ISLAMABAD, APR 07 (DNA) – Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has launched an electronic monitoring system in technical collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for promptly resolving the inquiries, complaints of intending pilgrims during the Hajj days.According to official sources, helpline has been dedicated for responding to inquiries, complaints of the Hujjaj. The ministry has also developed android application named ‘Pak Hajj Moavin.’ ‘Pak Hajj Guide’, Mobile SMS service has been launched for dissemination of information.
World Bank projects Pakistan’s GDP to decelerate to 2.7 percent in FY2019-20
The GDP growth in Pakistan is predicted to go down by 3.4 percent in the fiscal year 2019 and would lose pace further the following year by 2.7 percent owing to the constriction of fiscal and monetary policies to attend to macroeconomic imbalances, reported the World Bank.The World Bank in the latest edition of South Asia Economic Focus, Exports Wanted, cited macroeconomic imbalances while also holding the slowdown in the country’s GDP growth to majorly fiscal and current account deficits.
Electricity shortfall surpasses 2500MW
LAHORE (DNA) – With the arrival of summer in the country, the electricity shortfall has surpassed 2500 megawatts and power outages of three to seven hours are started, Dunya News reported on Sunday.According to sources, the power consumption has reached 16000 megawatts whereas the production is only 13500 megawatts.Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) is facing shortage of 490 megawatts. The LESCO is conducting loadshedding on the basis of the line losses and the electricity theft from its 1775 feeders.
20 homes burnt to ashes in Isa Khan village
KHAIRPUR (DNA) – At least 20 houses were burned to the ground and three people sustained critical burn injuries on Saturday night when a power pole crashed to the ground and sparked a devastating fire in Isa Khan village of Khairpur Nathan Shah Taluka, a city and taluka of Dadu District in Sindh province.Wind helped spread the fire that eventually destroyed the houses and left many families homeless.Goods worth millions of rupees were burnt to ashes, and the incident is being investigated by the local police.Fire Brigade officers immediately rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire after several hours of operation.The injured persons were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

NAB summons Khawaja Asif on April 9
RAWALPINDI (DNA) – National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi summoned former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif in assets beyond means case on April 9.Sources reveal that NAB’s joint investigation team will record Khawaja Asif’s statement.It is pertinent to mention here that the anti-corruption watchdog has served a second notice to Khawaja Asif.Earlier, Khawaja Asif was issued summons for April 1, he could not attend the hearing on account of being overseas.
