Ilham Aliyev wins Azerbaijan Presidential election with majority

As per the preliminary results Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev gained 84,73 percent of votes. In general about 72.31 percent of voters participated in the election. The 16 member delegation of Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan  were in Azerbaijan to observe the elections.

BAKU, OCT 10 (DNA) -The general Presidential elections have been held in Azerbaijan on 09 October, 2013. There were 10 candidates in total from 9 political parties as well as one independent candidate contested elections.The voting has been monitored by approximately 1,400 international observers representing the OSCE, OSCE, ODIHR, the Council of Europe, PACE, European Parliament, European Union, CIS, CIS PA, TurkPA, the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States and other international organizations, as well as representatives from nearly 60 countries.

The 16 member delegation of Senate and National Assembly of Pakistan led by senator Mushahid Hussain were in Azerbaijan to observe the elections.

Chiefs and members of central electoral commissions of Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Turkey, and Latvia were also in Azerbaijan to observe the election.

About 52,000 local observers, including representatives of political parties, NGOs and independent observers monitored the voting process. The webcams installed at 1,000 polling stations enabled the whole world to watch elections.

The election was covered by nearly 100 foreign mass media outlets.

As per the preliminary results of the presidential elections Mr. Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev gained 84,73 percent of votes. In general about 72.31 percent of voters participated in the election.

The final decision on the election will be made by the Constitutional court.

As per the Chairman of the Central Election Commission during the election day there were no official complaints on the election process registered and the elections were completely fair and transparent.
