Romania and Pakistan celebrate friendship through culture and cuisine

Ambassador Dan Stoenescu Hosts Vibrant Romanian Independence Day Reception

ISLAMABAD: To celebrate the Independence Day of Romania and to showcase the rich culture and traditions of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan Dr. Dan Stoenescu hosted a grand and colourful reception in Islamabad. The event was co-hosted by the Honorary Consul General of Romania in Peshawar, Masood Qazi, and attracted diplomats, government officials, members of the business community, civil society representatives and cultural enthusiasts.

The reception presented a vibrant and festive look as guests arrived dressed in traditional attire reflecting both Romanian and Pakistani cultures. The gathering became a beautiful blend of Eastern and European traditions, with many foreign diplomats also wearing shalwar qameez, symbolizing cultural harmony and friendship between the two nations.

Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Dr. Dan Stoenescu warmly welcomed the distinguished guests and highlighted the importance of celebrating cultural diversity and people-to-people connections. He said relations between Romania and Pakistan had grown from cordial to excellent over the years and were now touching new horizons in different sectors, including education, trade, culture and diplomacy.

The ambassador expressed optimism that bilateral relations would further strengthen in the coming years through enhanced cooperation and increased exchanges between the two friendly countries. He appreciated the contribution of the Pakistani community as well as Romanian nationals working to promote mutual understanding and friendship.

Masood Qazi, Honorary Consul General of Romania in Peshawar, also addressed the audience and welcomed the guests to the special celebration. He emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy in bringing nations closer and said events of this nature help strengthen ties between the people of Romania and Pakistan. He particularly highlighted the cultural richness and hospitality of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which was prominently featured during the evening.

Guests thoroughly enjoyed the traditional Peshawari cuisine served at the reception. The menu included famous dishes such as namkeen gosht, lamb specialties, Peshawari chicken karahi, Kabuli pulao and several other local delicacies that reflected the culinary heritage of the province.

The evening became even more lively with colourful traditional dance performances that added charm and excitement to the celebration. Romanian nationals also presented cultural dances, which were warmly appreciated by the audience. The fusion of Romanian and Pakistani music, food and traditional performances created a memorable atmosphere and reflected the growing friendship between the two countries.
