ISLAMABAD, OCT 16 /DNA/ – Vice Chancellor Air University Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed (Retd) has stressed the need of promoting career-focused education, stating that: “Air University focuses on enhancing the employability skills in order to facilitate students for choosing a perfect career path.” He was addressing the concluding session in connection with the first-ever Career Counseling Week (AUCCW 2022) organized by the AU Career Support Office. On the occasion, Director Student Affairs Fazaila Ali, Assistant Director Sabahuddin Qazi, Placement Officials Gulnaz Batool, Misbah Shahid, Mobeen Jamshed and other distinguished guests were also present. 

The Vice Chancellor, in his address, emphasized that a career-oriented education is the need of time that empowers students, through academic programs and co-curricular activities, to identify their professional goals and let them move forward in the right direction to achieve successes. “Air University is taking various initiatives facilitating students to earn their valuable degree, develop bright destiny, and ensure a solid foundation for their future achievements,” he further said.

Answering a question about the importance of CGPA in job hirings, the VC acknowledged that the CGPA is usually considered the most important factor when being shortlisted for a job position. “You might get a job offer based on your academic performance, but in order to secure the seat and compete in the job market, you need to demonstrate extraordinary competencies related to creative thinking, interpersonal skills, team spirit, decision-making, and a strong grip on technology,” he stated.

“It is a universal fact that students who are more self-aware and clear on their career strengths feel more confident to explore professional opportunities,” DSA Fazaila Ali expressed while expressing her views with students. “The key objectives for organizing the Career Counseling Week include to brief newly-enrolled students of 1st semester about the significance of choosing the right career path, to test and evaluate job readiness skills, and to devise a concrete plan of action in support of career planning and development,” she emphasized.

“The data obtained could also be beneficial for research purpose and decision making process to find out more about students’ career readiness, their strengths and needs for grooming,” Sabahuddin Qazi, who heads Career Support Office, stated, informing that “it will also provide a comprehensive framework for addressing career-related goals and outcomes of curricular and co-curricular activities in terms of student’s field of study and interest areas.”

According to him, a total nine sessions were held throughout the week starting from October 10, during which the AU Career Counseling core team, composed of Gulnaz Batool, Misbah Shahid and Mobeen Jamshed, evaluated the employability skills and career readiness competencies that employers value most in the recruitment process. “The participating students were thoroughly tested on the basis of job readiness competencies, as per international best practices,” he stated.

RAWALPINDI, Oct 15 (DNA): National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS)
will simultaneously hold its Medical and Dental College Admission Test
(MDCAT) across the country and overseas in Saudi Arabia and United Arab
Emirates for admission in MBBS/BDS programmes on October 16 (Sunday).

MDCAT for NUMS is being held for admission in 13 medical and Dental
colleges. The students seeking admission in these colleges this year are
no longer required to sit any other test as per the decision of Pakistan
Medical Commission (PMC) last month. The nomenclature of NUMS Entry Test
(NET) has been changed to MDCAT for NUMS 2022.

All the candidates for MBBS and BDS will have to secure 55% and 45 %
passing marks respectively to be successful in the test, said the
University Registrar Brig Muhammed Azhar (Retd) here on Saturday.

Over 70,000 candidates having Pakistani nationality will be taking the
test at their respective Exam Centers to compete for 2075 (two thousand
seventy-five) seats. Of all the contesting candidates, 46,582 girls and
23,641 boys have applied for admission. The result of MDCAT for NUMS is
expected to be announced within two to three weeks, said the Registrar.

MDCAT for NUMS MBBS/BDS Session 2022 will take place at the Examination
Centers, set up in 20 different cities including the Federal Capital
Islamabad, in four provincial capitals, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and
NUMS centers in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The University has finalized the arrangements to conduct its MDCAT in a
transparent manner and trained staff has already been deployed at its
examination centers. A special Control Room has been set up at NUMS
Secretariat to monitor and coordinate with all the examination centres
in real time. NUMS has urged the candidates to reach, along with their
required documents, to their respective examination centres two hours

ISLAMABAD, OCT 15 /DNA/ – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan categorically stated that Pakistan has one of the most secure nuclear command and control systems’ unlike the US which has been involved in wars across the world.

In a tit-for-tat response to the US President Joe Biden’s controversial statement pertaining to Pakistani’s nuclear programme, PTI Chairman on Saturday said that the US President’s controversial statement clearly reflected the failure of the imported government’s claims of a “reset” in relations with the US foreign policy.

Imran Khan asked: “On what information has Biden reached this unwarranted conclusion on our nuclear capability when, having been PM, I know we have one of the most secure nuclear command & control systems.”

 “Unlike the US which has been involved in wars across the world, when has Pakistan shown aggression especially post-nuclearisation?” he further asked.

Lashing out at the imported government for what he said it has broken all records for incompetence, the PTI Chairman said Biden statement showed the total failure of the imported government’s foreign policy and its claims of reset of relations with the US. “Is this the ‘reset’?”

He went on to say that his greatest worry was that apart from leading the country to economic ruin and NRO II for themselves, giving a license to white-collar criminals to plunder the country, this government will also end up completely compromising national security. DNA

SYLHET, OCT 15 – The Indian women’s cricket team has become the Asia Cup 2022 champion for the seventh time as they continued their dominance in the tournament.

The Indian team registered a cakewalk win over Sri Lanka in the final of the 2022 edition by 8 wickets. For her brilliant performance with the ball, Renuka Singh Thakur has won the man of the match award, while Deepti Sharma has been named the Player of the tournament for her all-round show during the tournament.

In the final match, the Sri Lankan side won the toss and chose to bat. SL openers Chamari Athapaththu and Anushka Sanjeewani came out to bat. But they soon inflicted a blow when their captain Athapaththu ran out in the third over itself.

It could not go any well for the Lankan batters and they kept losing wickets. The track assisted the spinners but not to the extent that the scoreboard showed. Renuka Singh scalped three wickets, while Rajaeshwari Gayakwad and Sneh Rana picked two scalps each.

Sri Lanka toiled towards fifty and managed to play the complete 20 overs but the target was too meagre to be a worry for the Indian team. Coming out to bat, the Indian team chased the target inside 9 overs and clinched their seventh title of the continental cup.

ISLAMABAD, OCT 15: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Saturday said that the incumbent government has decided to summon US Ambassador Donald Blome for an official demarche on US President Joe Biden’s remarks on Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.

At a Democratic congressional campaign committee reception on Thursday, Biden said Pakistan may be “one of the most dangerous nations in the world” as the country has “nuclear weapons without any cohesion”.

A transcript of the address, published on the White House’s website, quoted Biden as saying: “… And what I think is maybe one of the most dangerous nations in the world: Pakistan. Nuclear weapons without any cohesion.”

In a press conference at the Bilawal House in Karachi today, the foreign minister said that Pakistan’s nuclear assets “meet each and every international standard in accordance with the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) as far as security and safety is concerned”.

“If there is any question as to nuclear safety, then they should be directed to our neighbor India, who very recently accidentally fired a missile into Pakistani territory.

“This is not only irresponsible and unsafe but raises genuine and serious concerns about the safety of nuclear-capable countries,” he pointed out.

“I am surprised by the remarks of President Biden […] I believe this is exactly the sort of misunderstanding that is created when there is a lack of engagement.”

Bilawal said that Pakistan had embarked on a “journey of engagement” and just marked the 75th anniversary of bilateral engagements with the US.

“If this was such a concern, I imagine it would’ve been raised in that meeting with me, I believe that we have just started our journey of engagement and we will have many more opportunities to engage with the US and address any concerns and misconceptions they might have to this specific question.”

We have called the ambassador for a demarche, he said, adding that an opportunity should be allowed to the US to explain the position.

“I don’t believe it negatively impacts the relations between Pakistan and the US. We will continue on the positive trajectory of engagements we are having so far,” Bilawal highlighted.

He went on to say that Pakistan had nothing to do with Biden’s statement. “We will call their ambassador and issue a demarche, but I don’t think this was an official function […] it wasn’t an address to the parliament or an interview.

“It was a fundraiser […] it was an untraditional conversation in which this sentence was used so it should be [looked at] in this manner, I think we will look at this statement in this way,” he elaborated.

However, at the same time, Bilawal said that the nation should desist from “going into conspiracy theories”.

He clarified that had the government felt any pressure, it would have been brought before the public. “But there is no such issue, we have varying stances on different issues, but when you’re responsible and mature states, you engage.”

There are a lot of opportunities for Pakistan to positively engage with the rest of the word, he added.

Joe Biden has alleged that Pakistan’s nuclear programme lacks “cohesion” and referred to the country as “one of the most dangerous countries” while he was speaking about the aggressive attitude of Russia and China at a democratic congressional campaign committee reception.

“Did anybody think we would be in a situation where China is trying to figure out its role relative to Russia and relative to India and relative to Pakistan,” Biden said. Terming the US president’s comments as an “unwarranted conclusion” of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, the former premier asked about the information Biden got to make such a statement on the country’s capability, and added: “….having been PM, I know we have one of the most secure nuclear command & control systems”. “Unlike the US which has been involved in wars across the world, when has Pakistan shown aggression esp post-nuclearisation?” he further asked.
