Workers jump to their deaths as Dhaka office block fire kills seven
DHAKA: (DNA) – Desperate workers leaped to their deaths, as a huge fire tore through a Dhaka office block on Thursday killing at least seven people and trapping others in the latest major inferno to hit the Bangladesh capital.Six people died after jumping from the 22-floor building while another victim suffered fatal burns, officials said.Emergency services said at least 65 people were being treated in hospitals.People were seen screaming for help as hundreds of panicked onlookers crowded the streets of the upmarket Banani commercial district.
Investiture ceremony held at Corps Headquarters Lahore
LAHORE, MAR 28 (DNA) – An investiture ceremony was held at Corps Headquarters Lahore today.Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan conferred military awards to Army personnel for acts of gallantry during operations, outstanding performances in respective fields and for their long meritorious services.Twenty-three officers were awarded SITARA-I-IMTIAZ (MILITARY), forty-eight officers were awarded TAMGHA-E-IMTIAZ (MILITARY) and fifteen officers and soldiers were awarded TAMGHA-E-BISALAT. ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – The Islamabad High Court on Thursday granted pre-arrest bail to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur in the case pertaining to money laundering of billions through fictitious bank accounts.PPP’s top leadership, Omni Group’s Anwar Majeed and his son Abdul Ghani Majeed, former Pakistan Stock Exchange chairperson Hussain Lawai, Summit Bank Senior Vice-President Taha Raza are among those being investigated in a case related to money laundering of billions through fictitious bank accounts. The matter is also being heard by the Supreme Court.

Nawaz to be shifted to Sharif Medical City for treatment
LAHORE (DNA) – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be shifted to the Sharif Medical City for treatment after getting a six-week bail on medical grounds by the Supreme Court.Nawaz Sharif’s doctor said it will be determined whether the treatment is possible or not in six weeks after the check-up of the former premier.It is worth mentioning here that the Supreme Court had on Tuesday granted bail to former premier Nawaz Sharif for six weeks against a surety bond of Rs5 million in a petition filed on medical grounds in Al-Azizia corruption reference; however, with a restriction that he cannot leave the country.
Lahore: Woman allegedly tortured by husband, friends for refusing to dance
LAHORE (DNA) – A woman was allegedly assaulted by her husband and his friends in Lahore’s Defence area for refusing to dance in front of them The victim, who was identified as Asma Aziz, told that she was brutally tortured by her husband Mian Faisal and his friends with pipes. She told that she was held down by a servant while her husband shaved her head.
