EU AMBASSADOR, ARMY CHIEF DISCUSS MATTERS OF MUTUAL INTEREST

RAWALPINDI, SEPT 8 (DNA) – Androulla Kaminara, Ambassador of European Union (EU) called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS). During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including current situation of Afghanistan and enhanced bilateral cooperation with European Union (EU) were discussed.

COAS said that Pakistan values its relations with EU countries and we earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests. 

The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan situation, including successful evacuation operations, efforts for regional stability and pledged to play their role for further improvements in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

EXPERTS URGE GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP ON CLIMATE CHANGE

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8 (DNA) – Climate experts and practitioners termed climate change a shared responsibility and urged the need for global partnership on the subject. They were speaking at the ‘Pre-COP26 Dialogue’ organized by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) in collaboration with the Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC), the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), and the Embassy of France here on Wednesday. 
The aim of the dialogue was sharing ideas on climate change in the run up to the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) to be held in Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Climate Chain Mr Malik Amin Aslam, in his keynote address, said that for Pakistan, it is important to give the message at COP26 that despite being affected by climate change in an unjust manner, the country will adopt nature-based approaches to be a part of the solution to climate change.  
Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ms Andleeb Abbas stated that climate was a priority of the Government of Pakistan and a personal focus of Prime Minister Imran Khan. She listed the ten billion tree tsunami, the switch to cleaner fuel, and introduction of an electric vehicle policy as some of the achievements of the government. The British High Commissioner to Pakistan Dr Christian Turner shared that COP26 had four major goals: more national commitments on emission reduction by 2030; further support for vulnerable countries like Pakistan in terms of climate adaptation; climate finance mobilization to the tune of $100 billion annually; and developing partnerships not only between governments but also with the private sector and the civil society. He further stated that Pakistan was in a great position to assume global leadership on climate change owing to its climate vulnerability and its prioritization of climate in national policymaking. 
Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Mr Andreas Ferrarese stated that Pakistan contributed only 1 percent to the worldwide greenhouse gas emission but it was 8th in the world in terms of climate vulnerability. He shared that Italy and Pakistan will be co-hosting a side-initiative of COP26 on mountain climate in which Pakistan will play a central role in addressing challenges related to conservation of the central Karakoram ecosystem, meant to be a model for the world. 
The Charge D’ Affaires of France in Pakistan Mr Yves Manville shared that the French government was supporting Pakistan in providing small grants to civil society organizations for projects on climate change and awarding climate scholarships to Pakistani students. He added that the French government was also assisting the Government of Pakistan directly though the French Development Agency.  Urging the need for collaboration, Chief Executive of CSCCC Aisha Khan said that Climate Diplomacy would be the most important aspect of bilateral and multilateral engagements in future. This will require careful diplomacy and inspired leadership to leverage cooperation at the regional and international level. Quoting an Asian Development Bank (ADB) study, 
President of IRS Ambassador Nadeem Riyaz stated that Pakistan was facing a $3.8 billion annual economic loss due to climate change. He added that COP26 was expected to play a crucial role in paving the way for sustainable recovery and setting ambitious but achievable targets for climate adaptation and mitigation. Executive Director of the SDPI Dr Abid Suleri appreciated the government’s initiatives to tackle climate change, especially its commitment to phase out coal-based power generation. He said that the government had adopted an inclusive approach toward climate. Other speakers at the event included the World Bank Country Director Mr Najy Benhassine, Development Director for Pakistan at the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Ms Annabel Gerry, Director General of Environment and Climate Change at the Ministry of Climate Change Mr Muhammad Irfan Tariq, and Chairman of the Board of Governors of SDPI Mr Shafqat Kakakhel.

NO MORE BOOKINGS FOR SUZUKI CULTUS UNTIL..?

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8: Pak Suzuki is making headlines with intense news. After the discontinuation of Suzuki Swift, the company has suspended the bookings for Suzuki Cultus. Suzuki dealerships across the country are instructed to halt the bookings until further notice.

Next to Alto, Suzuki Cultus is the company’s second-best player in the market. As per PAMA car sales reports, on average, around 15,00 Cultus units are sold every month. Putting the car’s bookings off will definitely affect the company’s profits. That brings us to the question: why did Pak Suzuki make this troublesome decision?

Not Enough Chips for the Cars

The same thing that’s poisoning the sales of BMW, Ford, Tesla, and Toyota has now infected Pak Suzuki. The global semiconductor chip shortage. Like every other company, Pak Suzuki does not have enough semiconductor chips to run its cars, which led the company to halt the bookings for one of its best-selling cars. 

The global semiconductor chip shortage is hammering automakers all over the world, forcing them into shutdowns. Companies around the globe are losing billions of dollars in lost production and sales. 

Overall, the global auto industry will produce 4 million fewer vehicles than planned and lose $110 billion in sales. The biggest names in the international auto market are feeling the heat of this crisis. Unfortunately, the global chip crisis has started to slowly take down our local auto industry.

It’s not the first time we are hearing about a local company halting the car bookings. Hyundai-Nishat, Al-Haj Proton, and others have already done it, and now it’s Pak Suzuki’s turn to face the storm.

Experts say the global chip crisis might last until 2023. All the car production crunches will go away eventually, just not in the near future. Even after the crisis is over, it will take another year or so for the auto industry to recover. 

CHAIRMAN LAUDS EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE OF NAB KARACHI

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8 (DNA) – Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB chaired a meeting to review the performance of NAB-Karachi especially convictions made under Section 10 of National Accountability Ordinance (NAO)-1999 during the tenure of present management of NAB from Oct 2017 to August 2021 at NAB Headquarter. Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi attended the meeting via video link. Honorable Mr. Justice Javed Iqbal, Chairman NAB appreciated the excellent performance of NAB Karachi under the supervision of Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi. During the meeting, Dr. Najaf Quli Mirza, DG NAB-Karachi informed that during the 1stQuarter of 2021, the details of the convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1.       State Vs Syed Muhammad Furqan & Others (Supplementary Reference filed on 03.04.13) (SECP).Accused Syed Muhammad Furqan S/o Syed Nisar Hussain, Rasheed Ahmed S/o Fareed Ahmed, Muhammad Saleem Yousuf S/o Muhammad Yousuf and  Aftab Hassan S/o Shamsul Hassan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 2400 million.

2.       State V/s Shafiq Ahmed Khan & Others. Accused Shafique Ahmed Khan S/o Muhammad Rafique, Barkat Ali Qureshi S/o Muhammad Ayub and Mst Kausar Shah D/o Jurial Shah were convicted by the Accountability Court on 13.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 136.13 million.          

3.       The State V/s Nisar Ahmed Jan Memon (Nisar Morai) & Others. Accused Nisar Ahmed Jan Memon (Nisar Morai) S/o Muhammad Bachal Memon, Sultan Qamar Siddiqui S/o Qamar Ul Hassan Siddqui, Haji Wali Muhammad S/o Haji Yousuf, Imran Afzal S/o Afzal Hussain, Shaukat Hussain S/o Mustafa and Abdul Mannan S/o Sharif-ul-Muzaffar were convicted by the Accountability Court on 20.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 60 million.

Accused Muhammad Suhail Shaikh S/o Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Waqas S/o Abdul Ghani, Muhammad Anwar Baloch S/o Muhammad Ismail Buledi, Irsahd Ali Jessar S/o Muhammad Hussain, Nasrullah Anwar S/o Muhammad Anwar Baloch and Muhammad Arsalan Shaikh S/o Abdul Ghani were convicted by the Accountability Court on 01.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 25 million.

5.       State Vs Imran Ghani (Owner/ Proprietor of M/s Usman Textile Mill) & Others. Accused Imran Ghani S/o Usman Ghani, Syed Naeem Akhtar S/o Syed Tehzeeb Akhtar and Iqbal Shafique S/o Shafiquddin Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 13.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 48.32 million.

6.       State Vs Barkat Ali Junejo & Others (Sindh University Employees Cooperative Housing Society (SUECHS) Jamshoro). 7.       State Vs Matloob Ahmed & Others, (Hyderabad Railway Cooperative Housing Society).Accused Matloob Ahmed Khan S/o Mehmood Khan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.01.2021 with a fine of Rs. 5 million.

8.       The State V/s Wazir Ali & Other. Accused Wali Dad Khoso S/o Khano Khoso and Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi S/o Muhammad Dawood were convicted by the Accountability Court on 16.02.2021 with a fine of Rs. 4 million.

9.       State Vs Noor Muhammad (Owner/ Proprietor of M/s Noor Textile Mills) & Others. Accused Noor Muhammad S/o Muhammad Anwar, Iqbal Shafique S/o Shafiquddin Khan and Syed Naeem Akhtar S/o Syed Tehzeeb Akhtar were convicted by the Accountability Court on 12.03.2021 with a fine of Rs. 24.50 million.

10.    State Vs Fareed Ahmed Yousfani & Others, (Lines Area Redevelopment Project).Accused Fareed Ahmed Yousufani, Tahir Jameel Durrani, Fareed Nasim S/o Nasimuddin, Atta Abbas Zaidi S/o Syed Kaleem, Waseem Iqbal S/o Sh. Nooruddin and Shahid Umer S/o Ch. Umerdin was convicted by the Accountability Court on 08.04.2021 with a fine of Rs. 30 million.

DG NAB-Karachi also informed the meeting that during the year 2020, due to the efforts of NAB-Karachi, the details of the convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1.       State VS Rizwan Ahmed Khan & Others. Accused Rizwan Ahmed Khan S/o Abdul Rauf Khan and Nayyer Nadeem Khan S/o Abdul Rauf Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.02.2020 with a fine of Rs. 19.98 million.

2.       State Vs Muhammad Jameel & Others. Accused Muhammad Jameel S/o Abul Hassan, Muhammad Yameen S/o Muhammad Khauwaja, Abdul Ghaffar S/o Haji Raheem Bux, Muhammad Akram S/o Muhammad Sadiq, Amanullah S/o Muhammad Ibrahim and Abrar Ahmed S/o Ahmed Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 09.07.2020 with a fine of Rs. 3 million.

3.       State Vs Anwar Ali S/o Rajab Ali Rind.Accused Anwar Ali S/o Rajab Ali Rind was convicted by the Accountability Court on 29.09.2020 with a fine of Rs. 0.60 million.

4.       The State V/s Jalil Ahmed Lashari & Others.Accused Jalil Ahmed Lashari S/o Haji Ahmed, Mst Kamla w/o Bherumal Dhanani, Kewal Ram S/o Vankidas and Abdul Azeem Khan S/o Asmatyar Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 09.09.2020.

5.       The State V/s Aftab Ahmed Memon & Others. Accused Muhamamd Salik Nukrich S/o Qazi Ahmed, Abdul Aziz S/o Alam Khan, Shahid Raza Shah S/o Syed Israr Hussain Shah, Wahid Bux S/o Ilyas Jokhio, Zaman S/o Muhammad Azim Jokhio, Lal Muhammad S/o Haji Adam Jokhio and Muhammad Fazal Hussain S/o Illyas Jokhio were convicted by the Accountability Court on 26.10.2020 with a fine of Rs. 35 million.

6.       The State V/s Ghulam Abbas Soomro & Others.Accused Wajid Ali Jatoi S/o Hakeem Muhammad Gulab was convicted by the Accountability Court on 10.11.2020 with a fine of Rs. 30 million.

7.       State Vs Muhammad Nawaz Ansari. Accused Qamaruddin, Ali Muhammad Unar and Abdul Khaliq were convicted by the Accountability Court on 11.11.2020 with a fine of Rs. 3 million.

DG NAB-Karachi also informed the meeting that during the year 2019, due to the efforts of NAB-Karachi 57 persons were convicted by different Accountability Courts under section 10 of NAO-1999. The details of the 57 convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1.       State Vs Shaikh Muhammad Asghar & Others. Accused Shaikh Muhammad Asghar S/o Muhammad Akbar and Nazir Ahmed Touni S/o Abdul Majeed were convicted by the Accountability Court on 16.01.2019 with a fine of Rs. 25 million.

2.       The State V/s Muhammad Rafi & Others, (FIR No. 1/2009) Accused Muhammad Rafi S/o Muhammad Shafi and Faisal S/o Muhammad Usman were convicted by the Accountability Court on 23.01.2019.

3.       State Vs Aziz-ur-Rehman & Others. Accused Muhammad Ismail Abro S/o Allah Dino Abro, Rana Akhtar Ali S/o Rana Khairuddin, Kamran Ali S/o Naimat Ali, Qurban Ali S/o Nawab Ali and Chetan S/o Bekho were convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.01.2019 with a fine of Rs. 2.50 million.

4.       The State V/s Muhammad Arshad Latif &Others. Accused Mohammad Arshad Latif S/o Mirza Abdul Latif and Qamar Mahmood Khan S/o Allah Ditta were convicted by the Accountability Court on 26.02.2019 with a fine of Rs. 139.98 million.

5.       State Vs Atif Iqbal & Others, (Owner of M/s Siddiqui Roller Flour Mill, Mirpurkhas). Accused Iqbal Ahmed Siddiqui S/o Haji Abdul Rahim, Arif Iqbal S/o Iqbal Ahmed Siddiqui, Atif Iqbal S/o Iqbal Ahmed Siddiqui and Sarang Ram S/o Punjo Mal were convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.02.2019 with a fine of Rs. 66.16 million.

6.       State Vs Manzar Abbass S/o Agha Adil Abbass, Chairman, Project Director, Director Technical & Drawing and Disbursing Officer, Benazir Housing Cell & Others (District Khairpur). Accused Manzar Abbass S/o Agha Adil Abbass, Agha Muhammad Zarar S/o Noor Nabi, Ashiq Ali Shaikh S/o Mushtaq Ali, Chaudhary Muhamamd Ashraf S/o Ghulam Akbar, Agha Ghulam Mohi-uddin S/o Khudadad Khan and Ishrat Ahmed S/o Niaz Ahmed were convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.02.2019 with a fine of Rs. 90 million.

7.       State Vs Mansoor Ahmed. Accused Mansoor Ahmed S/o Noor Ahmed was convicted by the Accountability Court on 27.02.2019 with a fine of Rs. 13.23 million.

8.       The State V/s Karam Din Panhyar & Others. Accused Karamuddin Panhyar s/o Koral Khan Panhyar, Gada Hussain Abro S/o Nawab Khan, Ghulam Rasool S/o Ghulam Qadir and Jahangir Khan Marri S/o Haji Hadi Bux Marri were convicted by the Accountability Court on 28.02.2019 with a fine of Rs. 0.30 million.

9.       The State V/s Muhammad Sajjan Mallah S/o Muhammad Hashim Mallah, Ex-Director of Schools, Karachi R/o House No. C-5, Samanabad, Qasimabad, Hyderabad. Accused Muhammad Sajjan Mallah S/o Muhammad Hashim Mallah was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.03.2019 with a fine of Rs. 48.55 million.

10.    The State V/s Mehboob Ali Zardari & Others.Accused Mehboob Ali Zardari S/o Mola Bux, Fayyaz Hussain Channa S/o Chatal Channa and Imtiaz Ali S/o Pyaro were convicted by the Accountability Court on 24.04.2019 with a fine of Rs. 110.66 million.

11.    The State V/s Manzoor Ahmed Rufi &Others. Manzoor Ahmed Rufi S/o Nazir Hussain and Rauf Ahmed Rufi S/o Nazir Hussain were convicted by the Accountability Court on 29.05.2019.

12.    State Vs Zubair Noor Muhammad & Others, (M/s Moosa Noor Muhamad, Shahzada & Company (Pvt.) Ltd).Accused Zubair Noor Muhammad S/o Haji Noor Muhammad and Irfan Moosa S/o Haji Moosa were convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.05.2019 with a fine of Rs. 241.26 million.

13.    State Vs Kamran Nabi Ahmed & Others.Accused Kamran Nabi Ahmed S/o Nabi Ahmed, Muhammad Jaffar Khan S/o Sher Muhammad Khan, Abdul Aleem Khan S/o Abdul Jabbar Khan, Umer Abul Hassan S/o Abdul Hassan and Jallat Khan S/o Jo Muhammad were convicted by the Accountability Court on 20.08.2019 with a fine of Rs. 192.10 million.

14.    The State V/s Asadullah Solangi & Others. Accused Asadullah Solangi S/o Abdul Hameed Solangi, Sohail Adeeb Bachani S/o Fazal Ahmed, Walidad Khan Khoso S/o Lakhano Khan Khoso, Mehmood Abbas S/o Late Muhammad Abbas and Muhammad Mubeen S/o Haji Muhammad Sidiqui were convicted on 29.08.2019 with a fine of Rs. 10 million.

15.    State Vs Abdul Wahab Abbassi, Ex- DOE (M) Karachi, now Director Schools Education Khi.Accused Abdul Wahab Abbassi S/o Mazhar Uddin Abbassi was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.09.2019 with a fine of Rs. 12.74 million.

16.    State Vs Muhammad Ibrahim Laghari & Others.Accused Muhammad Hanif Janwari S/o Manzoor Ali Janwari was convicted by the Accountability Court on 22.10.2019 with a fine of Rs. 4.70 million.

17.    State Vs Asif Haroon Memon, Hyderabad Development Authority Employees Cooperative Housing Society Ltd.Accused Asif Haroon Memon S/o Haji Muhamamd Haroon Memon was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.10.2019 with a fine of Rs. 17.54 million.

18.    State Vs Sohail Adeeb Bachani & Others, (Right Bank Outfall Drain (RBOD) Project. Accused Allah Dino Mirbahar S/o Khuda Bux, Muslim Khan S/o Bakhtul Rehman, Punhoon S/o Muhammad Dawood, Muhammad Sadiq S/o Allah Warayo, Nabi Bux S/o Khair Muhammad Vighio and Abdul Qayyum S/o Muhammad Ramzan Massan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 26.11.2019 with a fine of Rs. 54.68 million.

19.    The State V/s Muhammad Shahid & Others.Accused Muhammad Shahid S/o Muhammad Iqbal, Muhammad Sabir S/o Muhammad Iqbal, Shahid Shamim S/o Fazal Hussain Shamim and Shamim Akhtar S/o Naushad Ali Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 02.12.2019 with a fine of Rs. 42.23 million.

20.    The State V/s Muhammad Yousaf Khanzada & Others. Accused Muhammad Yousuf Khanzada S/o Amin Khan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 19.12.2019 with a fine of Rs. 10 million.

DG NAB-Karachi also informed the meeting that during the year 2018, details of the convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1.       The State V/s Hussain Bux. Accused Hussain Bux S/o Karim Buxwas convicted by the Accountability Court on 06.01.2018 with a fine of Rs. 282.76 million.

2.       The State Vs Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Sub-Accountant, DAO, Umerkot & Others. Accused Syed Manzoor Ahmed Shah S/o Ibrahim Shah, Ashfaque Ahmed Sheikh S/o Gul Hassan Shaikh, Gul Muhammad S/o Muhammad Hussain Palejo and Muhammad Asim Khan S/o Muhammad Ishaque Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.01.2018 with a fine of Rs. 84.94 million.

3.       The State Vs Ashfaque Ahmed S/o Gul Hassan, Ex- ADAO, DAO, Umerkot & Others. Accused Ahfaque Ahmed Shaikh S/o Gul Hassan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.01.2018 with a fine of Rs. 8.33million.

4.       The State Vs Ashfaq Ahmed Sheikh, Ex-ADAO, DAO Umerkot &Others. Accused Ashfaq Ahmed Sheikh S/o Gul Hassan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.01.2018 with a fine of Rs. 5.08 million.

5.       The State Vs Muhamamd Anwar S/o Usman Jakhro. Accused Muhammad Anwar S/o Usman Jakhro was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.01.2018 with a fine of Rs. 23.55 million.

6.       The State Vs Syed Salahuddin, Ex- Operation Manager, NBP, Shaheed-e-Millat Br. Kchi & Others. Syed Salahuddin S/o Nizamuddin was convicted by the Accountability Court on 14.02.2018 with a fine of Rs. 78.40 million.

7.       The State Vs Syed Sohail Hassan & Others.Accused Syed Sohail Hassan S/o Syed Ali Hassan and Ibrahim Noor S/o Noor Muhammad were convicted by the Accountability Court on 22.02.2018 with a fine of Rs. 127.85 million.

8.       The State Vs Mumtaz Ali Memon & Others. Accused Altaf Ahmed S/o Gul Hassan Shaikh was convicted by the Accountability Court on 28.02.2018 with a fine of Rs. 1.08 million.

9.       The State Vs Salahuddin Mughal & Others.Accused Salahuddin Mughal S/o Haji Deen Muhammad, Syed Muhammad Irfan S/o Syed Maqsood Hussain, Madad Ali Shaikh S/o Dil Murad, S. M. 12.    The State Vs Muhammad Akhtar Pathan. Accused Muhammad Akhtar Pathan S/o Muhammad Yousaf Pathan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.04.2018 with a fine of Rs. 4.90 million.

13.    The State Vs Haroon Panjwani & Others. Accused Haroon Panjwani S/o Suleman, Aleemuddin S/o Zia Uddin and Muhammad Asad Abbasi S/o Muhammad Khurshid Abbasi were convicted by the Accountability Court on 23.05.2018 with a fine of Rs. 205.14 million.

14.    The State Vs Sarwar Alam & Others.Accused Sheikh Ejaz Ahmed S/o Sheikh Baboo (Late) and Azeem Shahab S/o Shahbuddin were convicted by the Accountability Court on 26.05.2018 with a fine of Rs. 4.82 million.

15.    State Vs Hina Jabeen & Others, (FIR No.02/2003 dated 23.10.2003). Hina Jabeen D/o Ali Mobid and Ali Mobid Kayani S/o Mehboob-ur-Rehman were convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.07.2018 with a fine of Rs. 5.39 million.

16.    The State V/s Tanveer Ahmed & Others.Accused Tanveer Ahmed Tahir S/o Zafaryab Tahir was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.07.2018 with a fine of Rs. 25 million.

17.    The State V/s Nizamuddin Shahani & Others. Accused Nizamuddin Shahani S/o Haji Kamaluddin and Muhammad Aslam Solangi were convicted by the Accountability Court on 15.08.2018 with a fine of Rs. 42.64 million.

18.    The State V/s Karam Din Panhyar & Others. Accused Karam Din Panhyar was convicted by the Accountability Court on 30.08.2018 with a fine of Rs. 0.50 million.

19.    State Vs Tariq Saleem Akbar (Bogus Dy. Dir of NAB).Accused Tariq Saleem Akbar S/o Muhammad Akbar Khan was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.08.2018 with a fine of Rs. 0.50 million.

21.    The State V/s Muhammad Younus Dahri & Others.Accused Mohammad Younis Dahiri, S/o Mehmood Khan Dahiri, Barkat Ali Talpur S/o Mir Murad Talpur, Amin Nazir Maqbool S/o Mohammad Khan, Allah Bachayo Chandio S/o Nasir Khan and Ahmed Zohair Madani S/o Syed Mahboob Madani were convicted by the Accountability Court on 03.09.2018 with a fine of Rs. 500 million.

22.    State Vs Fawad Ahmed Batra & Others.Accused Fawad Ahmed Batra S/o Haji Muhammad Yousuf Batra, Shah Habib Khan S/o Gul Ameer Khan and Syed Maqsood Ahmed S/o Syed Rafi Ahmed were convicted by the Accountability Court on 29.09.2018 with a fine of Rs. 22.21 million.

23.    State Vs Asadullah Solangi & Others.Accused Asadullah Solangi S/o Abdul Hameed Solangi, Ali Akbar S/o Muhammad Bux Parhiar, Abdul Jabbar Soomro S/o Abdul Qadir, Mehmood Rangoon Wala S/o Ahmed Rangoon Wala, Mst. Sabiha W/o Hafeezullah Qureshi and Javed Akhtar Qureshi S/o Ghulam Qadir Qureshi were convicted by the Accountability Court on 29.09.2018 with a fine of Rs. 1.80 million.

24.    State Vs Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf S/o Muhammad Ilyas &Others, (Eden Builders and Developer).Accused Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf S/o Muhammad Ilyas and Syed Muzaffar Ali S/o Syed Fakhar Ali were convicted by the Accountability Court on 29.09.2018 with a fine of Rs. 2 million.

25.    State Vs Syed Altaf Hussain, Ex- Teller, United Bank Limited Hamid Square Branch, Karachi.Accused Syed Altaf Hussain S/o Syed Muhammad Ismail was convicted by the Accountability Court on 28.11.2018 with a fine of Rs. 13 million.

26.    State Vs Ayaz Khan Niazi & Others, FIR No. 21/2010 & Old Case No. 43/2010, dated 22.11.10 (Transferred from Special Judge Anti Corruption (C-II) Kci) (NICL)PAC Para No. 2.1.4.1.Accused Muhammad Ayaz Khan Niazi S/o Abdul Razzak Niazi, Syed Hur Riahi Gardezi S/o S. Abbas Hussain Gardezi, Amin Qasim Dada S/o Haji Qasim Dada, Muhammad Zahoor S/o Abdul Shakoor, Zahid Hussain S/o Yousuf Hussain and Amir Hussain S/o Zahid Hussain were convicted by the Accountability Court on 8.12.2018.

27.    State Vs Masood Alam & Others.Accused Masood Alam Niazi S/o Rasheed Ahmed Niazi and Ziaullah Khan Warsi S/o Shafiullah Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 11.10.2018 with a fine of Rs. 12.40 million.

28.    The State V/s Muhammad Asif & Others. Accused Muhammad Asif S/o Abdul Jabbar, Mumtaz Ali Nizamani S/o Lal Dino Nizamani and Muhammad Adil Ashraf S/o Muhammad Ashraf were convicted by the Accountability Court on 14.12.2018 with a fine of Rs. 118.70 million.

29.    State V/s Muhammad Asif Arshad & Others. Accused Muhammad Asif Arshad S/o Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Adil Ashraf S/o Muhammad Ashraf and Mumtaz Ali Nizamani S/o Lal Dino Nizamani were convicted by the Accountability Court on 14.12.2018 with a fine of Rs. 85.37 million.

Similarly in the period of year 2017 from 10th October to 31 December 2017, details of the convicted persons under section 10 of NAO-1999 are as under:

1.       State Vs Junaid Asad Khan &Others.Accused Junaid Asad Khan S/o Asad Abbas Khan and Asad Abbas Khan S/o Muhammad Ramzan Khan were convicted by the Accountability Court on 23.10.2017 with a fine of Rs. 40 million.

2.       State Vs Qazi Muhammad Shamim & Others. Accused Qazi Muhammad Shamim S/o Zainuddin and Rizwan Ahmed Jilani S/o Shaikh Bashir Ahmed Jilani were convicted by the Accountability Court on 25.10.2017 with a fine of Rs. 3 million.

3.       State Vs Ali Bux Memon & Others. Accused Ali Bux Memon S/o Abdul Ghani Memon, Meer Murtaza S/o Abdul Majeed Khushk, Ghulam Mujataba S/o Abdul Majeed Khaushk and Rafiq Ahmed S/o Noor Muhammad Khushk were convicted by the Accountability Court on 26.10.2017 with a fine of Rs. 24.35 million.

4.       State Vs Mukkaram Alam Khan & Others. Accused Mukkaram Alam Khan S/o Muhammad Maqbool Alam was convicted by the Accountability Court on 31.10.2017.

5.       State Vs Muhammad Sohail Malim & Others. Accused Muhammad Sohail Malim S/o Nooruddin Malimwas convicted by the Accountability Court on 07.12.2017 with a fine of Rs. 12.75 million.

6.       State Vs Muhammad Ilyas & Others, (Black Stone Developers Karachi).Accused Khadim Hussain Kutrio S/o Buxail Khan Kutrio and Mushtaq Ali S/o Abdul Qadir Solangi were convicted by the Accountability Court on 14.12.2017.

7.       State Vs Rahim Bux Soomro, Ex- DO (Roads) T. M. Khan. Accused Rahim Bux Soomro S/o Muhammad Siddique Soomro was convicted by the Accountability Court on 14.12.2017 with a fine of Rs. 4.75 million.

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8 (DNA) – World Physical Therapy Day is celebrated every year on the 8th of September. The day is an opportunity for physical therapists to create awareness about the fundamental contribution therapist makes in keeping people pain free, mobile and independent. The focus for this year’s World PT Day is rehabilitation and Long COVID and the role of physiotherapists in the treatment and management of people affected by Long COVID.

Shifa International Hospital’s Rehabilitation Department carried out multiple activities focusing on creating awareness regarding the role of physical therapy in the COVID-19 rehabilitation process.

Mr. Taimoor Shah, Chief Operating Officer, SIH stated with regard to the Physical therapy day, physiotherapy is an established profession globally and the role physical therapists are playing during this pandemic in the management of patients admitted to hospital with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 is commendable.

Mr. Kashif Khan, Associate General Manager Rehabilitation Department, SIH stated, physical therapists aim to improve physical recovery following acute illness. He shared, the data suggest that physiotherapy is beneficial for improved respiratory mechanism and physical rehabilitation in the long COVID.

Ms. Faiza Badar, Manager Rehabilitation Department, SIH while highlighting the importance of continuation of care after discharge from hospital, talked about the integration of technology-based healthcare solutions, how patients can access experienced & qualified physical therapists and other healthcare services at their doorstep utilizing home health services.=DNA

HASHOO GROUP, CTTI LAUNCH PROFESSIONAL TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT SCHOOL

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 8 (DNA) – Hashoo Group has launched a professional tourism and hospitality management school in partnership with Construction Technology and Training Institute (CTTI) campus in Islamabad, Pakistan. Sheffield Hallam University & Business School (SHU) has provided the curriculum to Hashoo School of Hospitality Management (HSHM) and this will be the first time that foreign instructors will be teaching Hospitality and Tourism Management to Pakistani students.

Following a two-year academic journey at the CTTI campus in Islamabad, qualifying students of HSHM will have the opportunity to complete an additional third year at the Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. This will enable them to graduate with an internationally recognised BSc Honours degree. Along with this leadership programme, HSHM is also offering short courses in Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain fundamentals. Islamabad : Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security, Dr Moeed Yusuf has said that the world would pay a heavy price if it continued to ignore India’s destabilizing policies, where its consequences are to go well beyond the region.

In a Tweet, he slammed the so-called Indian media orchestrating false news and disinformation against Pakistan.

Dr Moeed said it is not a surprise that Modi’s fascist regime’s fake news industry has been caught peddling lies yet again.

He also shared two screenshots in his tweet comprising British UK Defence Journal and BBC news debunking the Indian news channel Times Now that broadcast a Wales-based video clip of a US F-15 aircraft as a full-fledged Pakistani invasion of Afghanistan.

The Advisor on National Security said the fake news industry, set up and patronized by the Indian government, is one critical reason for the world being duped into blaming Pakistan rather than looking at internal failures in Afghanistan and India’s role in perpetrating terrorism in Pakistan.

PM to launch digitalized cadastral map of Islamabad

Islamabad : Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch the cadastral map of Islamabad today to curb land record tampering, ensure monitoring of construction through imagery and provide information about land ownership on a single click.

The cadastral mapping project has been conceived and inspired by vision of the Prime Minister to modernize the old “Patwar system” into modernized digital online system.

The phase-I comprises of digitization of revenue record of three major cities including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad and state land data of the country.

Survey of Pakistan has completed Islamabad Capital Territory digitalization by using Geographical Information System.

This will also help overseas Pakistani to verify online information before purchase of land in Islamabad.

The new system would also help identify the illicit hinging of state land, encroachment at nullah and forests.
