratically elected government but we witnessed the vitality of democracy and motivation of the Pakistani people, massively mobilized to vote.

France welcomes and supports the exchanges between Pakistan and the European Union as Europe is already the first destination of Pakistani exports. France looks forward to continue building on this positive cooperation along with its Pakistani partners. France stands on the side of Pakistan to achieve its goals and further development.
