FM Qureshi urges Rights Council for intervention in occupied Kashmir

GENEVA (DNA) -Pak FM Mr. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi is his country statement delivered at the 42nd session of (UNHRC) session in Geneva, called upon it to play its role in restoring the basic human rights of the Kashmiris to avoid a human catastrophe in IOJK.

He said the human rights body should intervene and force India to immediately lift curfew and release all detainees.

The foreign minister further said India had let loose reign of terror in the occupied Kashmir adding the innocent people of Kashmir needed immediate world help.

Queen appoints Pakistani businessman as House of Lords member

LONDON: British Pakistani businessman Zameer Choudrey, Chief Executive of Bestway Group, has been appointed to the House of Lords under the Queen’s intention of conferring Peerages of the United Kingdom.

In an announcement made by former Prime Minister Theresa May recognised key political aides, a sporting hero and business leaders in her resignation honour list. Zameer Choudrey’s appointment as the Lord is a huge honour for Pakistan and recognition of the hard work of Pakistanis in Britain.

Choudrey CBE is the nephew of Sir Anwar Pervez. He will formally take oath as a member of the House of Lord in a few weeks.

‘India threatened Sri Lankan players to opt out of Pakistan tour’

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday claimed India threatened Sri Lanka players over not being able to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) if they travelled to Pakistan for their tour later this month.

In a post on Twitter, Chaudhry said, “Informed sports commentators told me that India threatened SL players that they’ll be ousted from IPL if they don’t refuse Pakistan visit.”

“This is really cheap tactic, jingoism from sports to space is something we must condemn, really cheap on the part of Indian sports authorities,” the minister added.

The Foreign Minister of Pakistan Mr. Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva, today and called upon him to play his role in providing basic health needs to the 15 million Kashmiris of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir who are facing draconian curfew since India revoked Article 370 and 35A of its constitution on August 5 in an illegal and unconstitutional manner depriving the Kashmiris of their legitimate autonomous status. The foreign minister also stressed the need to declare health emergency in IOJK.

UN HR commissioner expresses concern over Jammu and Kashmir situation

GENEVA, SEPT 9 (DNA) -Responding to a media question regarding remarks made on Monday at the 42nd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights about the deteriorating situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K), the Spokesperson said   “I am deeply concerned about the impact of recent actions by the Government of India on the human rights of Kashmiris, including restrictions on internet communications and peaceful assembly, and the detention of local political leaders and activists.”

Pakistan urges UN to prevent bigger crisis in Jammu & Kashmir

Maleeha Lodhi, has called for action on part of the UN, not just words,
