ISLAMABAD, JUL 31 /DNA/ – CDA’s major operation against encroachment and land mafia in Islamabad, demolish more than 50 illegal constructions.

On the special direction of the Chairman CDA, the staff of CDA Enforcement Directorate with the help of District Administration and Islamabad Police conducted a grand operation against encroachments on Service Road of Islamabad Expressway today despite a weekly holiday. Senior officers of the district administration and CDA were also present during the operation.

At the beginning of the operation, 50 iron sheds, 1 hotel, 1 shop, 3 sand and gravel stalls and 1 illegal swimming pool were demolished with the help of heavy machinery. In addition, fruit stalls around Zia Mosque also demolished.

Later, an operation was also carried out against illegal cattle pens along the drain near Korang River, near Margalla Town Phase-II. In this operation, three illegal fences consisting of 18 rooms were demolished from the boundaries of Korang drain. It may be recalled that due to recent rains, spillways have been opened to maintain the water level in Rawal Dam, which causes flooding in the Korang River on the directions of CDA Management

On the occasion, the CDA chairman said that the anti-encroachment drive would continue as per the directions of the federal government to make Islamabad a city free from encroachments.

ISLAMABAD, JUL 31 /DNA/ – The Prime minister has approved the One Window Ehsaas Policy. “With One Window Ehsaas policy in place, the aim is to deliver services through a single window, a one-stop shop”, stated Dr. Sania Nishtar.

According to an official statement, collectively, the six pillars of One Window policy will increase cohesiveness and coordination across the different programmes offered by different implementing organizations and will improve beneficiary experience.

While physical one window centers, e-portal and app will enable beneficiaries to better access welfare services, cross-organizational data sharing, and a standard beneficiary identification methodology will allow for better visibility, and efficient and transparent targeting. Lastly, removing program overlaps will allow to expand access of services through re-allocation of resources to previously untargeted populations.

Part of the policy, the One Window Physical Ehsaas Centers will be a one-stop-shop to integrate all Ehsaas programs under one roof. The Centers will allow beneficiaries to get information on all Ehsaas benefits and services available to them in one space. The first prototype has recently been opened in Sitara market, Islamabad. One Window Physical Centers of Ehsaas will be opened in all 154 districts.

The second part is the integrated back office digital interface, which will facilitate access of all those working in the Ehsaas ecosystem to appropriate links and resources. Thirdly, Ehsaas One Window Digital has been launched. It is a one-stop-shop that provides links to all Ehsaas-related information and services. The fourth part of Ehsaas One Window is an app which mirrors information on the digital portal but in addition the app, it also marks locations of service sites: Langars, Panagahs and payment sites. The limited version of Ehsaas App is available on Google Playstore. It is being expanded to reflect the entire ecosystem of Ehsaas digital.

The Cognitive API architecture for Ehsaas’ National Socio-economic Registry 2021 is the fifth pillar of ‘One Window Ehsaas’. With the survey, which is building the registry currently 97.7% complete countrywide, Ehsaas is firming up its plans to open data sharing and data access services for all executing agencies under Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Division (PASSD). Data sharing will be done through the Cognitive API Architecture approach.

The integrated database will facilitate adoption of the Ehsaas One Window targeting Policy, which will make targeting predictable, evidence based, transparent and effective in the Ehsaas ecosystem. Going forward, all socio-economic targeting under Ehsaas will use the Proxy Means Test (PMT).=DNA

Pakistan has “welcomed” a letter written by a group of European parliamentarians to the European Commission on the “humanitarian situation” in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK), calling it “yet another demonstration of the global censure” of India’s human rights violations in the valley.

Sixteen European lawmakers had addressed a letter on Friday to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Vice President Josep Borrell, urging the European Union to raise its voice on human rights violations in IoK and take action.

“We believe that the EU should use all its leverage and tools to cooperate with our Indian and Pakistani partners to honour the pledge made to the Kashmiris by the international community and create an environment conducive to the implementation of the United Nations resolutions,” the letter reads. The Foreign Office (FO), in a statement issued on Saturday, welcomed the letter, saying: “This letter is yet another demonstration of the continuing global censure of the ongoing human rights violations and humanitarian crisis in IoK.”

The statement said that despite “India continuously peddling false propaganda in futile attempts to push the sham narrative of so-called ‘normalcy’ in IoK”, criticism of Indian actions had only increased after “egregious violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms” in the wake of India’s “illegal and unilateral” actions to strip IoK of its special autonomy on August 5, 2019.

Article 370 of the Indian constitution had limited the power of the Indian parliament to impose laws in the state. By repealing it, people from the rest of India were given the right to acquire property in IoK and settle there permanently.

The FO statement noted that various international forums had now debated the issue with international media and human rights organisations were “consistently” raising the topic of humanitarian violations in the territory.

“India must realise that it cannot ignore the international community’s continuing calls to end its grave and systematic human rights violations of the Kashmiri people,” the FO added.

“India will have to ultimately give in to global conscience, end its unabated human rights violations in parts of Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation and take steps for peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UNSC resolutions and wishes of the Kashmiri people.”

India has continued to impose strict restrictions on people in the region including on religious festivities. Local media had reported that Indian authorities had barred Muslims from offering prayers in major mosques on Eidul Azha and placed restrictions on ritual sacrifice. Meanwhile, the region’s political leadership including Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and numerous other leaders and activists were in house detention or in jails.
