LYON, SEPT 14 (DNA) – Attracting scores of people, aesthetically decorated Pakistan’s pavilion at the 18th Lyon International Cultural Festival remained the centre of attraction for visitors.The festival is one of the main annual cultural events of Lyon which brings over 50 countries together showcasing their culture and traditions. This year 56 countries are participating at the festival.The Mayor of Lyon Gerard Colomb inaugurated the festival and visited different pavilions. While visiting the Pakistan pavilion, the Mayor thanked Ambassador Moin ul Haque for participation and enriching the festival with vibrant and beautiful colours of Pakistan.
PML-N asks chief justice to take notice of case against Rana Sanaullah
ISLAMABAD: (DNA) – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday demanded the chief justice take notice of the case against former Punjab law minister Rana Sanaulla, who is facing a trial on charges of possessing drugs.PMLN spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said, Sanuallah’s arrest was the worst example of political revenge and was a slap in the face of the justice system.“Rana Sanaullah was arrested on drug-related charges, but the inquiry has shifted to scrutinising his assets. The government is prosecuting him Sanaullah without a judge and a lawyer,” Aurangzeb said.
Four Pak Army soldiers martyred, two militants killed near Afghan border
RAWALPINDI (DNA) – Four soldiers embraced martyrdom while another soldier sustained injuries in two separate incidents of firing by militants on the western border, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated on Saturday.According to a statement issued by ISPR Director General (DG) Major General Asif Ghafoor further revealed that two militants were shot dead in response by the military.

Pakistani think-tank, Kyrgyz institute sign MoU
ISLAMABAD, SEPT 14 (DNA) – The Chairman of the Kyrgyz Association of Women of the Security, Law and Order Sector Prof. Dr. Aydarkul Kaana had a meeting with the President of the Center for Global and Strategic Studies (CGSS) of Pakistan, Major General (retired) Khalid Amir Jaffrey at the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Islamabad.A Memorandum of Understanding between the CGSS and Kyrgyz Association of Women of the Security, Law and Order Sector was signed.According to the signed MoU, it is planned to establish cooperation between two organizations in the field of security, exchange visits, scientific conferences and seminars.
NAB proceedings face delay due to non-cooperation of foreign countries: report
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has issued its annual report in which it has been revealed that the proceedings are facing delay due to non-cooperation of foreign countries.The anti-corruption watchdog wrote 50 letters in one year including the extradition of seven wanted suspects, but only five of them were answered.Further details suggest that the anti-graft body sought particulars of incarcerated former premier Nawaz Sharif’s assets from the authorities of England, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
ECP to dispose of election material of ‘undisputed’ General Election 2018 constituencies
ISLAMABAD (DNA) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to waste the election material of General Election 2018.Sources familiar with the matter told the media on Saturday that the ECP has directed all regional and district-level election commissioners to comply with the orders, and dispose of ballot papers, counter files, forms of non-disputed constituencies.However, the election material will be discarded of only those constituencies whose cases were not pending in the election tribunal or courts.
Legislators urge for national response for achieving SDGs and recognizing the role of private sector
ISLAMABAD, (DNA) – In what could be a significant step towards achieving SDGs and national development agenda in Pakistan, lawmakers representing major political parties from Senate, National Assembly and four Provincial Assemblies recognizing the importance of achieving SDGs joined hands and vowed to lead the process for generating a national response for achieving SDGs.The legislators had gathered at the First National Legislators’ Conclave, on Financing Sustainable Development Goals. The conclave was organized by Institute of Social and Policy Sciences (I-SAPS) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ).
Kashmiris not to succumb to India’s repression: AJK president
BRUSSELS, SEPT 14 (DNA) – The AJK President Sardar Masood Khan has called upon the Kashmiri and Pakistani expatriates to make hectic efforts to highlight Kashmir issue in Europe in its true perspective. “Kashmir was and would never become part of India but this is a conflict, and its solution lies in the relevant UN resolutions only,” he declared.Addressing Kashmiri and Pakistani Diaspora here on Saturday, he said that India through the use of brute force would never succeed in suppressing the just struggle of Kashmiri people for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.
