French Parliament takes up Kashmir issue for first time

PARIS (DNA) – French Parliament has taken up the escalating conflict of occupied Kashmir for the first time during a conference “Kashmir – the oldest conflict of the World”.According to details, the issue was highlighted by President of Pakistan-France Friendship Group in the French National Assembly Mr. Jean Bernard Sempastous.The conference was attended by the members of the French parliament, scholars, researchers, human rights activists and French and Pakistani media in large numbers.

Jean Bernard Sempastous said, “The conflict in Kashmir between Pakistan and India was 70 years old and had caused thousands of deaths. There was little knowledge about the Kashmir conflict in France. After a new historical turning point in August, the reflection on this old international conflict deserved France’s full attention.”

He demanded the international community to play role for an early resolution of the Kashmir dispute and urged both Pakistan and India to exercise maximum restraint in this regard.

Meanwhile, Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin-ul-Haque thanked the French National Assembly for holding the debate on Kashmir.
