Coronavirus: every day counts

Coronavirus has thrown the entire world in a tailspin, forcing the world capitals to declare national emergencies, quarantine hundreds of thousands of people, slap international travel restrictions, padlock their educational institutions, put off international sports events, allocate big sums of money to fight off the deadly infection and manipulate the flow of information.

President Alvi leaves for China on two-day

ISLAMABAD, March 16 (DNA): President Arif Alvi left for Beijing on
Monday a two-day visit to China at the invitation Chinese President Xi
Jinping.The president is accompanied by a delegation including the foreign
minister, minister for planning and senior officials, a foreign office
statement said.Alvi will meet with President Xi and other Chinese leaders. A number of
memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed, the statement
said.

Azerbaijan Airlines temporarily suspends flights to a number of countries

BAKU,  – As the World Health Organization has declared coronavirus infection (COVİD-19) a global pandemic, as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVİD-19 virus in the country from March 15, Azerbaijan Airlines temporarily suspended the Baku-Paris-Baku, Baku-Berlin-Baku, Baku-Nursultan-Baku, Baku-Aktau-Baku, Baku-Almaty-Baku flights, the task force established by the Cabinet of Ministers told.

Coronavirus tally reaches 38 with new Karachi, Islamabad cases

KARACHI, MAR 15 (DNA) – Four new COVID-19 cases have been reported in Karachi and one in Islamabad, taking the country’s count to 38.Three patients tested positive for the virus in Karachi on Sunday. The fourth patient has no recent travel history.Of the 21 cases in Sindh, two have recovered and been discharged and 19 are under treatment.A case was also reported in Islamabad. PIMS spokesperson Dr Waseem Khawaja confirmed the case and said the man was the husband of an already confirmed case. The woman is on the ventilator.=DNA

Norway Closes All Airports To Foreigners As Coronavirus Cases Mount

Just 48 hours after implementing the most drastic emergency measures ever seen in peacetime in Norway, the Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has announced several additional restrictions. From 8am CET on Monday, March 16, all Norwegian airports and seaports will no longer allow foreigners who are not residents of Norway to enter the country.

Lahore High Court bans entry of unrelated lawyers, petitioners

LAHORE, MAR 15 (DNA) – The Lahore High Court issued on Saturday a 12-point list of precautionary measures against the coronavirus for everyone visiting the courts.The decision was taken during a meeting led by Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh. A notice covering the 12 points was issued after the meeting.According to the notice, lawyers and petitioners have been banned from entering court premises unless they have a case hearing. Members of the lawyers associations and clerks have been barred from entering courtrooms.

PM Imran says personally overseeing anti-virus efforts as Pakistan’s tally rises to 33

QUETTA, MAR 14 – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday made his first public statement on the coronavirus pandemic, telling the nation that he is “personally overseeing measures” to deal with the disease.Taking to Twitter, the premier advised the public to follow safety instructions issued by the government regarding COVID-19.“While there is a need for caution there is no need for panic,” he wrote, announcing that he will address the nation on the issue “soon”.
