To begin with, the idea was to bring out a magazine fully dedicated to game of hockey, which is our national sport. Apart from that my own association with this game dates back to my childhood when I started playing hockey in school probably in the age of 10 or 12, it was in this background and my love for this game that initially I decided to bring out a hockey magazine because still there is no magazine in Pakistan that deals with this sport.

SWAT, FEB 01, (DNA) -Swat valley has gradually lost its grandeur and idyllic beauty. Faced with the massive deforestation, it is becoming a shadow of its former self.
Gone are the days the valley was billed as ‘Paradise on Earth’ and ‘The Switzerland of Asia, being a treasure trove of fascinating landscapes, sprawling meadows, azure lakes and fruit orchards.
In many respects, the valley was little more than a holiday destination. Thousands of tourists would visit Swat to relish its sights and sounds and become one with nature. In its towering mountains and spellbinding beauty, they would find momentary reprieve from the cares of the world. Rejuvenated by this rich and spiritual journey, they would return home in a peaceful state of mind.
India does not qualify for permanent UNSC membership : FO
ISLAMABAD, Jan 29 (DNA): Pakistan on Thursday said that India did not qualify to become full member of the United Nations Security Council given its record of violation of UN resolutions particularly pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir. During weekly news briefing in Islamabad, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said Pakistan has always advocated effective and feasible reforms of the UN Security Council and its working methods on the basis of consensus among the UN members.

Uzbekistan is suffering disturbances due to national terrorists and religious threats: suspected members of the Uzbek Islamist Movement and of the Islamic Jihad Union are frequently arrested and condemned on the Uzbek territory. The country also has other regional concerns: drug trade (mainly coming from Afghanistan) that benefits to corruption in each State level, from socio-demographic preoccupations (60% of the population is under thirty) to problems in the insertion of ethnic minorities.

Mr. Sherali Jononov is a career diplomat. Ever since his appointment as Ambassador to Pakistan, he has undertaken a number of steps to further strengthen relations between Tajikistan and Pakistan. The construction of Tajik Embassy building inside the diplomatic enclave has already started, which speaks volumes for the close relationship between the two brotherly countries. Mr. Jononov is keen in further expanding and diversifying bilateral relations. His country is especially keen to help Pakistan in the energy sector.
