Violence will push Hong Kong down ´path of no return´: city leader

HONG KONG:  (DNA) –  Violence during protests in Hong Kong will push the city “down a path of no return,” the city´s leader Carrie Lam warned on Tuesday.“Violence, no matter if it´s using violence or condoning violence, will push Hong Kong down a path of no return, will plunge Hong Kong society into a very worrying and dangerous situation,” Lam said during a press conference.”The situation in Hong Kong in the past week has made me very worried that we have reached this dangerous situation,” she added.

India’s unilateral actions in Occupied Kashmir causing regional tensions: Asad Majeed

WASHINGTON, (DNA) – Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Asad Majeed Khan on Tuesday said  India’s aggressive and unilateral actions have posed a grave threat to a very tense situation. Asad Majeed  said: “Unilaterally changing the status of a region which has been seen by the international community over the years as a disputed territory … has really put the region at the verge of a serious conflict.”

Operations resume at Hong Kong airport after protests: authorities

HONK KONG: (DNA) = Operations resumed at Hong Kong airport on Tuesday morning, authorities said, with flights due to start departing and arriving a day after protests shut down the major travel hub.“We have resumed check-ins,” a spokesman for the airport told, confirming flights would be resuming within the next hour at one of the world´s busiest aviation hubs.The flight status board at the departures hall showed several flights listed as “boarding soon” with new take-off times listed for others.

India fails to persuade China over its unilateral actions in Occupied Kashmir

BEIJING, (DNA) – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday said Beijing was highly concerned over the current situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir.In meeting with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who’s in China  on a three-day visit, Wang Yi said New Delhi’s move to end the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir will change the status quo of the disputed area and result in a tense situation in the region.”China opposes any unilateral action that complicates the situation in the region,” he added.

Curfew continues even on Eid-ul-Azha in occupied Kashmir

Srinagar (DNA): In occupied Kashmir, unprecedented curfew and communication blackout continue on the 8th consecutive day, today (Monday) even on day of the great Muslim festival, Eidul Azha.The Indian government, on August 05, had snapped television, telephone and internet links to prevent demonstrations  against its decision of revoking Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Imran Khan briefs Indonesian president about latest Kashmir situation

ISLAMABAD, AUG 11 (DNA) – The telephone call was part of Prime Minister’s outreach to sensitize world leaders about the grave situation in Indian occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IoJ&K) resulting from India’s latest unilateral and illegal actions in violation of the UNSC resolutions and international law.This was the first telephonic conversation between the two leaders.The Prime Minister informed President Widodo that IoJ&K remained under a complete clampdown and that there was a serious risk of innocent Kashmiris getting killed in large numbers as a result of enhanced repression by Indian security forces.

Iran president calls for diplomatic settlement of Kashmir issue

TEHRAN, (DNA) – Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has called for diplomatic settlement of Kashmir issue, saying that Iran advocates restoration of rights of the Muslims living in other countries.Rouhani said that he contacted Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan by phone during which he said that Pakistani government will spare no effort to re-establish peace and security in Kashmir.Congratulating the Muslim’s Eid Al-Adha on a phone call, President Rouhani said, “Iran and Pakistan have always been two friendly, of good neighborly ties and they will remain so.”
