Foreign Minister visits Sri Lankan High Commission to offer condolences

ISLAMABAD, MAY 03 (DNA) – Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited the Sri Lankan High Commission in Islamabad today to offer condolences following Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka. The Foreign Minister strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attacks and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers for speedy recovery of the wounded.

SC dismisses Nawaz’s plea seeking permanent bail

ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday dismissed a petition filed by ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif seeking permanent bail on medical grounds.A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case in Court Room no. 1.The court maintained that none of the doctors who examined the former premier had recommended that his treatment was only possible abroad.

ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – Prime Minister launched “Ehsaas” program, a social protection and poverty alleviation initiative , on March 27. The preliminary policy statement of the Ehsaas program was tweeted by the Prime Minister on April 8, 2019, which outlined Ehsaas’ 4 pillars and its 115 policy areas.Ehsaas is an extensive program and it is meant to be implemented through 20 federal ministries/divisions, 6 federal agencies involved in poverty alleviation and social protection, four provincial governments, AJK and GB.The newly created Division of Poverty Alleviation and Safety Nets is the coordinating agency of the Ehsaas program.

SC to hear Nawaz petition for bail extension today

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – A three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan will today (Friday) hear Nawaz Sharif’s petition seeking extension in the bail granted to him on medical grounds.The three-member bench headed Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and also comprising Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and Justice Yahya Afridi will hear the case.Nawaz Sharif had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on April 30 which stated that a review petition had been filed in the Supreme Court on its March 26 decision. The petition sought an extension in Nawaz’s bail until a decision on the review petition.

Notification regarding office timings during Ramazan issued

ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The Establishment Division has issued notification regarding timings of Govt offices during the holy month of Ramazan.In the notification it was stated that Ramazan timings for the offices working five days a week would be 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM (from Monday to Thursday). On Friday, the timings would be from 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM.

Govt held meetings with opposition to amend NAB law: Farogh Naseem

China’s position on Kashmir issue clear, consistent: Spokesperson

BEIJING (DNA) – China on Wednesday reiterated that its position on the Kashmir issue was clear and consistent that it should be properly resolved through negotiations by the relevant parties.The approval of listing of Masood Azhar had nothing to do with the Kashmir issue and would not affect China’s position on the longstanding dispute, Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Geng Shuang said in response to a question asked.
