Politicians mourn as Qamar Zaman Kaira’s son laid to rest

LALA MUSA (DNA) – The funeral prayers of the teenage son of senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Qamar Zaman Kaira, Usama – who lost his life in a tragic road accident yesterday – were held in Lalamusa.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari, former premier Yousaf Raza Gillani, former interior minister Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, PTI MPA Samsam Bukhari, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, PPP MNA Khursheed Shah and many other leaders among senior politicians attended funeral prayers of Kaira’s son.

As soon as the news broke of the tragic accident, several politicians rushed to Kaira’s home and expressed deep sorrow over his death. They, besides city dwellers, prayed that the deceased’s soul rests in peace.

Importantly, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has suspended all party activities for Saturday.

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has also expressed deep sorrow over his death and sympathised with his parents. He also offered his condolences to the family and prayed that they bear the loss with fortitude.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari said that the “loss of a young child is unbearable” and prayed for the deceased. He assured that the “Bhutto family and the PPP stands by the Kaira family in this hour of grief”.

Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari expressed deep sympathy with the family and said: “What a terrible tragedy for any parent to bear. May Allah give Kaira and his family the strength to bear this massive loss.”

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, in a statement, offered his condolences to Kaira and his family, and “expressed his heartfelt grief on sad demise of Osama Kaira”.

“May Allah give strength to bereaved parents and family to bear this irreparable loss,” he said in a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to initial reports, the accident occurred when his car ploughed into a tree. His friend, Hamza Butt, was also travelling with Usama in the car. They were rushed to a hospital where Usama succumbed to his severe injuries.

The deceased was a student in Government College Lahore.
