PESHAWAR – Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth – who was one of the two judges to hand death penalty to General (retd) Pervez Musharraf – has on Friday said he only watches wrestling on TV.Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth got involved in an interesting dialogue with a local lawyer. Advocate Muazzam Butt said to the chief justice that it is an achievement that you are still relaxed in such circumstances.Justice Waqar Seth inquired from the counsel that what happened to the circumstances. “Everything was normal in the morning when I came to the court. Aren’t you planning to do something?”

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to take legal action against judge Waqar Ahmed Seth over his controversial observation in the detailed judgment of the high treason case sentencing former military dictator Pervez Musharraf to death.Federal Law Minister Farogh Naseem said that the federal government has decided to file a reference at the Supreme Judicial Council against Justice Waqar Seth for his observation in paragraph 66 of the case.

The detailed verdict in the high treason case against former military ruler retired Gen Pervez Musharraf was released on Thursday, two days after the special court found the former president guilty of treason and handed him a death sentence.The bench was headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth and comprised Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the LHC.

Musharraf treason case: Special court issues detailed verdict

The special court, which had found General (retd) Pervez Musharraf guilty over high treason charges earlier this week, issued its detailed verdict on Thursday.A copy of the detailed verdict has been handed to an official of the Ministry of Interior.On Tuesday, the court had sentenced Musharraf to death for imposing a state of emergency on November 3, 2007, adding that it had found him guilty of high treason in accordance with Article 6 of the Constitution of Pakistan.The case was heard by a bench comprising Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court and Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court.
