Highest Altitude Marathon concludes at Serena
ISLAMABAD, SEPT 24 (DNA) – An award ceremony was held at Islamabad Serena Hotel for the Serena sponsored Highest Altitude Road Marathon Khunjerab Pakistan 2019.The chief guest on the occasion was Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan HI(M).A total of 154 athletes, including 39 international runners from 17 countries, participated in the race, which was held in three different categories, ultra-marathon (50km), marathon (42km) and half-marathon (21km). A brief video compilation of the key moments of the high-altitude marathon was shown to the audience, and athletes shared with the audience the key moments and memorable anecdotes from the marathon.
COAS directs immediate rescue operation for victims of earthquake
RAWALPINDI, SEPT 24 (DNA) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday directed an immediate rescue operation in aid of civil administration for victims of earthquake in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army troops with aviation and medical support teams have been dispatched following the directions of the COAS.Earlier, at last four persons including a minor girl were killed and dozens others including women and children were injured in Azad Kashmir’s Mirpur area following the collapse of a roof of a building after a moderate 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted parts of Pakistan and other countries in the region.
