ISLAMABAD, AUG 9 (DNA) -Fulfilling the mandate of the leaders between two countries to broaden the scope of the Indonesia-Pakistan Preferential Trade Agreement (IP-PTA) and following up on the implementation of the IP-PTA Amendment Protocol, the delegations of Indonesia and Pakistan have begun the first negotiation on the Indonesian Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) -Pakistan Trade in Goods Agreement (IP-TIGA) in Islamabad, Pakistan.The Indonesian delegation (Delri) at this meeting was chaired by the Director of Bilateral Negotiations, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, while the Pakistani delegation was led by the Joint Secretary (FTA Wing) of the Ministry of Commerce of Pakistan, Shafiq A. Shahzad.
Morocco Becomes Net Exporter of Electricity to Spain
RABAT, AUG 09 (DNA) – According to the figures of the semi-public operator Red Eléctrica de España, the Kingdom has become a net exporter of electricity to Spain.Morocco exported 76% of Morocco-Spain border exchanges of electricity and imported only 24%.Spain’s electricity import from Morocco in 2018 reached almost 20,588 GWh (Gigawatts/hour), while its exports to Morocco were only 10,442 GWh.According to the Foreign Exchange Office 2018 annual report, electricity exports generated MAD 158 million in 2018, compared to nearly zero in 2017.
Statement attributable to spokesman for Secretary-General on situation in Jammu and Kashmir
The Secretary-General has been following the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with concern and makes an appeal for maximum restraint.The position of the United Nations on this region is governed by the Charter of the United Nations and applicable Security Council resolutions.The Secretary-General also recalls the 1972 Agreement on bilateral relations between India and Pakistan, also known as the Simla Agreement, which states that the final status of Jammu and Kashmir is to be settled by peaceful means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations.The Secretary-General is also concerned over reports of restrictions on the Indian-side of Kashmir, which could exacerbate the human rights situation in the region.
UAE expresses concern over developments in Jammu and Kashmir, calls for restraint and dialogue

Report on Pakistan, Norway institution program presented to Norwegian envoy
ISLAMABAD, AUG 08 (DNA) – Ambassador Kjell-Gunnar Eriksen received the final report on Pakistan-Norway Institution Program from Dr Mohammed Jehazev Deputy Chairman of Pakistan’s Planning Commission.The dissemination ceremony took place in the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform. with representatives from a wide range of Pakistani institutions present.The program was implemented in the years 2005-2018 and has initiated fruitful cooperation between Norwegian and Pakistani institutions.Among them are universities, research institutes and hospitals. The program is now completed, but the contacts and cooperation are continuing.The Norwegian funding over the years amounts to 40 million NOK.=DNA

India urges Pakistan to review its decisions

India on Thursday gave its reaction on Pakistan’s decision to downgrade bilateral relations and suspend trade activities.According to Indian officials Pakistan decided to take certain “unilateral” actions in respect to its bilateral relations with India. This includes the downgrading of diplomatic relations. Recovery of Rs9-10b is expected after Eid ul Azha: Shahzad Akbar
ISLAMABAD, AUG 07 (DNA) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Barrister Shahzad Akbar on Wednesday claimed that a recovery of around Rs9-10 billion is expected after Eidul Azha.Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said that incarcerated former prime minister Nawaz Sharif received US$15 million loan in Bahrain and got subsidy through offshore company, adding that the sugar mill was built before the money was transferred to Pakistan.The special assistant said that machinery for the sugar mill had to be bought with the debt money.
