ISLAMABAD (DNA) – National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA) on Saturday has started process of scrutiny of online applications filed by foreign tourists for Pakistan visa. The authority said that 2,249 people have applied for the visa so far, adding that 739 applications had been received during a single week starting from May 6.

It is to be mentioned here that NADRA had developed an e-visa service similar to the systems in the US and UK to issue visas to the potential travelers to Pakistan.

The then information minister, Fawad Ch had said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has provided online visa facility to residents of over 175 countries to boost tourism.

Interior ministry had also issued a notification enforcing a new visa policy for the nationals of 48 countries, who will be able to avail visa-on-arrival facility.

Under the policy, visa requirements were relaxed for 48 countries, including Brazil, Germany, Iran, Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, China, Sri Lanka, Australia, and Denmark.

However, India, the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), and Afghanistan were not included in the list, which implies that citizens from these countries will not be facilitated under the policy.
