Bahrain foreign minister meets COAS Gen. Bajwa

RAWALPINDI, (DNA) – Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) at GHQ.During the meeting matters of mutual interest including security situation in the region were discussed. The visiting dignitary acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan’s contributions for conflict prevention in the region and also pledged to keep working for better relations between the two brotherly countries.

French businessmen keen to invest in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, APR 9 (DNA) – The visiting delegation of leading French companies has expressed confidence in the economic policies of the government adding the business climate of Pakistan is improving gradually.The security situation has also been improved that is why leading French companies are keen to explore various business as well as investment opportunities in Pakistan.The head of the delegation Thierry PFLIMLIN and Ambassador of France Marc Barety expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the French residence.

Qureshi phones Zarif as Pakistan sends relief goods to Iran

ISLAMABAD, APR 08 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi telephoned the Foreign Minister of Iran Mr. Javad Zarif to convey the grief of the government and people of Pakistan on the situation created by unprecedented flash floods in Iran, and leading to loss of valuable lives and property in the brotherly country.He expressed heartfelt condolences and prayed for the Maghfirah of over 70 people who have lost their lives due to this natural disaster.

PM Imran approves detailed Plan of Action for Pak-Turkey SEF

ISLAMABAD, APR 08 (DNA) – Prime Minister Imran Khan, at a high level meeting on Monday, approved the detailed Plan of Action for Pak-Turkey Strategic Economic Framework.The Plan of Action will be shared with the Turkish side for finalization and formal signing of the Strategic Economic Framework as early as possible.Secretary Economic Affairs Division, during his presentation, briefed the Prime Minister that the plan to forge greater bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey under the proposed SEF includes cooperation in agriculture, low-costing housing, tourism & culture, investment & industrial cooperation, auto industry, banking & finance, health and pharmaceuticals, transport & communication, education & vocational training, aviation, water resource development, energy & power, science & technology, information communication technology, development planning, postal services and implementation of small scale projects.

Azam Swati likely to get his ministry back

ISLAMABAD, APR 8 (DNA) – PTI leader Senator Azam Swati is likely to get his ministry back sources told on Monday.It may be mentioned here that Azam Swati was asked to resign after a brawl occurred at his Chak Shehzad farm house.The apex court had asked FBR to ascertain assets of Azam Swati and submit a report. Sources said that the FBR reportedly had confirmed that Azam Swati all assets are in order.Consequently, the PTI leadership has decided in principle to again take Swati in the cabinet. The decision in this effect is to be made soon=DNA

PM Sectt catches fire; rescue work in progress

ISLAMABAD (DNA)– The Prime Minister Secretariat caught fire on Monday at the 6th floor.It may be mentioned here that the Prime Minister was chairing a high level meeting when the 6th floor caught fire due to short circuit.The Adviser to Prime Minister Nadeem Afzal Chan told media that the PM was informed about fire incident during the meeting the Prime Minister continued with the meeting till it ended according to schedule.The fire brigade immediately rushed to the spot and carried out rescue work.The building was immediately got vacated by the security staff.

LHC bars NAB from arresting Hamza Shahbaz

LAHORE: (DNA) –  The Lahore High Court has barred the National Accountability Bureau from arresting the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shahbaz till further orders.The younger Shahbaz had approached the LHC on Saturday against the anti-graft body which had tried twice last week to arrest him but failed due to resistance by the PML-N workers.The court granted bail  and directed the PML-N leader to deposit Rs 10 million surety bonds.

16 candidates shortlisted for state-run TV MD’s post

ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has shortlisted 16 candidates out of 43 applicants for the post of new Managing Director (MD) of the state-run television.The ministry invited applications for the post OF MD on February 1. Besides, former director ISPR Brigadier (R) Attiqur Rehman the other candidates are Dr Muhammad Zubair Iqbal, Jamal Akhtar, Kaneez Fatima, Umar Farooq Khan, Yasmin Joya, Zahid Iqbal Mirza, Iftikhar Hussain, Capt (R) Ata Muhammad Khan, Ali Hameed, Ahmad Jawad, Muhammad Iqbal Tabish, Hassan Iqbal, Amir Mansoor, Amjad A Awan and Mansoor Ahmed Qureshi. The selection committee will send panel of three officers to cabinet after conducting their interviews.

Mushahid praises New Zealand PM for ‘leadership with big vision,

COLOMBO, APR 07 (DNA) – Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman, Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, praised Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern of “tiny” New Zealand for showing ‘leadership with a big vision, a big heart, compassion and humanity in the fight against racism and bigotry”.He added ‘New Zealand set a fine example of leadership after the crimes against humanity committed by a terror attack on a Christchurch mosque full of Muslim worshippers’.

Pakistan warns India against any misadventure

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – Pakistan on Sunday summoned Indian deputy High commissioner to Foreign Office to lodge a protest against Indian aggression.According to details, the FO warned the rival India against any misadventure. The warning came after the statement of Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi who said Pakistan has “reliable intelligence” that India is preparing for another act of aggression against the country.Pakistan in its protest stated that it would retaliate against any aggression by Indian forces. DG south Dr. Faisal summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner to lodge protest.
