Pakistan, Afghanistan reaffirm commitment to mutually beneficial cooperation

Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, LANDIKOTAL: Pakistan and Afghanistan have reaffirmed their commitment to once again upgrade and strengthen diplomatic engagement and together harness their full potential for the mutual benefit of the people of both countries, The News reported on Sunday.

“Met [Afghan] Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul, today. Reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continued engagement & mutually beneficial ties with Afghanistan,” said Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan in a post on X.

“Both sides agreed to enhance high-level engagements and dialogue to further consolidate bilateral relations,” he added.

Sadiq’s visit to Kabul — in light of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar’s directives as per the Foreign Office — comes on the heels of a US delegation that just left Afghanistan, seeing Zalmay Khalilzad, former US Special Representative for Afghanistan, making the first official contact by the Trump administration.

The envoy’s visit also coincides with the Torkham border re-opening after nearly a month, with the pedestrian walkway opening on Saturday.

“In my meeting with Acting Commerce Minister of Afghanistan Nooruddin Azizi in Kabul, today we discussed bilateral trade and economic relations as well as cooperation in areas of transit and connectivity.

“I underlined Pakistan’s commitment to mutually beneficial ties with Afghanistan. The two sides agreed to harness the full potential of regional trade and connectivity for the mutual benefit of both countries,” Sadiq added.

The envoy last visited Kabul on December 24, 2024, at the time when Pakistan carried out a drone strike against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) camps inside Afghanistan as retaliation for terrorist attacks on Waziristan. Sadiq was caught unaware but completed his diplomatic schedule.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Sadiq-Muttaqi meeting, Kabul’s Foreign Office said that it was “centred on strengthening bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan, upgrading diplomatic engagement, enhancing trade and transit cooperation, and addressing issues concerning the people of both nations”.

While the issue of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express was bound to come up during the Sadiq-Muttaqi talks, no mention was made publicly. Kabul had denied that it had any hand in the terrorist attack when Pakistan said that calls made during the attack on Jaffar Express were traced back to Balochistan.

“Afghanistan has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering positive relations with Pakistan, FM Muttaqi stressed leveraging the commonalities between two nations in political, economic, trade and transit disciplines,” the Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan said.

It pointed to issues pertinent to trade and transit between the two countries and added that FM Muttaqi pointed to trade and transit exchanges which could be further enhanced through greater government coordination, facilitating people-to-people movement, and resolving the existing challenges.

Conveying the greetings and best wishes of Pakistan’s foreign minister, Ambassador Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening positive relations with Afghanistan and acknowledged Afghanistan’s current security situation as advantageous for Pakistan and the broader region.

The ambassador highlighted that the purpose of his visit is, while addressing the mutual challenges, to enhance political, economic, trade, and transit cooperation between the two nations, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Muttaqi also stressed the need for the gradual and dignified return of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan while Ambassador Sadiq pledged that Pakistan would take further steps to facilitate visas and trade for the Afghan people. He also stated that practical measures would be taken to address challenges related to trade and transit with Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the Khorasan Diary, a “non-partisan, journalists-run platform” said in a post on X: “Pakistan and Afghanistan are restructuring their diplomatic ties on multiple fronts, with high-level engagements planned to address key bilateral issues, official sources confirmed. The move comes as both nations seek to strengthen cooperation on trade, transit, border management and the refugee situation”.

It further added that according to officials, a full-year schedule of high-level delegation visits is being finalised, including a planned visit by the Pakistani foreign minister to Kabul in the coming months.

“We do not want to leave any communication gap between both countries. Ministers from both sides will visit each other regularly, and there is also a schedule for online meetings,” an official told the Khorasan Diary.

Additionally, efforts are underway to reschedule the long-pending meeting of the Joint Coordination Commission (JCC), which last convened on January 4, 2024. The resumption of JCC meetings is seen as a crucial step toward institutionalising bilateral cooperation, it said.

Border issue
The Torkham border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan was reopened for travellers holding valid passports and visas after remaining closed for 29 days, officials said on Saturday.

An additional director of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) told the publication that the passenger-checking system had been repaired, allowing limited cross-border movement. He said the reopening had provided much-needed relief to thousands of stranded passengers on both sides of the border.

He said Afghan passengers holding Proof of Registration cards and Afghan Citizen Cards were not allowed to cross the border on Saturday.

He said the Individual Voluntary Arrangement System (IVAS), which was managed by the security forces, was also damaged during the recent gunfire from the Afghan side. He added that the restoration of the IVAS system was necessary for allowing travellers holding Proof of Registration cards, Afghan Citizen Cards and Afghan Tazkira to cross the border.

The official said the number of travellers could be reduced to a few hundred due to the faulty IVAS system. According to him, it could take up to a week to repair the system and fully resume operations for these categories of travellers.

The border closure, which started on February 21, caused major disruptions for thousands of passengers, transporters and traders.

With the resumption of controlled movement, Pakistani officials hope to gradually return to normal cross-border operations in the coming days. Officials said that on normal days, around 4,000 people cross the Torkham border daily with their valid travel documents.

The FIA additional director said that truckers and their crew members were excluded from it. However, he added, due to the ongoing repair work, Ramadan and other logistical hurdles, fewer than 3,000 passengers would be able to cross on the first day after reopening.

The 29-day closure resulted in significant economic losses, particularly for traders and transporters. Hundreds of trucks loaded with perishable goods, including fresh fruits and vegetables, were left stranded on both sides, leading to financial setbacks for exporters. Many businesses in Landikotal and other border areas also suffered due to the prolonged halt in trade activities.

Local labourers and daily wage workers, who rely on cross-border trade for their livelihoods, faced severe hardships during the closure. The suspension of commercial activities affected not only traders but also transporters, Customs agents and small business owners operating in the border region.

Despite the reopening, officials remained cautious about the situation. The FIA and other authorities closely monitor the movement of travellers to ensure security and smooth processing at the border. Any further disruptions could lead to additional delays in the full resumption of travel and trade.

Pakistani officials have been in contact with their Afghan counterparts to address security concerns and prevent similar incidents in the future. Authorities on both sides were working to ensure that cross-border movement continued without further interruption.

With the gradual restoration of operations, traders, travellers and businesses in the region hope for stability and normalcy. However, the situation remains uncertain until the IVAS system is fully repaired and the border crossing is reopened for all categories of travellers.

UNITED NATIONS, Mar 23 (DNA): Pakistan’s outgoing Ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, gave a largely attended farewell reception at his official residence.

Heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the United Nations, senior UN officials, prominent citizens and senior journalists attended the event.

Ambassador Akram, a well known figure at the UN, will be replaced by Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad as permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN on April 1.

On Friday, the UN Security Council President, Christina Markus Lassen of Denmark, paid high tributes to Ambassador Akram for his “cooperation and dedication” to the work of the Council and the United Nations.

Before giving him the floor to make his last statement to the 15-member Council,  Ambassador Lassen, the Council president, said, “Allow me to pay tribute to our dear colleague, Ambassador Munir Akram, on the completion of his tenure as permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations.”

She added, “I know I speak for all our colleagues when I say we thank you for your cooperation and your dedication to the work of the Security Council and the United Nations.

“We’ll all miss your wisdom, your wit and your warmth, so we wish you the very best in your future endeavors…”

On March 11, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also praised Ambassador Munir Akram’s “outstanding” contribution to multilateral diplomacy when he made his farewell call on him.

On his part, Ambassador Akram expressed gratitude for the UN’s support to the Pakistan Mission in promoting shared objectives. He was appointed to the current post in 2019.

Ambassador Akram previously served as Pakistan’s envoy in New York for six years between 2002 and 2008, after serving as Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva for seven years from 1995 to 2002. Health Sector Reforms in Punjab

Health Sector Reforms in Punjab

Abdul Rashid Shakir

Physically strong, emotionally stable, educationally qualified and vocationally trained human resource is a real asset of any society. Welfare countries around the globe invest liberally in the health, education and skill development of its population, because a well-nourished and well-nurtured workforce is not only emotionally strong but economically more productive. Governments not only introduce attractive plans customized to the local needs of its population but also incentivize people to benefit from them for good health and rewarding lifestyle. And most importantly, the resources needed to get these plans implemented are not considered expenditures but investment to increase productivity of the workforce.

For this very reason, the United Nations recommends for its member states substantial expenditures on health and education. Though no specific percentage of GDP is suggested for the healthcare sector because the more the better, spending at least 4-6% of the GDP is a minimum threshold (commonwealthfund.org). Similarly, Education 2030 Framework for Action (FFA) recommends a country to spend at least 4-6% of its GDP for providing quality education facilities to its people (Report on Education Expenditure Data, published in February 2024 by United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)’s Institute for Statistics.

The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of its people-friendly and welfare-focused Chief Minister Madam Maryam Nawaz Sharif, is committed to invest heavily in its healthcare and education sectors in order to raise a healthier and more productive workforce that can contribute massively to the socio-economic development of not only Punjab but of the entire country. Therefore, in her maiden budget after assuming charge as the Chief Executive of Punjab in February 2024, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif liberally increased funds allocation in major sectors of the economy including health, education and social protection (finance.punjab.gov.pk). The Government is not only focusing on infrastructure development is these sectors but also on introducing policy reforms, besides capacity building of the employees to ensure public satisfaction through better service delivery using digital technology.

Government’s remarkable initiatives like ‘Field Hospital’ and ‘Clinic on Wheels’ are aimed at improving access to healthcare facilities for the under-served communities across all 36 districts of Punjab. 32 field hospitals, including 21 mobile healthcare units and 11 mobile diagnostic units have been deployed under the ‘Field Hospital’ initiative, whereas 200 mobile clinics under ‘Clinic on Wheels’ project are focussed on bringing essential healthcare services to the doorsteps of some 04 Million patients in densely populated urban areas (pshealthpunjab.gov.pk). Under the initiative, 444 clinic-on-wheels vans will be provided in 112 tehsils across Punjab (punjab.gov.pk). Additionally, Motorcycle Mini-Clinics, supported by telemedicine, where paramedical staff provide initial diagnosis and treatment after real-time consultation with doctors; and Woman Clinics in district hospitals, where Mammography machines will provide diagnostic services and treatment for breast cancer and other female-specific health complications, are not less than revolutionary interventions of the Punjab Government.

Free Home Delivery of Medicines Program to deliver at the doorsteps 02-month’s medicines stock for more than 02 lac patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases, cancer, tuberculosis and hepatitis (punjab.gov.pk); Insulin Home Delivery Program to ensure safe and secure supply of insulin to patients, especially suffering from Type-I diabetes; increase in Dialysis Fund for poor patients  from Rs.700,000 to Rs.1 million;  Children Heart Surgery Program to not only  clear backlog of pediatric heart surgery cases but also to save lives of over 5,000 children who die annually due to lack of timely heart surgery (punjab.gov.pk); and Chief Minister’s Organ Transplantation Programme to get liver, kidney, bone marrow, cornea and cochlear implant transplanted at Government expense are milestone interventions of the Punjab Government to make its healthcare system more responsive to public needs.

Moreover, Madam Chief Minister is committed to get laparoscopy, endoscopy, state-of-the-art CT scan, MRI and ventilator facilities operational, besides providing trained staff and mechanical sweepers to mechanize the cleaning system in hospitals. She is determined to adopt home delivery model of health services in Punjab, besides bringing surgery in government hospitals to laparoscopy. Additionally, She is focused on building three Medical Cities in South, Central and North Punjab during her tenure.

Upgradation of tehsil and district hospitals with the latest medical equipment and machinery; revamping and upgradation of 2500 Basic Health Units (BHUs)/Rural Health Centers (RHCs); rebranding of 150 Rural Health Centers (RHCs) as ‘Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic’ to ensure the provision of best medical treatment facilities there; and the launch of ‘Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services’ in Punjab to complete 19 important tasks of the health sector, besides integrated tasks of health-related issues, are sincere efforts of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif-led Punjab Government to lend quality healthcare facilities to the people by developing the healthcare infrastructure as per international standards in order to make them more productive and valuable for the national economy. Under ‘Maryam Nawaz Community Health Services’ program, services of not only 20,000 more health inspectors will be hired, but the existing 39,000 lady health workers will also be made part of the program, raising the total workforce of the program to more than 60,000.

Pakistan’s first 1000-bed public-sector cancer hospital, Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment & Research Lahore, and Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology Sargodha are some other milestone initiatives of the Punjab Government to provide quality healthcare facilities to the common man. Moreover, restoration and upgradation of 590 major roads measuring over 11000 kMs, besides the construction of new roads, expressways and motorways in the province; the introduction of motorway ambulance service on all 76 motorway interchanges and on 1588 km-long motorways running through the province; and the launch of air ambulance service to timely shift critical patients from far-flung areas of South and North Punjab to specialized hospitals, following the ‘Golden Hour’ principle, would prove to be great initiatives for providing quality healthcare facilities to the calamity-stricken destitute people in the far-out reaches of the province. One Air Ambulance will be stationed at Rawalpindi/ Mianwali , while the other at Multan/ Bahawalnagar. (punjab.gov.pk).

New Zealand humiliate Pakistan in 4th T20 by 115 runs

New Zealand humiliate Pakistan in 4th T20

Hosts scored 221 runs in allotted 20 overs; Pakistan team was defeated by 115 runs. Pakistan could only score 106

DNA

AUKLAND: Hosts New Zealand humiliated Pakistan in the last T20 by defeating the green shirts by 115 runs.

Openers Mohammad Haris (2) and Hassan Nawaz (1) failed to give the national side a positive start and their dismissals were further compounded by skipper Salman Ali Agha (1) and Shadab Khan’s (1) wicket.

Kushdil Shah and Abbas Afridi also managed to add only six and 1 run, respectively.

With the score at 60-8, Abdul Samad (10*) and Haris Rauf (0*) are on the crease.

Earlier, dominating performance by Pakistani bowlers took Kiwis under pressure in the first innings but hosts bounced back with some power hitting.

Michael Bracewell and Daryl Mitchell stich a 50-run partnership in strong resistance before the latter was sent back to the pavilion in collaboration by Haris Rauf and Irfan Khan. This registered a three wicket haul for paceman Rauf.

The Black Caps scored 220 at the expense of six wickets.

The Men in Green won the toss and put the hosts to bat first. Captain Salman Agha’s decision was no surprise, given that the chasing team has comfortably won each of the first three games of the series.

New Zealand made two changes from the team that lost the third match in Auckland on Friday by nine wickets, leaving Pakistan trailing 2-1.

Both are to their seam attack, with Zak Foulkes and Will O´Rourke replacing Kyle Jamieson and Ben Sears.

Pakistan are unchanged from the team that won at Eden Park, highlighted by opener Hasan Nawaz’s maiden century of 105 not out off 45 balls.

In the previous game, the opener with his magnificent ton helped his side effortlessly chase a daunting 205-run target in just 16 overs to keep Pakistan alive in the series. Muhammad Haris and Agha also gave a solid helping hand and now the batters have to replicate their last performance in today’s match.

Playing XI

Pakistan: Mohammad Haris (wk), Hasan Nawaz, Salman Ali Agha (C), Muhammad Irfan Khan, Shadab Khan, Abdul Samad, KhushdilL Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf.

Nation, armed forces ready to protect motherland; render any kind of sacrifice: President

Mahnoor Ansar

ISLAMABAD, President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said that they got freedom after immense sacrifices and to protect this freedom was a huge responsibility for which the entire nation and the armed forces were ready to render any kind of sacrifice.

Addressing the Pakistan Day parade, the president said ‘Unity, faith and discipline’ was the motive given by the founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah which would enable them to meet all challenges as in the past, they had given befitting response to all external and internal terrorism.

The president congratulated the nation on the historic day and said March 23 was an important day for the nation as they achieved freedom under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam and the dream of Allama Iqbal dream that had made it possible.

Millions of Muslims who had sacrificed and turned the dream into reality, he said, adding on this day, they paid tribute to their martyrs. The president said the objective behind creation of Pakistan was the establishment of a modern welfare country based upon principles of equality, justice and rule of law.

On this day, he said they pledged to achieve the same objectives, with the same spirit with which the day was being celebrated.

The president said India had always tried to cast an evil eye on Pakistan while Khawarij and other terrorists’ outfits wanted to achieve their evil designs, but he wanted to tell them that the nation and the armed forces were standing in unison and would foil their nefarious designs.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, three services chiefs, top military brass, federal ministers, parliamentarians and members of the diplomatic corps were present during the ceremony.

He further stressed that they should also save their young generation from disappointment and despair.

The fifth-generation warfare had turned into a challenge, he said, adding that they had the capacity to overcome difficulties as they were a spirited nation and would not bog down with challenges.

The president expressed the resolve that despite all challenges, they would continue building the nation.

“Pakistan is facing geo-political challenges, while their brave armed forces, with support of nation, have been giving unprecedented sacrifices,” he added.

The president stressed upon the need of further strengthening of defence, boosting of economic sectors including agriculture, and creation of jobs for the youth.

Terming the youth of the nation as ‘an asset of the nation’, he stressed upon equipping them with the research-based education and the latest technological training.

Besides he urged all the provincial governments to focus on social welfare initiatives.

He opined that the journey was difficult but not impossible as the nation possessed the real power because determination, hard work and the spirit of patriotism had always steered them.

The president said that Pakistan’s foreign policy was based upon ensuring stability and peace and they wanted strong ties with their neighbours and the international community based upon mutual respect and shared goals of prosperity.

President Zardari also paid tribute to the armed forces and the law enforcement agencies for giving unprecedented sacrifices.

He said on March 23, they had not forgotten their Kashmiri brethren and sisters who had been bracing the Indian atrocities, and they extended their full solidarity to them and saluted their unprecedented sacrifices.

The president reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue raising its voice at all global fora for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and demanded of the international community to ensure the implementation of the UN resolutions so that Kashmiri should decide their own future.

The president also expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinians and urged the international community to take decisive actions to stop the genocide, and ensure that without any foreign interference, Palestinians should be given the right to decide their own future and sovereignty.

The president appealed to the nation to work for realization of the true objectives of the motherland and prayed for the nation’s prosperity, unity and strength.

He also appreciated the parade commander for arranging the splendid event.

During the ceremony, a marvelous flypast was displayed by the Pakistan Airforce formations.

Different formations of Sherdil, Mirage, F16, JF 17 Thunder and J10C displayed the high-speed past, piercing through sky with spectacular speed.

Earlier, the president reviewed the smartly turned-out contingents of the armed forces that took part in the parade.

A presidential salute was given to him while the national anthem was played.

The president had arrived the venue in the traditional presidential chariot accompanied by his bodyguards riding on horses.

On the occasion, the military band also presented musical tunes based upon national songs.

Nation marks Pakistan Day with resolve to rise above differences, defeat terrorism

Nation marks Pakistan Day

ISLAMABAD: The nation is celebrating Pakistan Day with patriotic zeal and fervour today (Sunday) with Aiwan-e-Sadr hosting the iconic military parade to commemorate the 1940 Lahore Resolution which provided a framework for the realisation of the goal of a separate homeland for Muslims of South Asia.

President Asif Ali Zardari is the chief guest of this year’s Pakistan Day parade, also attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, services chiefs and other dignitaries, which is being held at Aiwan-e-Sadr instead of the Shakarparian Parade Ground — which traditionally hosts the parade.

The day began with a 31-gun and 21-gun salute in the federal capital and provinces, respectively.

Meanwhile, a change of guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal in Lahore with Pakistan Air Force (PAF) contingent taking over the duties from the Rangers.

Addressing the parade, which also featured the march past of military personnel as well as the flypast of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets, President Zardari recalled the sacrifices of millions of Muslims — who laid down their lives for the creation of Pakistan.

“We have achieved freedom by making many sacrifices,” he said while underscoring the significance of the Pakistan Day.

Stressing that the people of Pakistan and the armed forces stood together, the president paid tribute to the martyrs, saying: “We have the ability to overcome difficulties [and] are not afraid of it.”

“The journey ahead of us is not easy, but it is not impossible [….] I appeal to everyone to devote all their energies to the development of the country. We have to rise above differences and work for a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan,” President Zardari said.

Noting that the country is facing various geopolitical challenges, the head of the state termed the youth as an essential capital of the country.

Touching upon the country’s foreign policy, the president said that it is based on the principles of peace and stability.

He further reiterated Pakistan’s desire to establish strong ties with its neighbouring country and the international community.

“On this day, we also remember our Kashmiri brothers, who have long been victims of Indian atrocities,” he said while reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering commitment to raising its voice for Kashmiris on all global forums.

“Our goal is to build a strong, modern Islamic welfare state,” he said, stressing the importance of safeguarding the country’s independence, which was achieved through countless sacrifices.

“We will not hesitate to make any sacrifice for the protection and freedom of our motherland,” President Zardari declared.

“We must create a Pakistan that is strong and developed,” he emphasised. The president also extended congratulations on the successful organisation of the grand parade.

President Zardari also vowed to defeat the evil intentions of extremist terrorist organisations, referring to them as the “Fitna al-Khawarij”. He affirmed that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces in the fight against terrorism.

“The menace of terrorism must be eradicated,” he stressed. “Fifth-generation warfare is a significant challenge,” he added, highlighting modern security threats.

“We are a courageous nation, fully capable of overcoming challenges,” President Zardari asserted.

He reiterated that Pakistan will never hold back from making any sacrifice for the security of the country.

“We have given a strong response to both external and internal terrorism,” he remarked, underscoring Pakistan’s resolve.

“India has always looked at Pakistan with enmity,” he noted while pointing out New Delhi’s nefarious intentions for Islamabad.

‘Steadfast will, tireless effort’
Meanwhile, in his Pakistan Day message PM Shehbaz underscored that with the “right policies, dedicated efforts, and national unity, we can achieve economic prosperity, uphold social justice, and secure our rightful place among the nations of the world”.

The premier noted that Pakistan Day “reinforces our collective will and serves as a powerful reminder of the values of sacrifice and perseverance-principles embedded in our nation’s very foundation”.

“From an emerging nation to a nuclear power, our journey has been shaped by perseverance and unwavering determination. Yet, this is not where we stop. It will take steadfast will, tireless effort, and a collective vision to transform Pakistan into the nation envisioned by our founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” he said.

The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) and the Service Chiefs extend heartfelt congratulations to the nation on the 85th anniversary of Pakistan Day.

“The 23rd of March 1940 stands as a defining moment in our history — a day that crystallised our collective vision and set the course for the creation of an independent homeland,” read the statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“Rooted in faith, guided by hope, and strengthened by resilience, this occasion epitomises the unwavering resolve of the Pakistani people.

“Today, Pakistan stands as a responsible and resolute member of the global community — advocating peace, stability, and cooperation. As one united nation, we march forward with renewed hope and an unshakable commitment to enduring prosperity. We shall continue to uphold and defend the peace that defines our national character, ensuring that Pakistan remains a beacon of harmony in the world,” the military’s media wing added.
