Pasta, as part of a healthy diet, not tied to weight gain

NEW YORK, APR 18 (DNA) – To lose weight, or just avoid gaining it, pasta is not one of the harmful carbs that needs to be sacrificed, researchers say. Although pasta is made from refined grains, it’s low on the glycemic index, a measure of how quickly a person’s blood sugar levels rise after a food is eaten, the authors write in BMJ Open. They analyzed data from 32 previous trials that compared eating pasta as part of a diet based on other low-glycemic foods versus eating a high-glycemic diet without pasta.

Bomb explodes at Indian diplomatic outpost in Nepal

KATHMANDU, APR 17 (DNA) – A bomb that exploded outside an Indian diplomatic post in southern Nepal caused damage and drew attention for being a rare attack on a foreign mission, officials said. The homemade device went off late Monday at Biratnagar, 200 kilometres (125 miles) southeast of Kathmandu and close to the Indian border. “There were no injuries in the pressure-cooker bomb blast, but the wall suffered some minor damage. We are investigating,” senior district police official Arun Kumar told.

China to become ‘important’ tourism partner for Turkey
