ISLAMABAD, APR 14 (DNA) –The embassy of Indonesia held an election bazaar at the embassy premises to facilitate people to take part in voting.Indonesian citizens from Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi who came to the embassy premises organized various Indonesian food and drinks.

China becomes top destination for Pakistani students

BEIJING: (DNA) –  Pakistan ranked third in the number of international students currently studying in China with 28,023 students, according to a statement issued by China’s Ministry of Education.South Korea ranked first with 50,600 students, followed by Thailand with 28,608, India with 23,198, and the United States with 20,996.A total of 492,185 international students from 196 countries and regions studied in China, last year, up 0.62 percent on the previous year.The number of students pursuing academic education increased by 6.86 percent year-on-year to 258,122, accounting for 52.44 percent of the total.

Pakistan gets new constraints from FATF to curb financial crimes

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has handed over Pakistan its agenda afresh for an action plan in compliance with the recommendations on global standards against financial crimes to warrant Pakistan’s exclusion from its grey list.Reportedly, the finance ministry has received the recommendations which require documentation of all Sarafa (gold) markets in the country, restriction on sale and purchase of gold items using cash and instead payment must be made with a bank card, and collection of data of gold buyers.

Health ministry directs AGP to perform audit of DRAP from 2013-18

KARACHI (DNA) – Minister for National Health Aamir Mehmood Kiani on Saturday wrote a letter to the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), directing it to conduct an audit of the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) from the period 2013-18.According to the minister, the move would assist regulate inexpensive medicines and the quality of pharmaceutical drugs.

NAB hints at action against Fawad Ch over recent statement

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal Saturday took notice of Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry’s statement over Aleem Khan’s case and hinted at taking action against the minister.The NAB said that it has been decided to analyze Fawad Chaudhry’s recent statements regarding the anti-corruption watchdog, and it will be determined whether his declarations intervene in the NAB matters or not.

Hanif Abbasi released from Camp Jail

LAHORE (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi has Saturday been released from Lahore’s Camp Jail on bail following the Lahore High Court (LHC) order.The bail was granted against two surety bonds worth Rs5 million each. PML-N workers in large numbers welcomed Hanif Abbasi outside the Camp Jail by showering flower petals. He visited Data Darbar afterwards.

NAB summons Shehbaz Sharif’s wife, daughters in assets beyond means case

LAHORE (DNA) – Expanding the scope of investigation, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned ex-Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif’s wife and his two daughters in the assets beyond means case.Nusrat Shehbaz has been asked to appear personally before NAB Lahore on April 17, whereas, Rabia will appear on 18th and Javeria will appear on 19th April.

Hazaras protest killing of community members after 20 dead in Quetta blast

QUETTA (DNA) – Following the horrific explosion at fruit and vegetable market in Quetta’s Hazarganji area which left at least 20 people including two children, a Frontier Corps official and eight members of the Hazara community dead injured 48 others, Hazara community staged a protest demonstration at the city’s Western Bypass against the killings.The protesters was of the view that the Hazara community was being targeted but they weren’t provided effective security.

Eight killed as bus falls into seasonal nullah in South Waziristan

PESHAWAR (DNA) – At least eight people were killed while five children went missing as bus carrying 25 wedding guests fell into seasonal nullah in South Waziristan. According to details, the vehicle was en route to Gul Kach for a marriage ceremony when the mishap took place.Getting information about the incident, the security personnel arrived at the scene and pulled out bodies of eight people while search of others was underway.Locals and members of district administration were taking part in the operation to rescue the victims.
