GENEVA (DNA) -Pakistan’s First Lady Mrs Samina Alvi who was invited by the World Health Organization as the chief guest of international consultation on Global Report on Effective Access to Assistive Technologies, has expressed the hope that the ongoing efforts of WHO, would certainly achieve improvment in research, production and use of the assistive technology. Which she said will help in bringing greater independence and comfort in the lives of people with special needs as well as aging population . She was speaking at the concluding session of consultation at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva.

Dr. Firdous says Kashmir issue clash between two ideologies
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday has said that Kashmir issue is not only a dispute between two countries but it is also a conflict of two ideologies.Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad, the special assistant said India has converted Kashmir territory into a jail and innocent people are suffering hardships of curfew for last eighteen days.She further urged United Nations (UN) and other International Human Rights Organizations (IHROs) to take notice of Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.

Plastic particles in drinking water present ‘low’ risk: WHO
GENEVA, AUG 22 (DNA) — Microplastics contained in drinking water pose a “low” risk to human health at current levels, but more research is needed to reassure consumers, the World Health Organisation (WHO) said on Thursday.Studies over the past year on plastic particles detected in tap and bottled water have sparked public concerns but the limited data appears reassuring, the UN agency said its first report on potential health risks associated with ingestion.Microplastics enter drinking water sources mainly through run-off and wastewater effluent, the WHO said. Evidence shows that microplastics found in some bottled water seem to be at least partly due to the bottling process and/or packaging such as plastic caps, it said.
Pakistan pursuing growth-oriented programme for economic revival: Hafeez

HEC scholarship cell has facilitated scores of Pakistani students so far

UN chief suggests dialogue between Pakistan, India to resolve Kashmir issue
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has reiterated the intergovernmental organisation suggestion of holding dialogues between India and Pakistan to settle the grave crisis stemming from India’s annexation of the disputed Kashmir region.In his regular media briefing at UN Headquarters in New York, Spokesman of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric, said: “Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is a strong believer of [holding] dialogues.”The spokesman said the position of the United Nations on this region has been governed by the UN Charter and applicable Security Council resolutions.
