LAHORE (DNA) – Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Saturday will pay a day-long visit to Punjab examine political and administrative affairs in the province.As per schedule of the premier, he will lay foundation stone of Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme for the construction of low-cost housing units in Renala Khurd in Okara.The provincial cabinet of Punjab has already approved release of Rs5 billion to the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency for the project.
Boeing plane skids into Florida river in crash-landing, no fatalities
MIAMI: (DNA) – A Boeing 737 slid off a runway into a river after crash-landing at a Florida naval air station on Friday, officials said, with no fatalities reported.The plane carrying 143 people including crew from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba ended in shallow water next to the air station in Jacksonville, with all passengers safely evacuated, naval authorities said.“There were 136 passengers and seven aircrew on board and all have been accounted for,” Naval Air Station Jacksonville said in a statement.

Proposed hike in petrol price challenged in Lahore High Court
LAHORE (DNA) – A petition on Saturday in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenged the Economic Coordination Committee s (ECC) decision to raise the price of petrol by Rs9.35 per liter.It stated that the international crude oil prices remained stagnant; but the government has increased the prices which would severely affect the masses.The petition contended that the increase in prices of petroleum was the violation of Articles 9, 14 and 15 of the Constitution of Pakistan, as it would cause further inflation. It pleaded with the court to declare the ECC’s decision null and void.

IMF team visits Planning commission
ISLAMABAD, MAY 3 (DNA) – IMF Mission Chief Ernesto Rigo called on Secretary Planning, Development and Reform Zafar Hasan to discuss PSDP, CPEC and other aspects of planning including macro-economic policies, the Planning Ministry said Friday.Project Director Hassan Daud, Chief Macroeconomic Zafar-ul-Hassan and senior officials of the Ministry were also present in the meeting.The two sides exchanged program on the growth targets as well as policy adjustments to keep the growth momentum. ECC approves sale of petrol at Rs108 per liter: sources
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has approved sale of petrol at Rs108 per liter, sources told.The ECC meeting chaired by Adviser on Finance Abdul Hafeez Shaikh has also approved increase in diesel price by Rs4.89 per liter. New prices will be applicable from 12:00am on May 4. On April 30, the federal cabinet had deferred the proposed price hike in petroleum products by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and referred the matter to the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for further consideration.

Pakistan Embassy in France woo French tourists to visit Pakistan
PARIS, MAY 03 (DNA) – Embassy of Pakistan to France in collaboration with leading French tour operator company Clio organized an outreach event yesterday as a part of its initiative to promote Pakistan as a preferred destination amongst French and European tourists.
