DUBAI, DEC 20: Pakistan Under-19 booked their place in the final of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 with a commanding eight-wicket win over Bangladesh U19 at the Sevens Stadium on Friday.

The semi-final was reduced to 27 overs per side due to overnight rain and a wet outfield, leading to a delayed start.

Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf won the toss and elected to field, a decision that proved decisive as his bowlers dominated proceedings.

Bangladesh U19 were bundled out for 121 runs in 26.3 overs, struggling against disciplined Pakistani bowling. Right-arm pacer Abdul Subhan led the attack with an outstanding 4 for 20, applying pressure through the middle overs.

Strong support from bowling unit

Abdul Subhan was well supported by Huzaifa Ahsan, who claimed 2 for 10. Ali Raza, Mohammad Sayyam, and Ahmed Hussain chipped in with one wicket each to ensure Bangladesh never built momentum.

For Bangladesh, Samiun Basir was the top scorer with 33 runs, offering brief resistance before the innings collapsed.

Sameer Minhas anchors Pakistan’s chase

In reply, Pakistan chased down the target comfortably, reaching 122 for 2 in 16.3 overs. Opener Sameer Minhas starred with a superb unbeaten 69 off 57 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes to control the run chase.

Usman Khan provided brisk support with 27 runs, including two fours and two sixes.

Ahmed remained not out on 11, calmly guiding Pakistan to victory without any late drama.

Only 5 hashtags? Instagram’s new rule will shock creators

Only 5 hashtags? Instagram’s new rule will shock creators

New policy aims to reduce spam, scams, and abuse of hashtags

Instagram is tightening its hashtag rules, now allowing only five hashtags per post and reel. The change, confirmed by CEO Adam Mosseri, is aimed at improving content discovery and reducing spam.

Instagram has long experimented with limiting hashtag use, at times restricting some users to three hashtags. The platform has now established a universal cap of five hashtags per post and reel.

CEO Adam Mosseri emphasized that fewer, well-chosen hashtags outperform long, generic lists. “Quality over quantity is key,” he noted in an update on his advice channel.

Reason behind change

The new policy aims to reduce spam, scams, and abuse of hashtags. Overuse of hashtags has often cluttered posts, making content harder to read and discover.

Instagram explained that thoughtful, relevant hashtags improve engagement and user experience while discouraging irrelevant tagging.

Tips for optimal hashtag use

Instagram shared practical advice for creators to maximize hashtag effectiveness:

  • Be intentional and choose hashtags relevant to your content.
Example: Beauty creators should use beauty-related hashtags to reach interested audiences.
  • Avoid generic or overused tags like #reels or #explore, which may not improve visibility and can even reduce content performance.

For content creators, the new limitation encourages strategy and quality over quantity. For users, it should make feeds and captions cleaner and easier to navigate.

The five-hashtag limit also aligns with Instagram’s long-term push to prioritize meaningful content over discoverability tricks.

PTI condemns Toshakhana II verdict; Gohar says ‘justice murdered’

PTI condemns Toshakhana II verdict; Gohar says ‘justice murdered'

ISLAMABAD, DEC 20: Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the verdict in the Toshakhana II case on Saturday, calling it unprecedented and unconstitutional, as the party warned of growing political instability and erosion of justice in the country.

Addressing a joint press conference, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan said the verdict announced today handed 10 years’ imprisonment in the Toshakhana II case.

He stated that the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi have now been sentenced to a combined total of 60 years, describing the decision as a grave miscarriage of justice.

‘Justice murdered’
Gohar said the entire country was saddened by the ruling, declaring that “justice has been murdered today.”

He added that the party had hoped the chain of punishments would stop as Pakistan moved into the new year, but alleged that certain forces were deliberately blocking the path toward democracy.

The PTI chairman said that for the first time in Pakistan’s history, a person had been punished four times for the same offence, calling it a clear violation of the constitution and the law.

He warned that such decisions would not only deepen public disappointment but also increase chaos and political instability across the country.

Allegations of extra-constitutional decisions
Barrister Gohar questioned how democracy could survive when, according to him, extra-constitutional decisions were being made on a daily basis.

He claimed that not only politicians, but judges at the civil, district, high court and even Supreme Court levels were no longer safe, adding that people were also no longer secure inside Parliament.

Recalling the background, Barrister Gohar said that in August 2022, allegations emerged that Toshakhana gifts were not declared.

He said the Election Commission disqualified the PTI founder for five years and sent a reference, followed by another complaint on the same allegation, leading to a trial that concluded in just five days, without allowing full cross-examination or submission of documents.

Claims of repeated trials on same matter
He further stated that the NAB later filed another reference on the same allegations, even though 78 Toshakhana items had already been declared.

Barrister Gohar alleged that only one item was raised again, the trial was re-run, and punishments were handed down once more, calling it a clear case of repeated prosecution for the same matter.

Barrister Gohar said that just a day earlier, PTI leadership had been sentenced to a combined 70 years, and another verdict could lead to additional 10-year sentences.

He warned that with seven more cases pending, Bushra Bibi’s total sentence could reach 140 years if similar rulings continued.

PTI vows peaceful, constitutional protest
Despite harsh criticism, Barrister Gohar emphasized that PTI would not resort to chaos or violence.

He said the party would protest strictly within constitutional limits, vowing not to give space to what he described as fascist and undemocratic forces, and to “extract positives from the negatives.”

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said the verdict came unexpectedly after court proceedings. He stressed that the issue went beyond one political party, calling it a collective struggle and a war of principles, not a fight for power.

Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser said the fundamental right to vote was taken away on February 8, alleging election rigging.

He announced that PTI would observe February 8 as a black day, issue white papers on the economy and judiciary, and unveil a future plan of action after two days of consultations.

Barrister Gohar concluded by saying the PTI founder remains imprisoned for the freedom of the people.

He appealed to authorities not to block the public’s path, warning that when people are stopped from moving forward, they ultimately find their own way.

Trump Doles Out Syria’s Golan Heights to Israel

Qamar Bashir

Qamar Bashir

During a White House Hanukkah celebration on December 16, 2025, President Donald Trump made a startling declaration about the Golan Heights, openly revisiting his 2019 decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty over territory internationally acknowledged as Syrian land occupied by Israel during the 1967 war. Trump boasted that no previous American president had dared take such a step, portraying his action as bold, swift, and unconstrained by diplomatic caution. He framed the recognition not as a complex legal judgment but as an act of personal resolve, reducing decades of international dispute to a matter he claimed required only minutes to decide.

Trump described the decision making process with casual bravado, saying he asked then United States Ambassador to Israel David Friedman to explain the importance of the Golan Heights in five minutes or less. According to Trump, he interrupted after barely two minutes, declared that he understood everything necessary, and proceeded to approve recognition immediately. He joked that the land was worth trillions of dollars and remarked that he should have asked Israel for something in return. The remarks transformed a grave issue of sovereignty, occupation, and war into an anecdote of impulsive executive authority with profound geopolitical consequences worldwide today.

Trump used the occasion to reaffirm his broader alignment with Israel and the Jewish community, listing what he described as historic achievements of his presidency. He cited moving the United States embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, backing the Abraham Accords, and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear agreement negotiated under President Barack Obama. According to Trump, that deal endangered regional security rather than containing Iran. He framed each policy as evidence of loyalty, friendship, and moral clarity, repeatedly portraying himself as the most reliable ally Israel has ever had in Washington during modern United States political history overall period today.

He also spoke at length about his personal connections with Jewish Americans, recalling childhood interactions through his father and emphasizing long standing familiarity rather than political calculation. He referenced his daughter Ivanka Trump’s conversion to Judaism after marrying Jared Kushner as further proof of closeness, though he avoided addressing persistent rumors about his own religious affiliation. These remarks blended personal narrative with state policy, reinforcing the impression that national decisions affecting millions were shaped through intimacy, sentiment, and loyalty rather than institutional deliberation or international legal frameworks governing norms, accountability, restraint, balance, precedent, credibility, neutrality, consistency, legitimacy, stability, justice globally.

The most revealing segment of Trump’s speech came when he warned that Congress and the Senate were becoming increasingly antisemitic, claiming that traditional pro Israel influence in Washington was fading. He described this shift as dangerous and urged greater vigilance from supporters. The statement was remarkable, amounting to a rare acknowledgment that even within American political institutions discomfort with Israel’s conduct is growing. Yet the warning also functioned as pressure, implying that loyalty to Israel should remain a litmus test for legitimacy within United States politics despite constitutional pluralism, debate, dissent, oversight, accountability, ethics, law, values, representation, balance, restraint, democracy.

Despite Trump’s claims of declining support, Israel continues to enjoy unparalleled diplomatic, military, and financial backing from the United States. Washington has repeatedly used its veto power at the United Nations to shield Israel from accountability, even when resolutions condemning occupation or settlement expansion enjoy overwhelming global support. This posture places the United States above the rules it demands others obey, undermining the credibility of the international system it helped construct. Trump’s rhetoric thus exposed a contradiction between professed grievance and actual power exercised globally, institutionally, strategically, consistently, decisively, coercively, selectively, visibly, persistently, controversially, openly, repeatedly, internationally, historically, forcefully today.

Trump’s conduct cannot be examined in isolation from regional realities. Several Muslim majority states have normalized relations with Israel, expanded trade, and entered energy partnerships even as Gaza suffers devastation. Egypt’s multibillion dollar gas agreements with Israel inject revenue into the Israeli economy during ongoing military campaigns. These arrangements are celebrated publicly, while Palestinian suffering continues largely unchecked. Such actions weaken moral criticism of Washington, revealing a regional order where economic interests and regime security override solidarity with Palestine principles, law, justice, humanity, ethics, responsibility, restraint, accountability, credibility, consistency, conscience, leadership, courage, unity, vision, balance, resolve, purpose, fairness, legitimacy, peace.

Reports of military logistics and arms transfers passing through or involving regional actors have further deepened perceptions of complicity. Whether fully substantiated or not, these allegations reinforce a widespread belief that Palestinian blood is discounted in exchange for alliances and profits. In such a context, outrage directed solely at Trump or the United States appears selective and incomplete. Power is sustained not only by those who wield it, but also by those who enable it through silence, cooperation, and convenience across borders, systems, institutions, markets, governments, cultures, alliances, blocs, regions, conflicts, wars, crises, decades, generations, history, memory, politics, morality globally.

Trump’s long promised Middle East peace initiative has effectively collapsed. The proposed international mechanisms to stabilize Gaza were never implemented, ceasefire enforcement remained absent, and settlement expansion continued unabated. Gaza remains devastated, its civilian population displaced and deprived, while accountability mechanisms remain paralyzed. The peace plan functioned less as a pathway to justice than as a political diversion, shifting attention while irreversible facts were imposed on the ground with minimal resistance from global media, institutions, publics, diplomacy, negotiations, law, norms, enforcement, conscience, outrage, empathy, solidarity, responsibility, leadership, resolve, courage, action, urgency, intervention, accountability, fairness, balance, restraint, morality, humanity, peace, justice.

In this light, Trump’s Hanukkah speech read less as celebration than confession. It revealed a worldview where power overrides principle, alliances eclipse law, and suffering becomes collateral. It also exposed the shared responsibility of Western governments and Muslim states that have tolerated, financed, or normalized this order. Condemning Trump alone is therefore insufficient. He acted openly, but he was enabled by a broader system unwilling to enforce its own rules or defend a truly universal standard of justice grounded in law, equality, sovereignty, dignity, humanity, restraint, accountability, consistency, legitimacy, balance, peace, order, ethics, norms, responsibility, credibility, fairness, stability, conscience globally.

If peace and justice are to mean anything, the Muslim world must confront its own contradictions. It cannot decry occupation while financing its beneficiary, nor invoke international law selectively. Trump’s words should be read as a mirror, reflecting the erosion of norms and collective failure to resist it. Until regional actors withdraw complicity and demand accountability consistently, Palestine will remain abandoned, international law weakened, and power unrestrained. Moral authority cannot be outsourced; it must be practiced through courage, sacrifice, and principled consistency rooted in justice, dignity, humanity, solidarity, responsibility, leadership, restraint, ethics, law, balance, fairness, credibility, legitimacy, peace, stability universally.

Pakistan issues demarche to Taliban regime after Afghan soil used to martyr soldiers

Pakistan issues demarche to Taliban regime after Afghan soil used to martyr soldiers

ISLAMABAD, DEC 19: The Foreign Office (FO) on Friday issued a demarche to the Afghan Taliban regime, conveying Pakistan’s grave concern over the continued support and facilitation provided to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after four Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom during today’s terrorist attack in North Waziristan.

“Pakistan condemns, in the strongest possible terms, today’s terrorist attack carried out by Khwarij belonging to Kharji Gul Bahadur Group on a Pakistan Military camp in North Waziristan District,” the FO spokesperson said in a statement.

The FO said it summoned the Afghan deputy head of mission to convey Pakistan’s strong demarche over the continued support by the Taliban regime to TTP, enabling them to carry out terrorist attacks against the Pakistan military and the civilian population along the Pak-Afghan border and in adjoining areas.

“It was emphasised that the permissive environment enjoyed by the TTP in Afghanistan belies Afghanistan’s international commitments as well as to Pakistan, that it would not allow its soil to be used against any other country, including Pakistan,” it added.

Furthermore, the spokesperson said, Pakistan has demanded a full investigation and decisive action against the perpetrators and facilitators of the terrorist attacks launched against Pakistan from Afghan soil.

“The Afghan Taliban regime has been urged to take immediate, concrete and verifiable measures against all terror groups operating from its territory, including their leadership, and deny the continued use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan,” it added.

The Afghan Taliban regime has also been categorically informed that Pakistan reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens, and will take all necessary measures to respond to terrorism originating from Afghan soil, the statement concluded.

Attempt to breach camp perimeter foiled: ISPR
Separately, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), in a statement, confirmed the attack, saying that four Pakistani soldiers were martyred while thwarting a terrorist attack on a security forces camp in the general area of Boya, North Waziristan.

According to the military’s media wing, the attack took place on December 19 when khawarij terrorists belonging to the “Indian proxy group Fitna al Khawarij [TTP] attempted to breach the camp’s perimeter.”

The terrorists’ attempt was foiled by a swift and resolute response from troops. “In their desperation, the attackers rammed an explosive laden vehicle on the outer perimeter wall, resulting in its collapse and considerable damage to adjacent civilian infrastructure including a mosque,” it added.

The explosion also inflicted severe injuries on 15 local civilians, including women and children, and caused damage to nearby homes, the ISPR said, adding that troops engaged the attackers with precision and eliminated all four terrorists during the ensuing exchange of fire.

However, during the intense firefight, four soldiers — Havildar Muhammad Waqas (42) of Kotli, Naik Khanwaiz (38) of Mansehra, Sepoy Sufyan Haider (25) of Vehari, and Sepoy Riffat (32) of Layyah — embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly.

The military’s media wing added that the attack was planned and orchestrated by Afghanistan-based terrorists, which it said contradicts claims by the Afghan Taliban regime that such groups do not operate from Afghan soil.

Pakistan, ISPR said, expects the Afghan Taliban regime to fulfil its obligations by preventing the use of its territory by khawarij against Pakistan. The statement added that Pakistan reserves the right to pursue and eliminate terrorists, along with their facilitators and affiliates, to ensure the safety and security of its people.

Cross-border terrorism
Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban regime to curb militant groups operating from its soil and carrying out attacks on Pakistani military personnel and civilians.

However, instead of addressing Pakistan’s concerns, Kabul sided with militants in launching an attack on Pakistan’s border posts in October.

The attack, which took place on the night between October 11 and 12, received a befitting response from the Pakistani forces, leading to the killing of over 200 Taliban and affiliated militants.

However, 23 Pakistani soldiers were martyred defending the motherland.

Security forces also conducted “precision strikes” inside Afghanistan, targeting terrorists in Kandahar province and Kabul.

Since then, a Qatar- and Turkiye-mediated ceasefire has been in effect between the two sides.

Security forces foil major suicide attack on North Waziristan Camp

Security forces kill four terrorists in D.I.Khan

RAWALPINDI, DEC 19: /DNA/ – In a heinous and cowardly terrorist act, Khwarij belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij attacked security forces camp, in general area Boya, North Waziristan District.

Khwarij attempted to breach the perimeter security, however, their nefarious designs were swiftly foiled by the vigilant and resolute response by own troops. In their desperation, the attackers rammed an explosive laden vehicle on outer perimeter wall, resulting in its collapse and considerable damage to adjacent civilian infrastructure including a mosque. Besides damaging their homes this blatant act of barbarism by khwarij inflicted severe injuries to fifteen local civilians including innocent children and women.

Displaying unwavering courage and professional excellence, own troops engaged the intruders with precision, resultantly all four khwarij belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell.

However, during the intense fire exchanges, four brave sons of soil Havildar Muhammad Waqas (age: 42 years, resident of District Kotli), Naik Khanwaiz (age: 38 years, resident of District Mansehra), Sepoy Sufyan Haider (age: 25 years, resident of District Vehari) and Sepoy Riffat (age: 32 years, resident of District Leyyah) having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat.

This hideous act of terrorism, planned and orchestrated by Afghanistan based Khwarij is in contrast to assertions made by Afghan Taliban Regime, claiming non presence of these terrorist groups operating from their soil.

Pakistan expects from Interim Afghan Government to fulfil its obligations and deny use of its soil by Khwarij against Pakistan as the safety and security of people of Pakistan comes first and foremost. Pak reserves the right to hunt these khwarij down and eliminate their facilitators and affiliates to ensure safety of own people.
