At least a dozen Palestinians killed in Israeli air strike

GAZA CITY: Israeli air strikes attacked Gaza on Sunday, killing at least a dozen people, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the bloody offensive would continue as long as necessary. Israel and Hamas, who have been fighting for 48 days, looked unlikely to end their deadly face-off even after Egypt called for an indefinite ceasefire and new truce talks to end a war that has killed more than 2,100 Palestinians and 68 Israelis, mostly soldiers.

Pakistani stocks rise by 400 points at KSE 100-index

KARACHI: Pakistani stocks witnessed a sharp ascent on Thursday as Karachi Stock Exchange 100-index rose by 400 points and crossed the level of 29,000. In the inter-bank market, the dollar fell to 100.90 rupees as it saw a slight decline of 20 paisa. The foreign investors with net purchases of $0.21m worth of stocks also helped to lift sentiments. The market has been fidgety due to the ongoing protests by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

Health ministry issues Ebola virus advisory

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) has sent an advisory to the Islamabad capital territory (ICT) administration, the Capital Development Authority and the chief secretaries of all provinces to take precautionary measures against the Ebola disease. In the advisory, the ministry said in the recent past West Africa (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone) had experienced the outbreak of the disease where 1,378 cases had been reported with 746 deaths and fatality rate of up to 90 per cent.

PTCL posts strong results for Q2FY14 with 10% cash dividend

ISLAMABAD, JUL 15 (DNA) – Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), the largest ICT services provider in Pakistan, on Tuesday announced strong second quarter results riding on the back of its growing fixed and wireless broadband business.PTCL announced revenues of Rs 42.8 billion for the period ended June 30, 2014, an increase of 7% over the same period of last year, while gross and net profit of the Company stood at Rs. 15.3 and 6.9 billion respectively. The Board of Directors has declared 10% interim cash dividend.

Palestinans’ plights needs OIC’s response

While Israeli forces continue to kill innocent Palestinian people, the OIC as usual has failed to act. Over 2000 armless Palestinians have so far been killed by brutal Israeli gangsters, who ostensibly doing all this at the behest of their patrons within the US administration. However the US alone is not to be blamed for the plight of the Palestinians. The Muslim world and especially the godfathers of the OIC and Arab League are equally responsible.

At least 150 killed as 6.1 quake strikes China

BEIJING: At least 150 people have died after an earthquake struck a remote part of southwestern China on Sunday, state news agency Xinhua reported. The US Geological Survey said the quake registered at a shallow depth of less than 1 mile. The US Geological Survey said the magnitude-6.1 quake hit Yunnan province at 4:30 pm at a depth of 10 kilometers.

CGames: Indian officials reportedly arrested for assault

NEW DELHI: Scottish police have arrested two Indian officials who were in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games for alleged assault, according to Indian media reports on Sunday. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) secretary general Rajeev Mehta was arrested over an alleged incident in Glasgow on Saturday, the Times Now network reported. Wrestling referee Virender Malik was also detained elsewhere in the Scottish city on Saturday for a separate case of assault, according to the network.
