Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood represented Pakistan at Paris Peace Forum

PARIS, NOV 12 (DNA) – Shafqat Mahmood, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training represented Pakistan in the opening session of Paris Peace Forum inaugurated by the French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron in Paris today. The Ambassador of Pakistan to France Mr. Moin ul Haque also accompanied the Minister.Later, the Minister visited Pakistan booth where a Pakistani project, “Evaluation of Right to Information Implementation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)”, was showcased on the sidelines of the Paris Peace Forum. Mr. Taimur Saleem Khan Jhagra, the Finance Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Shaukat Ali, Provincial Minister for Information and other members of the Project team were present on the occasion.

Members of Parliamentary Friendship Group of Uzbekistan meet Ambassador Furqat Sudikov

ISLAMABAD, NOV 12 (DNA) – Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Furqat Sudikov had a fruitful meeting with the leadership and active members of Parliamentary Friendship Group for Uzbekistan under National Assembly of Pakistan.

During the lunch-meeting, they discussed issues of enhancing bilateral inter parliamentarian relations between the two countries including improvement of treaty-law database, cooperation in the field of trade, logistics, investments and cultural interaction. SBP issues commemorative coin of Rs550 to mark Baba Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary

KARACHI (DNA) – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued commemorative coin worth Rs550 to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.One side of the coin has the image of Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib, while the other side of the coin is engraved with the words of ‘Islamic Republic of Pakistan’.In this regard, SBP Governor Reza Baqir said the purpose of releasing the commemorative coin by the central bank was to supplement and be part of national efforts to promote interfaith harmony.He said the founder of Sikh religion preached the message of peace and brotherhood. He expressed the confidence that through this coin his message will reach every household.

Federal cabinet subcommittee deliberates on removal of Nawaz Sharif’s name from ECL

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – A subcommittee of federal cabinet, headed by Federal Minister for Law Farogh Naseem, is on Tuesday deliberating on removing former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL).According to details, the subcommittee will prepare its recommendations and forward them to the federal cabinet which will take the final decision under Prime Minister Imran Khan.It has been learnt that notices regarding the subcommittee meeting were issued to all parties to ensure their presence. Let it be known that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif had filed the application for removal of Nawaz Sharif’s name from the ECL.

Nawaz Sharif’s health worsening day by day: Marriyum Aurangzeb

LAHORE (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday has said that ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s health is deteriorating day by day.In a statement, the spokesperson said that former PM is already taking high dose of steroids which is further affecting his health.She told that the doctors have suggested to shift Nawaz Sharif to abroad for medical treatment on immediate basis.On the other hand, committee, under the supervision of law ministry, will present recommendations on removing Nawaz Sharif’s name from Exit Control List (ECL) in Federal Cabinet session today.

‘Midway’ defeats ‘Doctor Sleep’ in surprise Box Office upset

LOS ANGELES,  – In a surprise box office win, Roland Emmerich’s World War II epic “Midway” took down the competition in North America to land in first place with $17.5 million.Heading into the weekend, Warner Bros.’ Stephen King adaptation “Doctor Sleep” was widely expected to take the top prize, but the R-rated sequel to 1980’s “The Shining” debuted at No. 2 with a slumbering $14.1 million from 3,855 venues, nearly half of studio projections. With lackluster ticket sales across domestic box office charts, ticket sales were down over 26% from the same weekend last year, according to Comscore.

Naegleria claims another life in Karachi, toll rises to 16

KARACHI (DNA) – Naegleria has claimed another life in Karachi on Monday. This was the 16th death reported in in the ongoing year because of the disease.According to details, 28-year-old Wakeel Khan a resident of New Karachi area was brought to a private clinic four days ago where he died of the disease during treatment.According to the researchers, Naegleria has a fatality rate of more than 98 percent. It is transmitted when contaminated water enters the body through the nose and cannot be passed person-to-person.

PNS Shamsheer, Muhafiz participate in Int’l maritime exercises

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSHEER (with embarked helicopter), MUHAFIZ and Pakistan Navy’s Long Range Maritime Patrol (LRMP) P3C Aircraft participated in International Maritime Exercise -2019 (IMX-19) conducted in Arabian Sea, Gulf and Gulf of Oman.Naval assets and personnel from more than 50 countries participated in the exercise which continued for more than two weeks.International Maritime Exercise-2019 provided Pakistan Navy an opportunity to enhance interoperability with the world navies. During the exercise, both Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSFIEER and MUHAFIZ also visited Muscat and Bahrain, respectively.

Air Pollution contributes 50 percent of total environmental degradation cost, Minister

ISLAMABAD, NOV 11 (DNA) – Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin Aslam on Monday termed air pollution a silent killer and said that the economic cost of environmental degradation over the last decade has gone up from 6 per cent to 9 per cent, where air pollution contributes 50 per cent of the total cost.He said this during a seminar titled “Combating air pollution for improved public health, agriculture and economy: Time to act now”, organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) here at Islamabad.
