Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover makes up US$6.39 billion in January-February

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (DNA) — In January-February 2019, Uzbekistan carried out trade relations with more than 140 countries of the world. In particular, the foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan in January-February 2019 reached US$6.39 billion and grew by US$1.29 billion, or 25.4% more than the corresponding period of last year.

Sixth death anniversary of MM Alam being observed

LAHORE (DNA) – The sixth death anniversary of the 1965 war hero Muhammad Mahmood Alam, popularly known as MM Alam, is being observed on Monday.Alam was the eldest son of 11 siblings who was born in Calcutta on July 6 1935. He was brought up in Bengal, India but after Indo-Pak separation in 1947 his family migrated to the then called East Pakistan, now Bangladesh. Alam was granted  commission in PAF (then RPAF) on October 2 1953.

Quetta Gladiators defeat Zalmi in PSL-4 final

KARACHI, MAR 17 (DNA) – Quetta Gladiator have defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 8 wickets in the final match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Fourth Edition at National Stadium Karachi.Peshawar Zalmi had set a victory target of 139 runs for Quetta Gladiators in the final face-off, on Sunday.Quetta Gladiators had won the toss and elected to field first against Peshawar Zalmi.Quetta have beaten Peshawar in both the league games this season, before having the better of their arch-rivals in the Wednesday s Qualifier at the back of a powerful performance.Despite beating Peshawar in the Qualifiers in 2016 and 2017 in thrilling last-over finishes by one-run, Quetta lost in the 2017 final by 58 runs in Lahore and in the Eliminator 1 last year.

Pakistan has not put Somalia in negative list: sources

ISLAMABAD, MAR 18 (DNA)-. The sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan have dispelled the impression given in a  section of the press that Somalia has been put in the negative visa list.It may be mentioned here that according to some websites, it was reported that according to new visa policy, Pakistan along with India has also put Somalia in the negative list.Sources say the news is correct only in the case of India while for Somalia no such decision has been taken.

Pakistan’s envoy Raja Ali Ejaz presents credentials to Saudi king

ISLAMABAD: MAR 17 (DNA) – Pakistan’s newly-appointed ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz on Sunday presented his credentials to King Salman bin Abdul Aziz in a ceremony held at Al -Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.The Custodian of two Holy Mosques welcomed the ambassador to the Kingdom. He wished him success and hoped that he will play a leading role to further enhance the relations between the Kingdom and Pakistan, said a statement issued by the Pakistan Embassy in the Saudi capital.

Foreign Minister Qureshi to visit China on March 17

ISLAMABAD, MAR 17 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi is scheduled to visit China from March 17 to 20, to attend the First Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue.Both sides will hold comprehensive discussions on the entire range of bilateral relations including CPEC. Honourable Winston Peters, called Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on telephone and expressed his deepest condolences over the killing of Nine Pakistani nationals and one critically injured, in the terrorist attack on two mosques in the Christchurch, New Zealand, on 15 March.He conveyed his condolences and sympathies with the bereaved families of the innocent victims.

New Zealand wants answers from tech giants after mosque attack livestream

WELLINGTON: (DNA) – New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on Sunday said she would be looking for answers from Facebook and other social media firms about how an attack that killed 50 mosque-goers was livestreamed on their platforms.Saying there were “further questions to be answered” by the tech giants, Ardern said Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg had been in contact and “acknowledged what has occurred here in New Zealand”.A horrific video shot by the gunmen who carried out the mosque massacre was livestreamed on Facebook before being removed by the company.
