Shoaib Akhtar recalls physical altercation with Mohammad Asif

Rawalpindi Express criticises the mindset of the 37-year-old

Former Pakistan’s star fast-bowler Shoaib Akhtar has said that pacer Mohammad Asif wasted his career due to poor behaviour.

The Rawalpindi Express, shared his personal experience of playing with his 37-year-old.

“I hit him once with the bat once in 2006,” Akhtar said. “I should have done it twice with the way he was behaving then. The country had never produced such talent before.”

The former cricketer added that the Sialkot Stallions fast-bowler was behaving in a shady manner since 2006. “I am not saying that he was involved in match-fixing back then. He did not have the right mindset towards the game. He was involved in one thing after the other. I have nothing to do with his personal life but I was deeply disappointed with his attitude.”

Akhtar added that he had rendered an apology to Asif who in return went to then-captain Shoaib Malik and gave an ultimatum that only one of them can stay in the team.

He added that he was feeling mentally exhausted to play in 2007.

S Africa anti-racism protests over ‘whites-only graduation party’

Tear gas fired outside Cape Town school after graduation party, allegedly organised by parents, was attended only by white students and teachers

The South African police have fired tear gas at opposition activists protesting against alleged racism at a Cape Town school after a so-called “whites-only” year-end dance party was organised off-site, reportedly by parents.

Anti-riot police on Friday fired tear gas and water cannon at nearly 2,000 members of the radical left Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party who gathered near the school.

“Police fired tears, stun grenade and used water cannon to prevent the protesters from approaching the school,” Al Jazeera’s Fahmida Miller reported from Cape Town.

The protesters dispersed and regrouped a few blocks away.

Miller said the protesters were “quite peaceful” and have accused the police of being heavy-handed.

“They are also angry at the police and saying they won’t respond in the same manner against white protesters,” she said.

Police later told the protest organisers only 100 people were allowed to march to the school.

The protests were the latest in a string of demonstrations against alleged racism at Brackenfell High School following the party, which was held at a winery farm in Stellenbosch, east of Cape Town, on October 17.

Prior to the event, a flyer was shared on a dedicated WhatsApp group that included several teachers, Black students from the school told local news website IOL. The flyer was not shared via regular class WhatsApp groups, one student told IOL, saying it was clear Black students were meant to be excluded.

The school denies the event was an official function and maintains it was privately organised by parents.

“The masked ball, referred to as a matric farewell, was a private party organised by the parents of matriculants, and did not fall under the control of the school at all,” the school’s governing body wrote in a letter to parents, according to IOL.

“The function was held on a private venue and not at the school, as certain allegations claim. The governing body and staff of Brackenfell High School therefore distance themselves from any allegations that Brackenfell High School will condone or accommodate any events that are exclusively reserved for certain groups, and especially racial groups.”

A few days after the party, EFF members tried to march to the school but were blocked by some of the students’ parents resulting in fistfights.

Widely shared video footage showed dramatic scenes of angry white parents punching the EFF’s Black protesters on the streets on November 9.

The confrontation disturbed President Cyril Ramaphosa who called for an investigation, describing the clashes as “deeply regrettable”.

“The spectacle of parents and protesters coming to blows at the school gate is deeply unfortunate,” said Ramaphosa, adding the development brought “back hurtful memories of a past we should never seek to return to”.

The clashes occurred a few weeks after similarly racially-charged protests in the central farming town of Senekal over the brutal murder of a white farm manager by suspected Black assailants.

Despite the end of apartheid a generation ago, racial tensions in South Africa often remain high.

them to stay away from rallies due to the risk of Corona spike.

The opposition wants to halt the transparent accountability process in
the country but it will never happen. The main challenge for the country
right now is inflation, eradication of corruption and good governance,
not the opposition or its rallies. The country needs solidarity but the
opposition is trying to create chaos and Pakistan cannot afford such a
situation.

Pakistan army and the government are on the same page and all
institutions are working together for the development and prosperity of
the country. He said that no one else could hold such a large number of
rallies like PTI did under the leadership of Imran Khan.

government is established and will remain so. Governor Punjab Chaudhry

asking the opposition to give up the politics of rallies but if they
think that they will overthrow the government through rallies then this
is their dream that will never be fulfilled.

the opposition should refrain from engaging in protest politics.

He said that due to the successful economic policies of the government,
Pakistan is moving in the right direction and the future of Pakistan is
in safe hands. The government is taking all possible steps to address
issues including inflation and I am sure that the government under the
leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan will rid the country of
inflation as well as strengthen the country economically.

Putin says it’s early to greet US election winner as legal issues not sorted out

Russia ready to work with any US president, the Russian leader noted

MOSCOW, Nov 22 – Russian President Vladimir Putin explained that he has not yet congratulated the presumptive winner of the US presidential election because there is the need to wait until all legal issues are ironed out.

In the interview with “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” program on Rossiya-1 TV channel, the Russian leader noted that a formal delay with congratulations won’t worsen relations between Moscow and Washington, which are already bad.

“You can’t spoil a spoiled relationship, it is already spoiled,” Putin said commenting on whether the delay with congratulating the presumptive winner of the US election could deteriorate relations with Washington.

“We have a respectful relation to everyone: both incumbent President [Donald] Trump and candidate for this post Mr. [Joseph] Biden. Therefore, we don’t have any problems here,” Putin assured.

Putin stressed that this is purely a formal issue. “There isn’t any hidden agenda or anything what would be unusual or could be a basis for further deterioration of our relations.”

“As for others – those who congratulate [Biden], it’s up to each and everyone, all people are experienced and know what and how they do,” the president said. He also recalled that last time everyone had congratulated Hillary Clinton and it turned out that Trump won.

Waiting until final election results

Russia’s authorities are ready to work with any US President-Elect but now it’s important to wait until the vote count is completed and “the domestic political struggle” in the United States ends, Putin added.

“We will work with any person who will have confidence of the US people,” the Russian leader said.

In response to a question whether Putin planned to congratulate the US President-Elect after the vote count is over, Putin said: “[This] should be either done in line with political tradition when one of the sides acknowledges the victory of the other or when the final outcome of the vote is recognized in a legitimate and legal way.”

The United States held the presidential elections on November 3. Though the vote count is still underway, major US media outlets project that the Democratic contender has presumptively won the presidential election. Both Fox News and Associated Press have put Biden over the top, beyond the needed 270 vote threshold. Trump is challenging the current outcome, claiming irregularities in the ballot processing in key swing states, and has filed lawsuits to fight his case in court.

Ministers criticize PDM for insisting on Peshawar rally despite ban

ISLAMABAD, Nov 22 (DNA): Federal Ministers have criticized opposition’s
Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for insisting on holding rally in
Peshawar despite government’s ban due to surging coronavirus cases in
the country.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that
opposition wants to slaughter the entire cow for its 2kg meat.

In a tweet, the federal minister used the example of a cow to explain
the situation. “The Opposition wants to sacrifice the entire cow for its
2kg meat,” he said, “Fools, if the disease continues to spread and
people’s lives are on stake, then for what [purpose] are you doing
politics for?”

He said that politics and power were connected with people’s lives and
well-being. “Change your strategy; if you really want to hold jalsas
then hold virtual ones,” he said in the tweet.

Federal Minister for Planning and Development, while sharing the recent
stats about rising coronavirus in the country, said that these numbers
are being shared to send a message to political leaders that the novel
virus is threating lives.

Asad Umar, in a tweet, said that coronavirus patients on ventilators in
last 15 days rose by 200% in Peshawar, Multan 200%, Karachi 148%, Lahore
114%, and Islamabad 65%. He also revealed that Multan and Islamabad’s
ventilators capacity utilization has reached 70 percent.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Hammad Azhar said that
‘spread coronavirus movement’ of opposition is proof of their
selfishness. He asked that what opposition wants to achieve by spreading
the novel coronavirus in the country.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister for Political Communication Shahbaz
Gill has said that PDM parties are endangering lives of people for their
personal interests and warned that second wave of coronavirus can be
more deadly.

Earlier, when government imposed smart lockdown in the country,
opposition was in favor of complete lockdown but now because of their
hatred for Imran Khan, they are about to cross a red line, he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that Head of Pakistan Democratic
Movement (PDM) has said that the biggest virus
facing Pakistan is the government itself. He also said that PDM’s
Peshawar rally will go ahead as planned under all circumstances.

Addressing a press conference in Peshawar on Saturday, the PDM head said
that despite the illegitimate government’s efforts, PDM will hold its
rally in Peshawar. He said that Sunday’s historic rally will leave the
PTI government bamboozled.

This statement comes at a time when the country is facing a serious
spike in coronavirus cases with the number of deaths also on the rise.

Addressing these concerns, said that the government is
only touting the dangers of coronavirus since it sees no other way of
stopping PDM rallies. This illegitimate government itself is the biggest
virus, ridding the nation of its rule will be the biggest reprieve, he
said. DNA
