ISLAMABAD, APR 22 (DNA) – Pakistan strongly condemns the continuing incarceration and deteriorating health of Mr. Yasin Malik, Chairman Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), since 22 February 2019, on trumped up charges.Mr. Malik, was arrested earlier under the draconian Public Safety Law and despite his critically worsening health was shifted to the notorious Tihar jail.Despite his serious ill health and in violation of legal rights, ethics and norms, his family, who were informed after considerable delay, has not been permitted to meet him.
Imran Khan’s visit to further intensify Sino-Pak ties: Ambassador Yao Jing

ISLAMABAD, APR 22 (DNA) – Ambassador of People’s Republic of China Yao Jing said on Monday the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China shall further intensify relations between the two countries.He said the Pakistani PM will meet with the top Chinese leadership and also leaders of various countries attending the Second Belt and Road Forum to be held in Beijing from April 25 to 27.The Chinese ambassador expressed these views while addressing a crowded press conference at the Chinese embassy.

Iranian President Rouhani receives PM Imran at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace
ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday arrived at Tehran’s Saadabad Palace and was received by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.The premier, on his maiden trip to Islamabad’s south-western neighbour, was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of the Iranian military.PM Imran arrived in Tehran late Sunday after a brief stop-over in Mashhad on the invitation of the Iranian president. The premier and his delegation were received by Iran’s health minister and minister-in-waiting Dr Saeed Namaki.

Jokowi’s election win sets up Indonesia political free-for-all
JAKARTA , (DNA) — The electoral victory of Indonesian President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo last week represents a win for the nation’s political elite.Although the official count is not due until late May, an unofficial quick count suggests voters gave Widodo, 57, a former furniture exporter, a solid mandate. His challenger, former general Prabowo Subianto, appears to have lost to Widodo for a second time.Markets are reacting with relief. The rupiah strengthened around 1% on Wednesday as Widodo appeared to be cruising to a likely victory. The country’s stock exchange was closed on election day but the Jakarta Composite Index rose as much as 2.3% on Thursday.
