ISLAMABAD, OCT 1 (DNA): The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS). Member of diplomatic corps and Indonesian students volunteered in donating blood.

The Indonesian Embassy and PRCS have been cooperating to organize a blood donation camp to facilitate brothers and sisters of Pakistan since 2016. Pakistan Red Crescent Regional Blood Donor Center is known for being very responsible in supplying safe quality blood to the community by implementing a safe blood program that embodies the spirit of “Altruism” and the principle of Voluntary, non-remunerated Blood Donation.

Ambassador Adam Tugio said, “Saving one life is equivalent to saving humanity and blood donation raises awareness of the importance of regular blood donations to help patients in need”.

Pakistan is currently facing a dengue outbreak, and demand for blood transfusion and platelets are significantly increased as a result all across Pakistan. In addition, Pakistan has an additional requirement for blood supply because of thalassemia patients, and the challenge has magnified due to the lack of blood donors amid COVID-19.

Blood donation camps increase awareness among the general public and especially youth for “Blood Safety”, and prevention of the spread of transfusion-transmitted diseases. It can also promote the concept of voluntary blood donation by removing the fears and superstitions associated with blood donation.

Ambassador Tugio expressed his appreciation to the entire team of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and to all the blood donors, including youth for voluntarily donating blood and inspiring others to join hands and support a noble cause.

“The collected blood will be distributed to critical patients with Thalassemia, Hemophilia, Cancer, Dialysis, and others who are in serious illness in hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi”, added a team member of PRCS. DNA

Furthermore, he added that Pakistan was listed among those few countries whose export-to-GDP ratio was less than 10 per cent. Only remittances were not enough to devise economic plans but rather employment of skilled labor to improve the quality of our goods was also essential.

He further alluded that the quality could only be upgraded through competitiveness and for that, government needed to encourage foreign direct investments inside the country. While presenting various lists such as the HDI, Ease of Doing Business, Gender Parity, Prosperity Index, and others, he mentioned that Pakistan’s standings in each list was below than the regional competitors.

Dr Jehanzeb concluded by stating that dysfunctional institutions, climate disasters, growing population, lack of skilled labor and less focus on capacity and building and optimization were some of the challenges on which the government needed to devise effective policies.

Sheikh Rashid accuses govt of ‘stealing’ US cypher

RAWALPINDI – Awami Muslim League Pakistan (AMLP) leader Sheikh Rashid on Saturday accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership of “stealing” the US cypher.

In a series of tweets, the former Interior Minister Rashid said that statement of government on cypher has turned in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran khan. He said that only Imran Khan can take Pakistan out of the economic and political crisis.

Rashid went on to say that the decision of appointment or demotion would be made by November 15.

He said that PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif is waiting while PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar got the “clean chit” through a deal.

He said that the rulers are trapped by the masses and now they cannot run away.

Earlier, a meeting of the federal cabinet on Friday was informed that the cypher, which PTI referred to as conspiracy to overthrow former prime minister Imran Khan-led govt, has gone missing from PM House record.

A special committee of the cabinet has been formed to investigate the audios related to the diplomatic cypher in the cabinet meeting chaired by PM Shehbaz Sharif, and it has been informed that the copy of the cypher is missing from the records of the PM’s House.

The cabinet also expressed serious concern over the fact that the audios of the former prime minister, former principal secretary to the prime minister, and other people related to the diplomatic cypher have exposed the criminal conspiracy of the former government and Imran Khan.

PTI moves Supreme Court seeking probe into PM House audio leak

ISLAMABAD: PTI Saturday moved the Supreme Court, requesting the apex court to investigate the PM House audio leaks and sought criminal charges against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team for hatching a “criminal conspiracy”.

A series of audio leaks from the meetings that took place at the PM House during the last several months have shocked the country and raised questions about the cyber security of the building.

One of the audios, which allegedly featured PM Shehbaz, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and others — contains a discussion regarding PTI’s resignations.

In it, the PML-N leaders can be allegedly heard expressing their opinions over PTI’s resignations. They are also talking about London’s permission to accept the resignations.

“…incumbent prime minister and his cabinet members […] can be heard discussing a heinous strategy to outplay the petitioner from the parliamentary politics in most illegal, unlawful and objectionable manner,” the PTI said in the petition about the audio leak.

The petition said that the entire discussion revolves around a “criminal strategy/conspiracy” to affect and target the party through piecemeal acceptance of the resignations tendered by PTI’s MNAs on April 11.

The party said that the prime minister, in a press conference on Tuesday, admitted the “actuality and existence” of the referred audio leaks.

“It is also important to bring on record that the Information Minister Maryum Aurangzeb and Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan have already admitted the reality of the audio leaks,” the petition stated.

The PTI claimed that the PM and the cabinet members with aid of National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf violated their oath and utterly disregarded the law and the constitution.

“The admission on the part of the incumbent federal government requires stern action against the prime minister and the federal ministers,” the petition said.

The audio leak saga

Several audios have been leaked online in a span of eight days — three of the incumbent government and two of PTI.

The first was leaked last Saturday, which allegedly featured PM Shehbaz Sharif and a senior official. It contained a discussion regarding PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz asking for a power plant from India to be imported for her son-in-law.

Later on Sunday, two more audios were leaked on social media. One of them was related to a discussion about the PTI’s resignation and another was about former finance minister Miftah Ismail.

The first audio related to PTI was leaked on September 28, in which former prime minister Imran Khan allegedly told his then-principal secretary Azam Khan to “play” with the US cypher.

The second PTI audio leak came to the fore Friday, which exposed Khan’s conspiracy narrative.

In the latest audio, the then-prime minister Khan, ex-minister Asad Umar, and the then-principle secretary Azam could allegedly be heard discussing the US cypher in a meeting and how to use it in their interest.

Following the back-to-back leaks, the National Security Council (NSC) approved the formation of a high-level committee under the leadership of Sanauallah to investigate the matter of the audio leaks.

In its meeting just a day after, the federal cabinet also endorsed NSC’s decision to conduct a thorough investigation into the issue.
