Nejdet Unuvar says Parliamentary elections will significantly contribute to reforms conducted in Azerbaijan

BAKU, FEB 06 — The parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan will be held in democratic conditions and will give significant contribution to the country’s further development, former head of the Azerbaijani-Turkish inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Nejdet Unuvar told.Noting that every election is essential in terms of the strengthening of a country, Unuvar said: “Each election held in Azerbaijan strengthens the country economically, socially and politically. In addition, every election means renewal, getting the support of people again. I am confident that these elections would significantly contribute to the reforms in Azerbaijan”.

Chief editors of leading Pakistani media visit Report

BAKU (TREND/DNA) A group of leading media representatives from Pakistan arrived in Baku to cover the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

AZERBAIJAN ELECTIONS: Head of OSCE election observation mission visited state committee

BAKU, FEB 06 — Chairman of the State Committee for Refugee and IDP Affairs Rovshan Rzayev has met with head of the Election Observation Mission of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), Ambassador Peter Taylor and the election analyst Masa Janjusevic, the State Committee told.Rovshan Rzayev provided an insight into the current state of the refugees and IDPs who had been displaced from their homeland as a result of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the state care shown to them.

1321 deputy candidates to compete in parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan

BAKU, FEB 06  —  2431 people have appealed to participate in the parliamentary elections to be held on February 9, 2020 in Azerbaijan,  reports citing the website of the Central Election Commission (CEC).315 of the 1637 people, whose nomination were registered, have withdrawn their candidacy so far, CEC has cancelled candidacy of one person.Currently, number of candidates is 1321.

Maldives President appoints Ahmed Saleem as Ambassador-at-large

MALE, FEB 5 (DNA) -President of Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Mr. Ahmed Saleem as Ambassador-at-large. The ceremony was held this morning at the President’s Office.Prior to this appointment, Mr Saleem fulfilled the role of Ambassador of the Maldives to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.Saleem joined the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1968. He had a long and distinguished career in the Maldivian Foreign Service (MFS) spanning for over 21 years, participating in numerous sessions of the United Nations General Assembly.

AZERBAIJAN ELECTIONS: Voting to be held at 5573 polling stations

BAKU, FEB 05 – “Voting for the February 9 elections to the Azerbaijani Parliament will be held at 5573 polling stations”, Shahin Asadli, the head of the Central Election Commission’s media and public relations department told.Overall, the elections will cover 125 constituencies. Voting in the country will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m.By the decision of the Central Election Commission 5,387,600 ballot papers were printed.

Foreign observation mission began its activity in Azerbaijan

BAKU, FEB 04 — The observer mission from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) began to observe the preparation and conduct of parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan scheduled for February 9.SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sherali Saidamir Jonon leads the mission and it includes representatives of the legislative, executive and electoral bodies of the SCO member states, as well as officials of the SCO Secretariat. Members of the Mission will conduct observations in Baku and settlements of the Absheron Peninsula, Sumgait, Shirvan, as well as in the areas around them.
