PM Imran Khan, while addressing the event in connection with the Farash Town apartments, said the federal government is making progress in Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP) and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) told him to complete the housing project within two years.

The premier said that their efforts for providing easy loans to the nationals have borne fruit as the banks are ready to provide housing finance and many schemes are also being launched.

There was no mortgage financing system existing in the country and it was a difficult phase to formulate mortage financing here, said PM Khan, adding that they have completed many phases to construct the units for the low-salaried segment who wants to own a house.

He praised Capital Development Authority (CDA) for providing 600 housing units to katchi abadis. He said that the residents of Farash Town apartments will get facilities.

He added that the Centre is also holding dialogues with the Sindh government regarding Bundal Island that will attract foreign investors.

PM Imran Khan said that two dams are being constructed in Pakistan after almost 50 years that will generate low-cost electricity. Moreover, the ML-1 railway project will shrink the journey between Karachi and Lahore to only eight hours.

Liverpool condemn online racial abuse of trio after Real Madrid defeat

Liverpool on Wednesday condemned the “abhorrent” racial abuse of Trent Alexander-ArnoldNaby Keita and Sadio Mane on social media after the trio were targeted following Tuesday’s 3-1 Champions League defeat by Real Madrid.

England defender Alexander-Arnold was sent monkey emojis on his latest Instagram post, while similar abuse was directed at Guinea midfielder Keita and Senegal forward Mane.

“Once again we are sadly discussing abhorrent racial abuse the morning after a football game. It is utterly unacceptable and it has to stop,” Liverpool said in a statement.

“LFC condemns all forms of discrimination and we continue to work with our inclusion partners through our Red Together initiative to campaign against it.”

English soccer’s governing bodies have urged social media companies to tackle the problem of online abuse in the wake of racist messages aimed at players, including Manchester United’s Axel TuanzebeMarcus Rashford and Anthony Martial and Arsenal’s Willian and Eddie Nketiah.

Instagram has announced a series of measures while Twitter has promised to continue its efforts after taking action on more than 700 cases of abuse related to soccer in Britain in 2019.

Liverpool said they would work with the relevant authorities to identify the users responsible for the messages.

“As a club, we will offer our players any and all support that they may require,” the Premier League champions said. “We will also work… to identify and, if possible, prosecute those responsible.

“We know this will not be enough until strongest possible measures are taken by platforms and regulatory bodies which govern them. The current situation cannot be allowed to continue.”

Last month, former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry deleted his social media accounts to protest against the platforms for not taking action against anonymous account holders who are guilty of racism and bullying online.

CHINA WARNS WASHINGTON NOT TO BOYCOTT WINTER OLYMPICS

BEIJING, APR 7 – China‘s government warned Washington on Wednesday not to boycott next year’s Winter Olympics in Beijing after the Biden administration said it was talking with allies about a joint approach to complaints of human rights abuses.

A Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned of an unspecified “robust Chinese response” to a potential Olympics boycott.

“The politicization of sports will damage the spirit of the Olympic Charter and the interests of athletes from all countries,” said the spokesperson, Zhao Lijian. “The international community including the U.S. Olympic Committee will not accept it.”

Human rights groups are protesting China‘s hosting of the games, due to start in February 2022. They have urged a boycott or other measures to call attention to accusations of Chinese abuses against Uyghurs, Tibetans and residents of Hong Kong.

The U.S. State Department suggested an Olympic boycott was among the possibilities but a senior official said later a boycott has not been discussed. The International Olympic Committee and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee have said in the past they oppose boycotts.
