Kim’s train departs Vietnam rail station for China

DONG DANG (DNA) – A train carrying North Korea’s Kim Jong Un left a Vietnamese rail station bound for China Saturday, following his summit with US President Donald Trump in Hanoi this week.Kim boarded his armoured train at the northern border station of Dong Dang, which slowly pulled out at the start of a 4,000 kilometre (2,500 mile) journey back to Pyongyang through China.

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – As Quetta Gladiators came out to chase the small total of 122 runs, they were off to a flier with Shane Watson and Ahsan Ali racing to 49 runs in 5.5 overs, before the veteran all-rounder, Shahid Afridi got rid of the Australian batsman for 33 (25).The wicket hurt Gladiators’ scoring rate, which was further dented by Afridi once again when he cleaned up the young opening batsman, Ali. He scored 17 (15).However, after the two strikes in quick successions from Shahid Afridi, Ahmed Shehzad and Riley Rossouw took control of the game and contributed 48 runs together, which took Sultans to 103 and close a victory.Gladiators had a few hiccups at the end, losing Rossouw and Umar Akmal in quick successions, however, Ahmed Shehzad, after a nervous start took the charge and helped Gladiators to cross over the line.Shehzad remained unbeaten on 28 (35), while DJ Bravo scored 2 off 5 deliveries.Quetta Gladiators registered a convincing victory by six wickets, which have made their position better in the tournament.

Trump asks China to lift tariffs on U.S. farm products

WASHINGTON (DNA) – President Donald Trump said he had asked China to immediately remove all tariffs on U.S. agricultural products because trade talks were progressing well.He also delayed plans to impose 25-percent tariffs on Chinese goods on Friday, as previously scheduled.“I have asked China to immediately remove all Tariffs on our agricultural products (including beef, pork, etc.) based on the fact that we are moving along nicely with Trade discussions,” Trump said on Twitter, pointing out that he had not raised tariffs on Chinese goods to 25 percent from 10 percent on March 1 as planned.

Russian Foreign Minister phones FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD, MAR 01 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi spoke to his Russian counterpart Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov on telephone to discuss the regional situation, on Friday.Foreign Minister Qureshi appreciated Russia’s balanced and constructive role in de-escalation of tensions in the region.The Russian Foreign Minister encouraged Pakistan and India to resolve all issues through dialogue and peaceful means.

Two NAB officers dismissed over corruption accusations

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – At least two officers of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was dismissed on Friday over corruption accusations.A press release issued by the accountability watchdog says that both the offices failed to prove their innocence.An inquiry was held against the officers over the accusations, it maintained.Meanwhile, a statement issued by NAB chairman Justice retired Javed Iqbal termed corruption ‘cancer’.

Pakistan re-opens airspace after two-day closure

ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – Pakistan partially re-opened its airspace Friday evening, the aviation authority said, after thousands of passengers were left stranded worldwide when Islamabad shut down air travel as tensions with neighbouring India soared.A spokeswoman for the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said airspace was “partially re-opened”, adding that it would be fully restored by Monday.Earlier, she said flights would be allowed in and out of major airports at Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi and Quetta only starting Friday, with the rest of the airspace to be re-opened “gradually”.
