Top US news agency compares Modi with Hiltler

United Press International, a leading US news agency, compared Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with tyrant Adolf Hitler for choosing war path and increasing tensions between Pakistan and India rather than accepting peace offer from Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The article published by UPI.com explained as to how he choose to do away with the peace offer and adopted a path of increasing hostilities between the two neighbouring nuclear-armed countries.

The article says that “not coming from a position of weakness, but from a desire to decrease tension, Pakistan’s recently elected Prime Minister Imran Khan reached out to India, offering to take two steps toward peace providing India would take one.”

Unfortunately, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to view Khan’s offer much the same as Chancellor Adolf Hitler viewed British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain’s desire for “peace in our time.”

The article stated that  Modi  and his Bharatiya Janata Party have brought back the narrative of “cross border tensions.” Instead of taking one step toward peace with Pakistan, Modi is increasing tension on the Line of Control with Pakistan.

About Indian atrocities in Occupied Kashmir

The article urged the world to wake up to the reality of Occupied Kashmir and reminded the readers that Modi’s  act of stripping Occupied Kashmir of it’s special status and the persistent lockdown are just the tip of the iceberg in what the Modi and BJP are doing in the valley.

It also details how Citizenship Amendment Act excluded Muslims of India and the  immediated construction of concentration camps is reminiscent of Hitler-era Germany.

“The slander campaign against the Muslims received a major boost with the outbreak of coronavirus. Modi and his party commenced claiming the Muslim population was responsible for the virus’ spread. In time of crisis, people will turn on each other, especially when encouraged by their governments. Subject to being attacked on the streets, Muslim victims were denied hospital access, despite the need for immediate attention in many cases,” reads the article written by Retired Col. Wes Martin of the U.S. Army Military Police.

“Until his (Modi’s) aggression and genocide are stopped, Albert Einstein’s warning will prevail: “The world is a dangerous place, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who do nothing about it,” the author concludes.

The Foreign Minister was addressing a high-level Webinar hosted by the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu to discuss the situation of Refugees and Other Displaced Persons during the Pandemic and the need for international cooperation. He was joined by UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Foreign Ministers of Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Austria (ex-FM), EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, and Deputy Director General of WHO.

While sharing that Pakistan has provided protection, offered opportunities for education, health, livelihoods, vocational trainings, and social mobility to millions of Afghan refugees for over 4 decades, he added that the presence of 3 million Afghans is a clear illustration of Pakistani generosity, compassion and hospitality.

Foreign Minister Qureshi referred to the compassionate and holistic approach of the Government of Pakistan to combat impacts of COVID-19 including the US $ 8 billion relief package announced by the Prime Minister Imran Khan. No State can handle the magnitude of this crisis, he added.

The Foreign Minister presented a 7-point agenda to enable large refugee hosting countries to combat COVID-19 wherein he highlighted the need for adequate financing of UNHCR’s Refugee Response Plans; continuity of regular support for refugees to host countries; provision of “liquidity” and necessary fiscal space for large refugee hosting countries;supporting the services infrastructure in the host countries; immediate provision of medicines and equipment;equal treatment of protracted large refugee situations with the new emerging ones; ceasing of any hostilities or conflict, and ceasefire in the countries of origin of the refugees and continued work on creation of “pull” factors for return and reintegration of refugees.

Foreign Minister Qureshi stressed that since the virus did not differentiate on the basis of nationalities, race, religion, ethnicity or colour, the international community especially the UN must not differentiate in different categories of Afghans in Pakistan in extending support.

WHO wants strict 2-week lockdown

WHO strongly recommends that the Punjab government adopts the two weeks off and two weeks on strategy as it offers the smallest curve

ISLAMABAD (DNA) -The World Health Organisation has recommended enforcing a strict two-week lockdown in Punjab as the number of coronavirus cases continues to grow in the province.

In a letter to the Punjab government, WHO lauded the provincial government’s efforts in response to the pandemic.

“Government intervention on April 12th 2020 detailing social distancing measures including restrictions, closure of schools and businesses, international travel restrictions and geographical area restrictions were instituted with the aim of limiting the spread of the disease,” the letter said.

The organisation said during the lockdown, the country was reporting 1,000 cases per day. However, this number increased after the federal government eased the lockdown in the country. “SOPs need to be strictly enforced to stem the spread of the virus,” the letter said.

Cases increasing beyond 100,000 in Pakistan is a cause for concern, WHO said. WHO recommends that for any government that wants to start lifting restrictions, the following six conditions must be met: Disease transmission is under control Health system can “detect, test, isolate and treat every case and trace every contact” Hot spot risks are minimized in vulnerable places, such as nursing homes

Schools, workplaces and other essential places have established preventive measures The risk of importing new cases “can be managed” Communities are fully educated, engaged and empowered to live under a new normal

WHO strongly recommends that the government adopts the two weeks off and two weeks on strategy as it offers the smallest curve. It also recommends strengthening all public health measures such as quarantine, isolation, physical distancing and contact tracing.
