KARACHI: Chairman Businessmen Group & Former President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) Siraj Kassam Teli, while thoroughly briefing the British Deputy High Commissioner Mike Nithavrianakis about KCCI and BMG at a meeting during his visit to KCCI, informed that KCCI with a strong membership base of more than 22,000 members, which is even greater than the accumulated membership of all other 42 Chambers of Commerce across Pakistan, has been successfully resolving issues being faced by the business and industrial community.

Afghan Taliban ready for 10-day ceasefire: report

KABUL/PESHAWAR: Sources in the Afghan Taliban on Friday revealed that they are ready to implement a 10-day ceasefire with US troops, reduce their hostilities with Afghan forces and discussions with Afghan government if it reaches an agreement with US negotiators in talks in Doha.

If an agreement is reached, the move could revive hopes for a long-term solution to the conflict in Afghanistan.

Taliban and US negotiation teams met on Wednesday and Thursday to discuss the signing of a peace deal, according to a spokesman for the Taliban office in Doha, Qatar.

Federal government puts forward three names for Sindh IG post

KARACHI JAN 17 (DNA) – After provincial government, the federation on Friday has also put forward names of former Karachi Police Chief Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Ghulam Nabi Memon and AIG Establishment and Training Dr Aftab Ahmed Pathan for the post of Sindh IG.

According to details, the police department has prepared its reply over provincial government’s charge sheet, declaring political interference as cause of Kaleem Imam’s removal from Sindh IG post.

Sources told that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh leadership and some leaders from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are agreed on the name of Dr Amir.\

Disaster Management Authority being strengthened: Zartaj Gul

ISLAMABAD, Jan 16 (DNA):In order to enhance the capacity of flood departments, Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Thursday assured that Incumbent government was taking concrete measure to strengthen Disaster Management Authority in future for coping with impending disaster risks and better disaster management.

Zartaj Gul talking to private news channel, reiterated the resolve of his government to leave no stone unturned and take all possible measures to mitigate the suffering caused to the people affected by the recent snow-rain victims in the country.

Completion of projects under PSDP top priority: Asad Umar     

RAWALPINDI, JAN 16 (DNA) – Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has said that the government’s top priority is the early completion of projects under the Public Sector Development Projects (PSDP).

The present government spent a huge amount of 75 billion rupee on development schemes in the month of December 2019 alone under the PSDP. In the previous six months this expenditure was around 97 billion rupee.

Members of Ukrainian CEC to monitor parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

BAKU, JAN 15 – Members of the Ukrainian Central Election Commission (CEC) will visit Azerbaijan to observe the parliamentary elections to be held on February 9, press service of the Ukrainian CEC has told.Two members of the Ukrainian CEC will arrive in Azerbaijan on February 7-10 and monitor the pre-election situation and voting process.As part of the visit, the Ukrainian delegation will also hold meetings at the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan and express their opinion on the election results.
