Turkey strongly reacts over Peshawar blast

ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – The government of Turkey has condemned a suicide bomb attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa capital at a political rally late Tuesday which killed at least 21 people.“We learned with sorrow that a terrorist attack perpetrated at an election rally in Peshawar resulted in the loss of lives of many and left many others wounded,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday morning.

China supports Palestinian people: President Xi JinPing

BEIJING – (DNA) –  China will provide one hundred million US dollars to Jordan, Syria, Yemen and Palestine as humanitarian assistance.The announcement was made by Chinese President, Xi Jinping during a meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum in Beijing.Xi said that China would also help the Palestinian people to strengthen their diplomatic interests in the international arena.

SBP directs banks to collect funds for dams’ construction

KARACHI,  (DNA) – Following the instructions of the Supreme Court, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday ordered all the commercial banks and microfinance banks operating in the country to open ‘Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Account-2018’ to collect funds for construction of the dams.The consumers can make donations and contributions to the funds in the form of cash, cheque, prize bonds and other cash equivalents hereto, against which the bank shall issue a proper receipt.

Qatar Airways plans 250 destinations by 2022

DOHA: (DNA) – Qatar Airways will continue its expansion plans by adding new destinations and purchasing new aircraft.Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, Qatar Airways, said yesterday that the award-winning airline will increase its reach to around 220 destinations by 2022 from the current count of over 164 destinations. Adding the expansion for its new destinations for its air cargo, the total number of destinations will reach around 250 destinations.

Turkey train disaster leaves 24 dead, hundreds hurt

ISTANBUL, (DNA) – Twenty-four people were killed and hundreds injured when a train packed with weekend passengers derailed in northwest Turkey due to ground erosion after heavy rains, officials said Monday.The train, which was carrying 362 passengers, was travelling from the Edirne region on the Greek and Bulgarian borders to Istanbul´s Halkali station on Sunday when six carriages derailed in the Tekirdag region.

Indian top court bars offering namaz at Taj Mahal mosque

NEW DELHI, (DNA) – The Supreme Court on Monday refused Muslims to offer namaz at the mosque of Taj Mahal stating that the monument’s preservation is of utmost importance.According to the court, the historic Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world and must be preserved. It thus observed that there shouldn’t be any prayers performed at the monument.The court’s judgment is only applicable to outsiders and not locals as for now.
