Rawalpindi, OCT 26 – State Minister for Climate Change Zartaj Gul paid a visit to the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Monday. During her visit she was given a briefing on the rain water harvesting system. She lauded the RCCI efforts in taking lead in making RCCI first green chamber of Pakistan by adopting rainwater harvesting and recharge system along with installation of Solar Panels for energy conservation.

The other chambers and organizations should follow the same, she added. She assured full support to RCCI for its key initiatives for promoting regional trade and advocating on clean and green Pakistan.

She said that the Clean Pakistan goal can only be achieved through public private partnership and the chamber of commerce can play a vital role in bridging the gap here..

Later in her address with the traders community she said that Pakistan is one of the water stressed countries where the ground water table has dangerously dropped to a lower level. Plastic bag ban was another initiative of her ministry which needs full support of the masses and mainly business community.

Pollution is one of the main issues that the PTI led federal government aims to tackle through initiatives like Clean and Green Pakistan. The PTI government has launched many projects including 10 Billion Trees Tsunami project on patron of the Billion Trees Project of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and expanded it across Pakistan.

Earlier President RCCI Mohammad Nasir Mirza in his welcome address said that traders are ready to join the Government for its efforts to address climate change through various steps including tree plantation, ban on plastic bags and use of renewable energy. He said the chamber was implementing the prime minister’s vision of a green Pakistan. Rainwater, through the newly-installed system, can be collected as it has the capacity to recharge 3,000 gallons of groundwater per hour.

He also gave a short briefing on RCCI current activities and ongoing programs.

Group Leader Sohail Altaf said that there is a need to link green initiative with incentives and suggested that tax rebates shall be introduced for adopting rain water harvesting.

Senior Vice President Osman Ashraf, Vice President Shahraiz A Malik, former president Raja Amer Iqbal, members of the executive committee, women members and RCCI members attended the meeting.

QUETTA, OCT 26 (DNA) – A man who presented a traditional Balochi chador to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in Quetta has several criminal cases registered against him.

Ali Hassan Birohi had presented Maryam with the chador as per Balochistan’s tradition of respect in the provincial capital where she arrived to attend the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) third power show. He is nominated in several FIRs registered at various police stations and had also been arrested.

The opposition’s PDM held a third anti-government rally in the Balochistan capital on Sunday, defying a government warning that the public gathering can be targeted by militants. Maryam Nawaz, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman and other opposition leaders addressed the rally.

Addressing the public meeting at Ayub Stadium in Quetta, Maryam had said that the real reason behind Balochistan’s problems was that the vote was not given respect. She said that the PML-N government, in its tenure, had given scholarships to students from Balochistan in Punjab’s universalities but the current government abolished scholarships. = DNA

RAWALPINDI – General Hulusi Akar (Retired), Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Turkey called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

During the meeting, views were exchanged on issues of mutual interest including regional stability as well as defence and security cooperation. COAS said that both countries share great history of brotherly relations which is being transformed into enduring partnership.

The dignitary commended the role of Pakistan for regional peace and stability, especially the efforts of Pakistan Army in battling the scourge of terrorism.

BEIJING, October 26 (DNA): Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BRAIA) 2020 Council Meeting and General Assembly was jointly held online by Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), China and National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Pakistan, Gwadar Pro reported on Monday.

According to NPU, Wang Yiran, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA), on behalf of the co-initiator of Belt and Road Aerospace Innovation Alliance (BRAIA), Ms. Zhang Hailan, VP of NPU, on behalf of the co-initiator and Permanent Secretariat of BRAIA and Mr. Rizwan Riaz, leader of NUST, on behalf of BRAIA Regional Development Center-South Asia delivered welcome speeches respectively.

More than 130 delegates from China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Poland, Argentina, Mexico, Tunisia, Egypt, Nigeria and Cameroon’s colleges and universities, enterprises, research institutions and international organizations attended the meeting.

During the meeting, BRAIA new memberships and new regional development center were announced, joint research cooperation projects were approved, and BRAIA annual work report and future work plan were presented.

To further promote substantial joint research cooperation among BRAIA members and generate more fruitful scientific research output, NPU, as BRAIA Permanent Secretariat, initiated BRAIA Joint Research Seed Fund Program this year.

5 international scientific teams consisting of 13 BRAIA member universities from China, Pakistan, Russia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Argentina had applied for projects in the domain of composite materials, microsatellite and aerodynamics. These projects were approved by BRAIA Academic Committee.

Since its establishment in 2017, BRAIA has organized a series of student activities, academic exchanges and managerial meetings, which has improved the international reputation and global impact of both NPU and BRAIA members. BRAIA thus has become an important platform for multilateral international cooperation and exchange.

BRAIA is making continuous efforts on exploring better ways of strengthening international cooperation and benefiting to all members, in spite of the global impact of COVID-19.

FFCS 2020 Pakistan Qualifiers tournament for Karachi and Lahore has taken place and the Islamabad Qualifier is scheduled to be held on 1st Nov 2020. Final Qualifier will be held Online, where 12 teams will compete against each other and top 2 teams will be selected for Asia Series qualifiers and final.

Islamabad, October 26 (DNA).  Final examinations of all post graduate programs offered in spring 2020 semester including ADE, ADC, PGD, BS, B Ed, M Ed, MA and MSc will commence from 2nd November, 2020.

Moreover, the final examinations of BA (Associate Degree) programs have already been commenced on 26th October. According to Controller Examinations, roll number slips have been dispatched to the students and have also been uploaded on the university website as well.

Those students who have not yet received roll number slips through postal services may download these from the website which would be acceptable in the examination halls.  Controller Examination further instructed the students to strictly observe COVID-19 SOPs in the examination halls. Wearing of face masks and social distancing within the examination halls have been made mandatory for both the students as well as exam invigilation staff.
